Babe Zaharias Golf Course
Played On 01/31/2024Good value
The course is not long, but a few of the par 4 holes play very long. Greens putted very well and held nicely. They are the best part of the course. Sand was good as well. Lots of bare areas off of the fairways and there really is no rough, just bare areas. Some fairways were ok and others a bit bare. Overall, for the price, pace of play and the greens it was a very good value and we had a nice time. All staff members I encountered were friendly. Beer is reasonably priced.
Hills of Lenawee Golf Club & Banquet Center
Played On 09/24/2023Expect a challenge and great conditions
Quite a bit of elevation changes on this course. Fairways were so soft that bounce and roll does not exist, so plan on the course playing longer than the listed yardage. Many greens have severe slopes. Do not get on the high side or you will pay dearly. Staff was very friendly. We never once had to wait to play. Can't beat it for the conditions, value and challenge.

The course was in great shape from tee to green. Staff is always friendly. Due to earlier rain we had clear sailing ahead of us with no waiting during our entire round. We will be back again and again.
West at Whiteford Valley Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2023Course in good shape
Despite all of the rain we have had, the course was in overall good shape. The greens and fairways are in very good shape. The rough is very long, but considering the rain in should be expected. The sand traps need work and some of the tees could be better maintained. Overall, well worth the price

Played On 05/19/2023Course is in fantastic condition
One of my favorite courses. It is in great shape from tee to green. The staff is always friendly and I always enjoy playing here. The greens are smooth and fast. Make sure you hit the practice putting green before you play, otherwise you will struggle for a few holes getting the correct speed.
Springport Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/13/2022great value
Very challenging for the first time playing this course. Greens were a bit slow. Sand traps were top notch. Tees had long grass on most. The owner was extremely friendly. Definately a great deal for a last minute Saturday tee time. Would recommend to others and would play again if we are back in the area.
Gaylord Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2021Great course, great conditions, friendly staff
Played Treetops prior to playing here. Treetops is wonderful but a resort course. This is an old fashioned golf club. The staff was very friendly, the beer cold and the course is in super great condition. I cannot think of one negative. They even have operational ball washers. That seems to be a perk these days. The tees, fairways, sand and greens were immaculate. Very playable with limited forced carries, OB and water. It is a challenge as a first time golfer here as many of the greens have curves and undulations that are not apparent from the fairway. Missing the green short is rarely penalized, but go left, right or long and you may not have a reasonable chance to get up and down. I will definitely be back when I am in the Gaylord area.

Played On 02/10/2021Greens need work
I read some really bad recent reviews on this course so I was quite apprehensive of playing here. I was pleasantly surprised overall. For sure the greens need work. There is no joy in putting on these greens. Many times I did not bother with even trying to make a putt as it was not really a fair test. That said, the course has great bones, so therefore was an enjoyable round. Tees, fairways and sand were all very playable. The par threes are particularly challenging. Plenty of sand, water and trees to catch wayward shots. Just look at it as a practice day that sure beats hitting balls at the range.
LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 02/08/2021Very good conditions and wide open fairways
Conditions were great for February, Greens were firm but still held and putted true. Fairways and tees very nice and the sand was well kept and consistent. No complaints at all on the conditions. Almost impossible to lose a ball here as the water and OB not really a factor due to very generous landing areas. Most greens were very accessible and not well protected by sand or water. I would say that this course provides a limited challenge but offers high-level conditions, excellent practice facilities and a top grade clubhouse. Resort qualities at very reasonable pricing.
Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/07/2021More grass can be found in a Walmart parking lot
The good things: hills in Florida, friendly staff and free beer. Everything else is a major disappointment. The tees and fairways were pretty much sand with a few blades of dormant or dead grass mixed in. The greens were painted but did actually have grass and were puttable but not enjoyable. Spoke with a local member and learned that the course is basically on life support and survives due to real estate development covenants that expire in another 7 years. Layout was fine, but chances are you will regret that you spent money to play here.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2018Great Shape
The course was in great shape and the greens were as good as I have seen them on this course. They were relatively fast and were holding shots. Front nine was smooth sailing, but unfortunately a foursome appeared out of nowhere on the 10th hole and these four oldtimers made the second nine a lot slower for our threesome. They never let us through so it was quite frustrating. Otherwise a very pleasant day despite the wind a a few quick rain showers. I will be back.
Devils Head Resort & Convention Center - Glacier Course
Played On 07/15/2018Great Value
Great deal through golf now on a Sunday afternoon. Course was rather empty, although we had a 5some and a 6some in front of our twosome. Both let us through and were very friendly guys having a scramble golf outing. Course was not difficult from the blue tees. No lost balls and no penalty strokes. No sand traps either. My lucky day. The course was in good shape. The greens held well, but were very difficult to read. They looked slow but were rather fast with more break than expected. Not like the bent grass I am used to in Michigan. Beers are pretty expensive at this course as well. More for a 6 pack than I paid for my 18 hole round.
Pierce Lake Golf Course
Played On 05/02/2018Love this course
If you don't hit the ball rather straight and long, play the forward tees or you will be losing many golf balls. I love the challenge of the back tees at 7000 yards with some very long par threes and forced carries.Great views on several holes, particularly the back nine. Front nine more forgiving, but the back nine will test your game. Most of the staff is very friendly, particularly for a government owned course.
Valleywood Golf Club
Played On 02/19/2017Nice experience
Played in February so can't really comment much on the conditions as they have not started cutting grass yet. Sand traps were in good shape. More uphill approach shots than I expected. Course was very crowded but play moved along quite nicely.
West at Whiteford Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2015Great value
Played on a holiday afternoon with a foursome and was only held up by a group for a few holes that we were able to pass at the turn. Greens were very soft and a bit slow but rolled true. This course has improved tremendously this year after a few years of neglect. Not super challenging but well worth the price. Carts are old but they get you around. Ball washers need to have the liquid replaced as they smelled like a dead animal was in each one. Hit your putts firm and rather than wash your ball just get a clean one from your bag. The sand traps are definitely not sand. Hopefully this will be addressed next year. Overall a very good value for ten dollars for eighteen and a cart.
Raisin River Golf Club - West Course
Played On 08/29/2015Enjoyable course without much trouble
Enjoyed the course and the conditions were very good. Par 5's are rather short and all are reachable in two. Water does not really come into play but there is a lot of sand both in the fairways and around the greens. My only complaint is that although the greens held the ball well and rolled very true they were a bit on the slow side. I would like this course a lot more if the greens were faster. This is a course to build confidence as it is not very difficult.
Thank you so much for playing Raisin River! We are glad that you liked the course. Come back and see us again soon!
Tamaron Country Club
Played On 06/24/2015Course is in much better shape than past few years
Under new management and you can tell. The course is in much better shape although still too much crabgrass on some of the tees. Fairways are in good shape and cut properly. They have also reduced the length of the rough which helps. The greens have plenty of grass, maybe too much as they are a bit slow and somewhat firm, but they roll true. The course does not drain well, so they still have some issues from all the rain in June. Several blind shots to elevated greens. Back nine is short with a few easy holes but can also cause problems with all the trees, hills and blind shots.
Black Bear Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2013Very nice course and facility
I have played a few PB Dye courses before, and this one did not disappoint. The fairways are very generous and in great condition, with no water and the sand is avoidable. The course becomes challenging when approaching the greens. Most are well guarded by sand and have rather undulating greens that can be deceptive the first few time you play here. There is enough elevation change to make the course interesting. The greens do putt very well, although I would not call them fast. Great practice facilities. The place is not crowded, so the pace was very good. I liked the course so much I came back the next day for another round.
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/4/2013Don't play any break on the greens
Thanks again to Golf Now for a great deal on golf. This is a nice enough golf course with some pretty challenging holes. The water really does not come into play, but the sand traps will find you. The greens are rather fast and roll very well. The only issue I had with them is that they really do not break very much. This would be ok, but they look like they break and they do not. If there is any downhill on your putt, be careful as the ball just keeps rolling. You definitely want to hit the practice green so you can get a feel for the greens. Not very crowded so the pace was very good.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 11/3/2013Nice, but not memorable
First of all, a very friendly staff and a heck of a deal on Golf Now for a Sunday PM tee time at an upscale course. That said, the course did not really impress me as much as I had hoped, The grass was a bit shaggy on the tees and fairways. The ball washers looked like they were 25 years old with towels that have seen much better days. The traps were inconsistent, with some needing more sand. The greens were well maintained and had very good pace, but were very difficult to read. Very nice practice area and driving range. Excellent GPS system made things much easier to figure out for a first timer on this course.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve, and we are working towards getting things up to par. Thank you for playing Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
