Sadly, this course wasnt worth the price, even on a hot deal. 6:50 tee time, didnt tee off until 7:10. When hitting your ball on the fairway you have a 50/50 chance of landing on grass or mud. Greens are even worse. Bald patches, ball marks and sprouts of crab grass. Bunkers look like something out of a wasted landscape of a science fiction movie. To add to the disappointment, on the 15th hole 3 hours into the round, a marshall approached us to tell us we were "falling behind". When we asked if he knew what time we tee'd off, he was clueless. We were on pace, despite waiting for 10 minutes on the previous 2 hole for the grounds crew to cut tge tee boxes and fairways as we stood with clubs in hand and hands on hips. Talk about unprofessional. You couldnt get me to go back tbere for free. Better courses literally up the road.

The pace moved well, but at 10:15 on the 15th hole the marshall had the audacity to tell us we were "behind". When questioned when our tee time was he was clueless. We informed him that we were on pace, even after having to wait 10 minutes on 2 separate tee boxes and fairways for the landscapers to cut the grass while we were standing over our shots waiting to hit. This place used to be great for a quick and cheap round, but you couldnt pay me to go there again.

Silver Lake is hands down the best public course on Staten Island. It is truly evident that the staff actually cares about your golfing experience and satisfaction. Course conditions are superb, staff is sociable and friendly, carts actually work, and pace of play is good. If you would like an enjoyable, timely round of golf, Silver Lake is the play to be.
