I don't do reviews often but one of them is for this course at 5 stars.
I played today and conditions are worse than your worst local muni.

Tee boxes are uneven. But fairways are DIRT! greens are so soft and in bad condition. Bunkers lack sands..

Nothing was in playable condition. I'm skipping here for at least 6 months...

Friend played babe 2 weeks ago and it was only q bit better.

Great value with u-par voucher. Course is in very nice condition with wide fairways good for novice. But there was 10 min wait at every par 3. No marshall ever came to push the pace up. Still we managed to finish in 4hrs for 2some. Could've been 3hr if there was no hold up in front.

I can't find much bad things to say about this course. It's very well maintained. Employees are very nice. You get icebox and water in your cart. (It gets very hot in summer time)

Not many tee times are available because of so many tournaments and when there is one on golfnow, it's about $10-15 higher than other munis. But it's SO worth it! Lush fairways, challenging yet wider design than Babe, greens are fantastic! bunkers are well maintained.

Writing this review makes me want to go back and play again now.

This used to be $75 a round on weekends and it was packed with 5somes. Now even on Friday, you pay $25 and course is empty.

Condition is bad with dirt on from woman's tee to 50 yds out. Bunkers are erratic. Greens are ok. Fairways are getting drier and bare.

This course is looking for new owners and no one is taking care of it. So less people come and course cuts costs and conditions worsen.. More less people come... and on and on.

Until conditions improve, I will never play again even at $15.

Nice and fast greens.
Reasonable green fee.
Old but still a GPS in cart.

Rough is hard and thick. Even if you saw ball land, you might not be able to find it. Watch out!

I get it. The course is a private country club with its heydays in 70-80s. Now it's trying to gather new members so it opened partially to Golfnow. Probably some newbies came in and did thing that was cringe-worthy. I'm a minority, so I often am on receiving side of bad attitude. but when a pro-shop guy threatens me with "If you don't finish your round in 4h 15min, we will come out and remove you." it's a whole new level of rudeness.

Course is narrow and short with alot of overlapping greens/tee boxes. Green was ok but conditions are no better than Skylinks.

Keep dreaming about your glory days with that kind of attitude. There are so many better alternatives out here.

*Luckily we finished round in less than 4hrs. Thank GOD!

Best views in so.cal and probably one of top 30 in US.

Green fees (reg $300) can be had much cheaper with right website.

Greens are FAST but in great conditions. So is fairway but I hate the undulation. If you hit a great tee shot, you probably have a wicked lie on the fairway.

Distance difference between blue and black tees are almost 1100yds. !!

Everytime I go there, I get wow-ed by the views but by the 3rd hole, I don't have time or conscience to enjoy the view because I'm huffing and running around for balls.!! :)

Greens are always in good condition. Pace of play is almost never an issue. Price is very reasonable. Staffs are very helpful and reasonable. All of these makes Rio Hondo a pleasure and safe bet to have fun.

Wednesday morning. All the courses near this one are empty. But you have 2 groups waiting to tee off (thanks to reachable par4 to begin) that starts a back up that lasts until 4th hole.

Weekends are worse. 20min late start is always. I said to an old man infront of my group "would you mind picking up the pace, you are a hole behind." His reply was "why do I have to?" Now I know why it's always backed up.

I will never ever play this course again.
