Nice but bland.

Very welcoming staff and good practice areas.
Winter greens have nice speed to them with gentle undulations. Course conditions were good considering recent rain.
Carts are electric with best seats I’ve ever sat on in a golf cart.

Negatives are that most of the holes are not that memorable nor that challenging.
Par 3 17th hole is outstanding as a peninsula jutting out into the pond. Wish more holes were that scenic. Most of the holes are lined with houses with too little landscaping to hide them.

Pleasant experience and a good value, but doesn’t inspire me to play it again.

Challenging scenic course

Greeted by very welcoming staff. Carts had insulated covers, nice. Cart path only because of wet conditions.
Holes are at times far apart, so not conducive to walking.
Beautiful layout, meandering through mature pines with scattered holes in open marshland. There are homes lining some of the holes but it was not too intrusive.

Course was in pretty good condition considering it was winter. Greens a bit slow but in nice shape. Greens are well protected with sharp drop offs and bunkers.

Enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it.

Great value

Beautiful layout and wildlife. Greens are in very good shape for this time of year. Conveniently located right by the airport so you can squeeze in a round on arrival and before late departure.
Green fees are a bargain. Fairways were a bit spotty though.

Not up to par

Tee box and greens are in good condition.
Staff are congenial and welcoming.
Fairways were shaggy, sparse and weedy.
Front nine is visually unappealing with homes everywhere with little landscaping to buffer.
Back nine was more scenic. Greens have minimal undulating and therefore uninteresting.
Overall quite disappointed and won’t come back.

Blackheath terrific

Thoroughly enjoyed this prcturesque Blackheath course. A bald eagle flew right over the first tee. Starts with a challenging par 5 with water all along the left. Nice elevation changes, water carries, dog legs and mixture of long and short par 4’s. The finishing hole has a neat island green. There are homes lining the fairways but are non obtrusive. Pace of play was excellent. Course conditions was good for this time of year.
Still cart path only. Would definitely play again.

Nice but bland

Welcomed by congenial staff. Upscale clubhouse with fine restaurant/bar and outdoor seating overlooking the river.

Course is wide open and links style with plenty of mounds flanking the fairways. Hardly a tree in play. Fairly straightforward. Layout is bland and hardly memorable. Par 3’s are strong and penal if you miss the green. Greens are perched with plenty of drop off from the edges. Unfortunately, greens have little undulation and does not present much of a challenge once you’re on.

Course condition is good but I expected better.
Overall pleasant experience but did not excite me to play it again.

Beautiful course

Course was in very good condition considering it was January. Beautiful layout with tall majestic trees and rolling hills. No homes to mar the beauty of natural surrounding. Interesting start with a par 5 followed by a par 3 on the next hole. Very fair test of golf and an excellent finishing par 5 . One of the top courses in the Williamsburg area.

Nice winter golf

Friendly staff from bag attendant, golf shop to bar attendant. Driving range is nicely maintained, swing on nicely mown grass, no mats here. Decent shape for winter golf. Greens are on the slow side but receptive to approach shots. Bunkers have nice fine white sand.

Fairways are generous and the greens are large. Plays fairly easy. There are some nice views of the harbor and wildlife and few homes to spoil the view. 17th hole is an intimidating carry over the river and the 18th is lined by the bay on the left with the Hyatt Hotel framing the green.

If you're a pilot, Cambridge-Dorchester Airport KCGE is just 2 miles a way.
