Hard Greens

A beautiful course, especially when played from the middle of the fairways. The fairway edges tend to be more difficult to play from (more sloped and more undulated).
The greens, though, are where the strokes add up: come in high or barely trickle the ball on, it's tough to make them hold. The putts roll too well, you need to leave yourself with uphill finishes.
Look forward to returning next spring!

More is Better

This was the 4th or 5th time we have now played at Plumas Lake, but the first time we were paired with a "local". He was able to point out some of the "local knowledge", which helped us enjoy each hole (and score better) a little more. The greens were in excellent shape and the fairways were surprisingly green as well. We'll be back!

You'd better like par 3's

A good test for iron play, there are 5 par 3's on the front nine. The entire front nine is a beautiful walk/ride through and among the redwoods where accuracy is a must. The course opens up a bit on the back - you can actually get out the driver.

Overall, the course was in great shape: lush fairways, playable rough, and puttable greens.
I'll be back!

hot and dry

It was a typical mid-summer day, hot and dry, and so was the golf course. The fairways were green, not necessarily lush, with a few dry areas. The greens were in very good shape, soft and receptive, yet faster and smoother than expected.
An enjoyable time was had by all.

The greens are the highlight of the course.

Driving accuracy is key - pretty rough conditions if not in the fairway. The greens are challenging: large with subtle and not so subtle breaks, but in good condition.

The course recovered well from last week's storms.

After last week's torrential rain and winds, the course was in surprisingly good shape. The greens were slicker than expected and there were very few mudholes in the fairways.
