Osprey Point Golf Club - Hawk/Raven Course
Played On 07/11/2018Another great round
Osprey Point is a great Palm Beach County recreation facility. It is 3 nine hole layouts that allow the course to decide which two make an 18 hole round. Played Falcon/Raven today. Hawk closed this month for summer maintenance- Falcon was closed last month. Great time again. Course conditions were good on Falcon, the punch work was still growing in and greens were a bit slower. Raven was untouched so greens were great. Course congratulations were wonderful. Playing in an area without housing everywhere- priceless. Great value and conditions.

The course has always had great reviews. I booked a round with a coworker that plays. The friendly bag guys took our bags and directed us the the pro shop. The pro shop was in a trailer as they have construction on the original beautiful facility going on- no worries. I was here to play golf, not socialize. The proshop employees were efficient, fast and friendly. They checked our reservations and thanked us. We paid and the bag guys directed us towards the starter area. The starters were extremely nice and was able to gets us on 15 minutes early and join another twosome. Local knowledge was shared by the other players to make a great round better.
The course is laid out in western Palm Beach County. The wildlife and natural beauty is in full display. The course is very fair with most problems in full view. The conditions were superb, lush fairways and beautiful greens. I will definitely be back.
What a fantastic review. We border the Everglades in West Boca and the wildlife and scenery you spoke of is truly what makes us special. We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed yourself so much and can't wait for you to return.

The drive up the entrance was different and I’ve driven it before. Some trees were evidently damaged and removed by last years hurricane season. The driving range looked amazing on my walk towards the pro shop. My clubs were put on a cart by a friendly attendant. The pro shop employee was also nice and checked my GolfNow tee time- prepaid. I was given a slip for the starter and asked if I’d like a couple warm up balls. I took a small bucket and headed to the range. Beautiful grass teeing area and targets marked with today’s yardage. I finished and headed to the putting green. Beautiful and fast. I had high expectations for this round. The starter sent a couple and another single out with myself to make our foursome. Tee area was nice, and a swing later we were heading down the fairway. The fairways were amazing, lush and completely green with grass, mowed closely to look like a grass mat. I hit my approach and filled the divot with the green sand mixture. The greens didn’t disappoint, closely mowed and fast. The round continued with continued amazement at the course condition. Having played here on and off for years, from Doug Ford’s Lacuna (cow pasture) to the buy out and restoration, I was happy to see a great course design finally rewarded. A great mix of par 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s. Trees that were evidently damaged by the storms and removed allowed more sunlight onto the course. Grass that was thin in the areas guarded by the trees was now lush. Water coming into play on many holes, beautiful sand in the many bunkers. A great round enjoyed by all. Truly one of the better courses and its semiprivate access allows play by all willing to travel. I’m definitely playing again as I joined for a summer membership.
Thank you JOHNNYAT561 for the EXCELLENT review! Thank you so much for the detailed comments about your experience & recommendation to fellow players. We're pleased to read that you enjoyed the course conditions and have taken advantage of our annual Summer Membership program! We look forward to having the opportunity to call this your HOME course!
Boca Greens Country Club
Played On 02/24/2018Great company from a man named Roger, I was paired with.
First time playing. Got there early to warm up and putt on the greens. Pro shop employee was friendly and professional. I booked a time from GolfNow. I showed up at first opening. Paid my fees and bought a small bucket. My bag was loaded by a friendly young man. I was directed to the driving range, a grass tee area that was set up nicely. I enjoyed my warmup hitting half the balls. I made my way to the practice green. Rolling greens with consistent results. I checked in with the bag man/starter now, and expressed that I was game to leaving early if he had a spot. My tee time was 8:22 and I approached him at 8:35 thinking I missed my call? He told me a regular took my spot as it was there usual group? Hmm not too happy. He did pair me with another single and send me off the back nine. Roger was a nice guy and we chatted while we waited at the tee box for the group ahead to get moving- not looking good. They finally cleared and off we went. The 10th hole is a dogleg right to an elevated green. The course was a bit spotty and bunkers a plenty, looking more like dirt than sand. The bunkers weren’t sand but a thin hard sand dirt mixture. We kept waiting for the group ahead, however no ranger, and we were two clear holes back. They stopped at the 18th and left, only playing 9 we assumed. Thankfully. We played the front 9, which was fairly clear, and finished in just over 4 hours. The fairways were spotty, rough thin and bunkers like dirt, not sand. Interesting Joe Lee layout that has fallen into a slight bit of neglect. The reviews are mostly good however a few stuck out, stating the same complaints
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 10/15/2017Always friendly, always fun
The course has exhibited growing pain in the past. The greens have been made better by late summer maintenance. They are rolling true and a decent test with good speed. The fairways are green with grass and the tee boxes are much better now than in the past. This course gets a lot of play so it’s difficult to keep in pristine condition but the crew has kept it going in a great direction. The layout is challenging but not overly so, as to destroy your day if your not hitting your target precisely. There are risk and rewards available if your game is solid. Great friendly staff will make you want to come again.

Read reviews- tight fairways, nice greens, tee boxes and fairways are work in progress. First tee box was ok but domed? (other tee boxes are similar). The views to the fairway showed a very tight landing area. I hit a baby draw that settled into the fairway, my cart partner hit a fade right, landing near the creek that runs down the right side. The others both went right as well. No driving range and tight fairways- this is going to be fun. The second hole was the same thing- tight fairways. The third hole had us all shaking our heads. A par 3 playing over 225yds- slight dogleg to the right. My SwingxSwing lists it as a par 4 and another name course- Lucerne Lakes GC. We played it as a par 4. The course was in good shape and the greens were excellent. It was a fun day had by all. The staff was friendly and attentive. Local knowledge passed on in warning- a pond in landing zone on the 4th hole, a pond on 7th hole before the green. Water, tight fairways and small greens are some of the difficulties you'll find at this course. Friendly staff and nice facilities are also here making for a fun day. I'd recommend this course, just bring your A game and B or C grade balls- lots.

The course reduces prices at 2pm from $85 to $54. I booked a 2pm time and arrived early to hit balls. Greeted by a friendly starter and directed to temporary pro-shop (lots of construction). Proshop staff was friendly but not warm. Paid $7 for a small bucket of 40+/- balls. Nice grass range with plenty of targets. Left range with 15 balls remaining. Starter asked if I wanted to tee off alone to beat a group of 10 that would be teeing off shortly- THANK YOU. Joined a lovely couple from Missouri on the 1st green. They had played before and it would keep us from playing too fast. The play was continuous but not slow- very nice. The fairways were good/very good. The bunkers (we all go there at some point) seem to be concrete with a light top dressing of thin sand. Absolutely HORRID. No greenside explosion shot of sand stopping near the cup here. Try chipping or putting out of these traps. The greens appear spotty BUT play very fast and true- Absolutely wonderful. On the turn I purchased a $5.50 hotdog that lasted (burp) to the 18th hole- very pricey. My thoughts are this- $85 during peak time- pretty pricey. $54 after 2pm- much more in line. The course is above average in play minus the bunkers. Water, bunkers, forced carry to test your game. GPS equipped carts are a blessing and a curse. When you get near a restricted area- i.e. greens or whatever? (not marked) the carts tells you and proceeds to shut you to a crawl till you exit. Sometimes the warnings come as your driving on the cart path. I would definately play again but after season when the prices should be adjusted down. It will be a nice time whenever you play here. Not for the frugal golfer though.
Polo West Golf Club
Played On 02/07/2016Local gem in a state crowded with overpriced courses.
Got a great deal on GolfNow- reviews were mixed. Was understandably concerned, but for $10 dollars for 18 holes in seasons- worth a try. I arrived early for my 7:30am tee time to hit the range. It was cold 52 degrees (42 feels like by my phone app.) and wind was blowing at 16-20mph. The manager pulled up and was ready at 7am. Bought a small range bucket for $5 and headed to the range. Nice grass hitting area but targets- few and far between. The manager Richard escorted me to the first tee box (no signs as stated in other reviews) and told me which way to go. The printed heavy paper scorecard had me concerned- what did I get into? Richard advised me to look at some of the holes - especially #3 par 5 double dogleg peninsula green before hitting. I use SwingxSwing and it was listed. The tee boxes were spotty but the fairways and greens were in very good/great shape. The fairways were covered in grass with very few bare spots- better than many higher priced courses. The greens were well manicured and cover completely. Contours and green speed were nice. Green speed was fairly fast- definitely not slow and the ball rolled nicely. Bunkers though wet, looked well maintained and weed free. Suitably impressed as I finished #9 and headed to #1 tee box to begin my second nine to make it an 18 hole round. The price was very fair and the course plays nicely. The layout isn't especially difficult but the holes are long. Hitting the greens in regulation will require nice shots. Forced carry to some holes, water on others. Long par 3's. I enjoyed the round and will be back- price and conditions are just too good not to.
Park Ridge Golf Course
Played On 02/05/2016Hilly course from reclaimed landfill by Palm Beach County.
I purchased a HotDeal for a great price- late in the afternoon. Hoped to get in at least 15 holes. I arrived early and checked in, to a courteous pro shop, and was greeted warmly. My reservation was waiting and I purchased a small bucket to warm up while waiting for my tee time. The starter was friendly and I told him if he had an opening earlier I would happily accept that as I headed to the range. The wind was blowing at @16mph and I thought this was going to be a nightmare round- unfamiliar, hilly, hidden risks? Cold and windy on the nice driving range. The started kept his word and sent a cart guy to fetch myself and a younger gentleman, Mike, I had struck up a conversation with on the range and would now have as a guide to this hilly course. We were also paired with an older couple playing 9 holes. The course was in nice shape, cart path only 1 - 4 and 17. Rangers were present and extremely polite and helpful. Very hilly for Florida (nice elevation changes), and interesting layout that was fair. We finished all 18 holes. After a bad start at another PBC course, this course is a blessing- the county should run all courses like this and John Prince. Vey happy and impressed.
Thank you for your review of Park Ridge. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your round of golf and that our golf met your expectations in regards to customer service. We hope to see you again soon.
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 06/21/2015Nice old Florida course.
Friendly reminder that quiet old school country clubs still exist. Friendly staff started an enjoyable round. Played as a single but was hooked up with a friendly couple and another single. The course is straightforward, but tough and fair. Greens were previously aerated but healing nicely. Greens rolled true and fast. Bathrooms and water are available on the course. Friendly cart lady available as much as time, course crowds allow- we were helped 2X. Great round memories. Definitely recommend.
Eagle/Osprey at Okeeheelee Golf Course
Played On 02/23/2015Starter is a joke.
Prepaid a GolfNow time slot. Checked in early. 3 others no show yet. Went to clubhouse to sign in and was met by an extremely friendly pro shop staff member. After going back to the starter I was told I was being bumped due to the fact that the threesome brought a unpaid/no tee time forth. The starter then told me he would try to fit me in and I would have to wait?!!!!!!! Totally unprofessional first time play. I prepaid and was bumped by a golfer that was a walk on. The pro shop staff handled this but my taxes pay for this starter- a PBC employee and this is acceptable? I had prior appointments that couldn't be changed. This brings a bad light to a public county facility that has had prior comments concerning bad employees and favoritism. The course was in good shape and played nicely. Hats off to the pro shop- THUMBS DOWNTO THE STARTER.

Played On 02/15/2015New maintenance- Billy Casper Golf. Improving Conditions
The new maintenance management company is really trying hard to bring back a course that was seriously neglected. The greens are being repaired and started to look like greens. Still some bad areas on the greens but much improved- most of the patchwork repairs have grown in. The rough and waste areas are trimmed and cleaned up. The fairways have been mowed but still patchy. I can deal with a fairway that is growing in- just reposition the ball. The bunkers are decent. The greens went from horrible to acceptable. Nice layout that's finally being given the attention that it deserves. The greens fees are in line with the course condition. The employees are nice and friendly- however not overly so. I think by next season it will be back. If you play now understand that they are trying and improvements are showing. I like the course layout and from the amount of play I think others are starting to enjoy it again also.
Madison Green Country Club
Played On 01/13/2015Nice Course. Over rated and priced. Too penal.
The people are very nice. The starter was nice- yardage book and course info helpful. GPS is a joke- more than 1/3 of small screen are ads. Think very small tablet, almost a phablet. The course starts off well. Nice fairway and trouble in view left (water) right (scrub/marsh area). Nice fairway and green. The next tee shot is blind dogleg left- many blind shots to follow. The fairways are narrow and slope towards hazards- the GPS doesn't tell you how much the fairways slope towards the hazards. Great tee shots can/ will roll into the hazards. The price on GolfNow was a Hot Deal and still overpriced in my opinion. Good review but only if you have local knowledge. Some greens still showing aeration plugs but healing nicely. I would only play again as a Hot Deal. Not that memorable. Overpriced,Overhyped, too penal. NO BATHROOMS SEEN ON COURSE- Ladies beware.
Yes. I wrote two reviews. The first was written just after playing. The course is beautiful but way too penal. I went from recommended to not recommended. The thoughts that the course brought after consideration- Too expensive for the masses, way too penal- great shots go bad, too blind- yes it's target golf but the rewards are few while the penalties are great. After consideration I still feel the course is overrated.
Madison Green Country Club
Played On 01/13/2015Nice course but too penal
Course receives great reviews- much deserved. The pro shop, bag fellows, and starter were all top shelf. The carts have a GPS (very small- think small tablet) that had the bottom third covered in ads, and hard to see. My golfing buddy and I are paired with another pairing of golf buddy's from Canada. First tee was impressive and fair- water left- fairways decently wide- trouble right. The trouble soon starts. The next tee shot and many after are blind/ narrow and the yard ages on the GPS do not take into account the slope towards the hazards. The group behind us was three older men playing best ball (after a 7:37 tee time?) and playing from the seniors? tees. After a couple of holes of them pressing us by hitting up and then standing there leaning on there clubs instead of relaxing in the carts- we let them through. The then proceede to take one of our balls and move on- LOL. The course was in fine shape, greens had been aerated prior but growing in very nicely. The course is just too penal. I hit a large drive on hole12 -(251 yards towards the center of fairway) that rolled to the left and down the slope a foot away from the water hazard- 60 yards from the green. The course has too many blind shots that the GPS doesn't advise you as to the slope and other hazards that come into play from the roll. As another reviewer wrote (Top 1000 contributor) this is a target golf course. I enjoyed the round and the scenery. I don't believe that I will want to drive all the way there unless the price is reduced by another GolfNow "Hot Deal".

Let's be honest- How can you go wrong for $15 weekdays and $20 on a weekend? The course has new maintenance management and it's showing. The rough has been cleaned up and is starting to be groomed, the fairways are vastly improved, and the greens are really starting to play true. The course isn't a private members only but is a nice neighborhood links that is friendly and close.
When I wrote this review- The course had been in really bad shape-if that's to be believed. Tee boxes /fairways were weeds. Rough was so overgrown and deep you would lose a ball if 4 people saw it land and searched. The new Billy Casper Mgmt. came in and really started putting time and effort into reshaping the course. It did show HOWEVER it was late in the season and the greens never returned- they patched in pieces of sod but too little too late. I still believe it's a very nice layout- challenging but not penal. I'm hoping that this course will return. They have started, I still like it. Just my opinion.

Round started slowly. My golf buddy and I were paired up with wonderful couple- husband and wife. The course was in great shape. No beverage cart- be prepared- it was very hot and sunny. The course really has no rough so no bad shots. I will try and play again.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We decided to close one of our nine-hole courses each month over the summer to do maintenance in hopes of being able to provide the best conditions possible for 18 holes all summer long. We look forward to your return. Keep 'em in the short stuff!
