Panorama Golf Club - Rolling Hills Course
Played On 05/14/2019Great conditions, but greens punched in the last few days.
The Super does a great job keeping this course in great shape. I hope the course management understands what a great job the super does day in and day out to this course. The Rolling Hills nine is just perfect right now. This course gets a lot of rounds and those in carts don't necessarily adhere to the proper 90* rule. Despite that, the tees, fairways and bunkers are in great shape.
The greens were punched probably on May 13. It should take 10-14 days to recover. Keep that in mind when making your reservation. Nothing noted on this site said the greens were recently aerated which was a little disappointing. I'll return to play this course, but it will be in a couple weeks.
The Golf Club at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe
Played On 10/26/2018So I get the weather is changing and the course received a bunch of rain but I was really surprised how the course conditions reflected a course that you'd expect to play maybe later in the fall/winter here in the area. Tee boxes were thin, fairways were really starting to thin out and greens were decent but they need to be punched or something to help with the growth. It's a good value is you find a cheaper tee time on golf now. It's a good layout and challenging course but maybe I caught it at a bad time.
Panorama Golf Club - Rolling Hills Course
Played On 10/12/2018One of the best values in the area
The super needs some real recognition because the rolling hills 9 has some of the best fairways and greens I've played in the Houston area. The course layout is what it is but it does require accuracy off the tee and into the greens. Takes driver out of the long hitter but that's ok. For the money, it's fantastic. The other 18 holes are still in quality shape but you can tell a difference with the renovated rolling hills. It's absolute incredible what that grounds crew has done to maintain the greens and fairways with all the cart traffic.
Panorama Golf Club - Rolling Hills Course
Played On 05/14/2018From decent to wow
Apparently the mgmt revamped the rolling hills 9 and it's fantastic. Tee boxes are great, fairways are lush and greens are great. Rolling hills looks like a completely different course condition wise.
Winged foot's greens were thin and the fairways are worn down from all the traffic.
The other 18 holes haven't received the renovation treatment and when they do, this will be a real solid course in the area.
I'll be back. Hopefully the renovation work continues.
Moody Gardens Golf Course
Played On 03/31/2018Great course... Just needs a Marshall to do his job
Course is in great shape. Found a good deal on a Saturday and really enjoyed the round. We played in 4 hrs and 15 minutes after being the 6th group off that morning. We played the first 5 holes in an hour and then took us 3+ hours to play the remaining holes. There was a 4 some that after #8 was a hole behind and after #13 were almost two holes behind. The Marshall drove up to the slow group a couple times on the back nine, waived and continued on his way. We were all backed up behind the slower group. It's a recipe for 5+ hr rounds later in the day if an early group backs everyone up. I'll be back to play this course. I always enjoy my round here. I just might not play on a Saturday.
West Fork Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/21/2018Greens have some potential!
Despite the course getting hit by Harvey, is actually in great shape. Get a couple good rains and clear up some of the spots flooded out by Harvey and this course has some serious potential. Used a hot deal and finished my round in 3 hours on a weekday afternoon. I'll be anxious to see how the greens look in a couple weeks.
The Golf Trails of The Woodlands - Panther Trail Course
Played On 08/13/2016Good deal on golf now
Great price if you can handle the heat. Tee boxes are ok and fairways are great. Greens are grainy and recovering from being punched a few weeks ago. Plenty of drinking water around the course and the cart girl was around every 45 minutes to an hour. Good stuff.
Only complaint: Got stuck behind a slow foursome that had no one in front on them. No marshall around until the back nine and they just waived and drove on. A marshall that either sped them up or let us play through would've been nice. Took almost 5 hours to play when there wasn't a lot of people playing at that time of day.
Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2014Not worth the green fee
I played today on 9/22 and was disappointed in the conditions for the price. Paid $55 via golfnow.com and that was steep for a Monday morning.
Comments on the course:
No sand in the bunkers...or they haven't been worked/maintained in months. Nothing but mud/packed sand. The bunkers don't drain so even days after a rain, they are still full of water.
Fairway grass is thin.
I understand they are trying to grow up natural areas in the deep rough for the stuff right off the fairway is nothing but a mix of bermuda and weeds.
Greens are decent.
Tee boxes haven't been mowed is days.
Tee boxes full of weeds.
Areas around creeks, ponds, etc are not maintained.
Mushrooms growing all over the place.
The course could look a lot better with a few gallons of gas in the mowers, some hard manual labor, some sand and just some sort of direction in course maintenance.

Tees were ok, fairways were fast and firm but the greens were thin for the most part. I don't know if it's the transition in seasons, but the greens were the worst part of the course. Overall it's a challenging track and for the most part in good shape, just a little disappointed in the greens. Also, they are punching the greens this week so keep that in mind. For the price, it's a good course.
