River Bend Golf Course
Played On 07/02/2018SLOOOOOOWWWWWWW
This is by far the slowest paced course in Illinois. Possibly America. I am not really sure what the ranger's job is on this course. It certainly is not to tell people to speed up or let a group or two to play through. I have played 18 holes on other courses in the same amount of time. If you don't mind making a picnic out of the day on a golf course or being behind groups of people who have never been on a course before and are just learning how to play the game, then have at it. I like the course but I can't stand literally sitting around between holes.

When we started (11:45) the course was wet but not soggy. I thought after about 6 or 7 holes that someone would have come out and said it was dry enough to ride at least 90 degrees in the fairways. Between the wind and the sunshine, the course dried out enough to ride the fairways. If you have played this course, fairways can be wide and if you are not on the cart path side, you can have some long walks between shots and the cart. My guess is that it added about an hour to the round. I like the course but not on "Cart Path Only" days.

This is a very challenging 9 hole course. The biggest problem here almost always is pace of play. We played as a 3-some and it was 3 hours for 9 holes. The price attracts a lot of people who are learning the game or think it is a picnic on a golf course. No sense of urgency to hit a ball, get out of the fairway after they hit or get off a green. Zero golf etiquette noticed here. However, there is a nice golf course under all of that.
