Elephant Rocks at Williams
Played On 06/09/2018Didn't Need Driver
Elephant Rocks is an incredibly short course (about 6000 yards from the back) as are other courses in the area. This place separates itself with it's great conditions, pine tree-lined fairways, and EXCEPTIONAL staff. Everyone from the clubhouse clerk to the ranger made us feel like regulars although it was our first time there. Saw the ranger several times throughout the round and he always made sure to stop and see how we were doing, made sure we were having a great time. An amazing course that makes you forget you're golfing in Arizona. A true gem.

Given that it''s the only public course in Flagstaff, it gets busy. We waited for carts for our late round and never saw a ranger. There was a threesome in front of us hacking away that refused to let us play through. The course itself is in great shape with a good layout (back nine layout is far more impressive than front). It plays very short with a handful of boring holes. It is a great course to play if in the area but not one you make a trip up north for like one would for Sedona, Williams, etc.

Conditions are ALWAYS excellent, never a doubt you'll find a gorgeous course when you play here. Here's the real reason I write this review. A buddy and I (both good golfers) got paired with two older gentlemen who were very nice (also decent golfers themselves). After a couple holes the marshal came up to us and let us know that we were falling a bit behind - that we should try and speed up just a little. He was super nice and not once did we feel as if he was talking down to us. We weren't hacking it up, we were simply enjoying the round and looking over every shot, all while having nice conversations with the other twosome. At the turn, the starter and marshal told us they were going to have us skip holes 10 and 11 and come back to them after 18. Again, they were incredibly nice about it all and even gave each of us a Southern Dunes hat for being so cooperative. We had no issue doing what they asked, after all, they were looking out for their guests. I've been here plenty and this was by far the nicest staff I have ever encountered. I came to the conclusion that they truly care about keeping pace of play but will NOT sacrifice anyone's good time to do so, including the group slowing it all down. Bravo Southern Dunes.
Ahwatukee Country Club

Let me start by just saying the pace of play was horrible, slowest round I've ever played. I don't understand why they can't charge an extra couple bucks and put a Marshall out there, at least on the weekends. I'm not sure what about this course attracts so many beginners but it makes the pace of play HORRIBLE. I can't bare watching a foursome in front of me top it over and over down the rough, and the foursome in front of them do the same. I get it, you have to start somewhere, we all did, but put a person out there that can regulate what's going on. There's absolutely no reason there should be three groups stacked up on a par 4. The conditions were less than mediocre but understandably so considering they were getting ready to scalp evening. Don't think condition gets better anyway so there's really no reason to come back unless I'm looking to bring a beginner here - obviously I don't have to worry about a Marshall hurrying us up if I do.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 09/07/2015SUPER Short Course
Nice course. Fairways were in decent shape and so were the tee boxes. The only thing worth complaining about are the greens, not even in July should greens be in as bad as shape as that. There's no driving range, just a couple nets where the balls were very limited. No chipping green, and a poor "putting green" if it's worth calling it that. The gentlemen at the bag drop could use a bit of an attitude change but I'm not there to make friends with the employees so no biggie I guess. There's no turn at 9, when you're out you're out. The course and the layout I enjoyed a lot, it's just a shame that they can't put the rest of the puzzle together.
We apologize if you didn't find the greens in the best shape. We would like to learn a bit more about your experience - can you please send us an email at ArizonaGrandGC@Gmail.com. We appreciate the feedback.
Revere Golf Club - Lexington Course
Played On 08/06/2015Only a 15 minute drive from the strip.
Recently played both courses on a trip to Vegas and I have to say, the condition of this course was incredible considering we're mid summer, these conditions were even good enough to be accepted in winter. I can only imagine how beautiful the place is when it's 75 and sunny. Both courses offer great views of the strip and have very dramatic elevation changes. If I had to pick one to go back to, it would be Lexington. If played from the correct tees, it makes you play smart golf which in turn rewards you with good scoring. The Concord course is equally as nice but I feel the open-ness tempts any average golfer to drive it as close to the green as you possible, which can create havoc if played as such. The greens on both were good although tough to read. There was an online deal that made it BEYOND good for your money but if and when I go back, I wouldn't mind paying top dollar as it definitely competes with the courses you find on and around the strip. The bunkers were in tough shape but I did notice they were redoing them and putting in new sand, and after seeing the fresh sand, it looks like they are going to match the rest of the course's conditions.
