The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 04/16/2024Great Test - But wait till they mow more
Course was playing as hard as it possibly can because if you're just a couple yards off line, the rough will eat your ball and you'll never find it... Once they mow it'll be a bit more reasonable!
Greens were almost fully healed from punching, but I'd say in another week they'll be able to mow everywhere and greens will be healed... Conditions are pretty lush so fairways are great right now!

Only played here twice so far but I’m starting to like it. It’s a solid track with some quirky elevation changes but it forces you to use all the clubs in your bag and conditions are great considering a couple months ago it was looking sad… they had just opened the full 18 again and especially considering that, you have to say they’ve done a great job. Amenities are lacking a bit but the golf is good.
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 12/31/2023Good playing surfaces but not a pretty course
Mountain vistas were great and the playing surfaces were great except for the bunkers which were mostly hardpan. Greens were a tad slow but rolled true. Fairways and tee boxes were in excellent condition.
The grounds outside of the playing surfaces did not look pretty including all water hazards and other decorative vegetation. Could have been residual from a bad storm a few months back but it looked more like neglect or transitionary conditions…
I’d love to have played it when it first opened and will try it again sometime when hopefully they’ve had time to work on the cosmetics.
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 12/31/2023Great golf but needs some TLC
The course has wonderful mountain vistas (like all courses in the area) and is great to play. All areas that normally apply to the game were really good. Tee boxes and fairways were lush but cut well and with consistent height throughout. The fairway was always well defined from the dormant rough which has a nice effect. Greens weren't super quick but rolled well and felt consistent. Everyone was over-reading break all day so I recommend just going at the cup. We missed so many just burning edges because of over-reading. Rough was also evenly lush throughout and easy to hit from so it's nice to have some forgiveness because most of the fairways aren't very wide.
The only negatives about the course:
1) bunkers were generally hard packed and not fluffy. Sure they had a little rain recently but these looked more like neglected maintenance.
2) For the price you would hope the areas surrounding the playing surface would be in better shape. Maybe it's still residual damage from hurricane hillary that hasn't been done but again it felt like much of the aesthetic areas bordering the playing surface were either dead or washed out or unkempt. Most of the stone tablet-signs for each hole were weathered and stained, some areas around the cart paths had standing water and seemingly there were problems with irrigation in various spots. Looked more like scenery at an old budget muni especially considering the great playing surfaces. I wish I could have played it back when it was first constructed. The layout would have really shined visually with full water hazards and sharp manicuring.
If you come to play golf you won't be disappointed, but don't expect a pretty course.

Played On 12/29/2023Old School Vibe w/ good conditions
This place was fun with kitchy decorations and small course feel. It's certainly not a large piece of land so for some people it may feel cramped. Houses are definitely close to the course and easy to hit if you're too loose. The conditions were great EXCEPT for the speed of the greens. I'm sure it's purposeful to help speed up play of casual players. I prefer fast and firm greens but to be fair every green here is pretty small... It's great value for a shorter length 18 and still a par 70. It's a unique combo that plays a bit faster and doesn't feel as overwhelming as a true championship course. Speed up the greens and it could be a real fun tight course test for a lower handicap. Fun vibe especially for more casual players so I'd recommend it for golfing occasions like birthdays or reunions or group outings.
The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 12/19/2023Super tough course but solid conditions in rain
Brutal test of golf, possibly a bit easier in wet conditions though… drained well during the day. Still best to bring extra balls, it’s just so difficult to not lose them!
The Bridges Golf Club
Played On 12/19/2023Decent conditions for rainy round
round started with sun and only a few areas with saturated ground, the course seemed to drain pretty well considering recent rain. We got dumped on for a few stretches but overall the greens rolled true and we didn't notice a drastic change in speed. Still one of the most difficult tests of golf in the bay area, bring lots of balls, you will lose all of them unless you're hitting em dead straight. I suppose with wet conditions it could help and play a bit easier since the ball stops more quickly. Fairways in good condition, some tee boxes were a bit wonky with uneven ground but overall totally fine.
Shadow Lakes Club
Played On 11/28/2023Course needs some TLC but greens were great
They recently re-opened the full 18 and you can certainly notice the recovery conditions around the course, however the greens were in great shape everywhere and rolled consistently well. Great potential once they get the course back to lush conditions. Fun layout, not terribly difficult but the elevation changes definitely make things tricky.
Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort
Played On 11/14/2023Still one of my top Favs in northern CA
Course was in great condition even considering colder and wetter weather. Greens could have used a rolling in the morning but for a Tuesday they played fine. Love the layout, many holes feel gettable but there's always a little twist that makes every hole slightly tricky...
Sadly, pace of play was pretty bad. We even had two marshals come and talk to us during the round about the slow group ahead, yet no change in pace was seen. I suggested the idea of the slow group letting a couple groups behind them play through, but was met with a strange look as though my idea was out of left field... strange.
Anyway, overall I love this course and always enjoy the experience here.
Amisk8er,
Thank you for your review and sharing your experience with us. Sorry the pace was not up to par with our time. We do our best to keep the pace moving along throughout the day and will continue to make improvements with our training to better the experience for our guests.

Greens were a bit slow but rolled true. Recent rain made the course play soft and longer, however the course was still in very nice condition.
Canyon Lakes Golf Course & Brewery
Played On 08/04/2023Needs a little tlc but still a great option
This course needs some groundskeeping love but overall the greens ran true and decently quick. Other areas of the course were playable but in need of work. Beer and food options are solid and all staff were friendly and helpful. Layout is interesting and this course uniquely has two of what I consider the hardest tee shots in the bay area (holes 7 & 14). Get the thai chicken wrap and try their beers!
Blue Rock Springs Golf Course - East
Played On 08/01/2023Decent option for north bay
I've played here a number of times, and overall wouldn't count it as one of my top courses. The conditions are usually the problem here but this time I felt the fairways were nicely kept and the greens were in solidly playable shape. I will say the greens were semi inconsistent with a number of them playing noticeably slower than others, despite severe slope. As long as they keep conditions the way they are now, I would consider coming back. Get a hot deal and it's good value for your money.
Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 07/10/2023Fun Track, currently under maintenance
I've enjoyed Monarch Bay over the years and once again it did not disappoint. Many holes are currently undergoing maintenance which is a good thing although could impact your round if you find yourself in those areas under construction. Greens were rolling true but a little slow for my taste.
Rancho Solano Golf Course
Played On 05/16/2023Corica Park - South Course
Played On 03/27/2023Still Solid
Despite the pricey green fees, this course drains well and still boasts solid conditions (of greens and overall). Not a particularly difficult course, but if your short game isn't sharp you could be stuck on the bogey-train or worse...
Jim's on the course also provides some tasty breakfast burritos and club sandwiches.
All staff I encountered today were friendly and helpful.
TPC Harding Park - Harding Course
Played On 02/07/2023Nice Course - Not worth it for me at all
I got into a short texting battle with a friend about being unhappy with this course, so it's a controversial stance that I have.
Overall the course was in very good condition based on these observations: The fairways were very nicely mowed with a consistent height, however there were quite a few divots that weren't filled. The rough was lush and overall very few spots on the course seemed to be hurting for moisture or lacking grass. The rough however is what makes this course extremely difficult, and that coupled with narrow fairways and tall trees means GIRs are hard to come by. Tee boxes were in great condition and flat.
My biggest issue is with the greens. They are purposely kept slow because of the general amount of traffic the course sees, which I heard from locals that frequent the course regularly and the starter who obviously is there all the time.. This just kills the game for me since putting is such a big part of the scoring process. So even if you do manage to somehow get on the green from the rough, you're likely to 3 putt. It's just so difficult to read the speed, and many greens are inconsistent so the same putt you had on the previous green might fly by because it's faster.
The second big issue for me is that I really can only recall 4-5 holes vividly and that just makes for boring golf. The course is flat and the test is whether or not you can hit the ball dead straight onto a narrow fairway. That's all... The rough is basically a stroke penalty which is fine, but couple that with slow greens and a sterile layout, I just don't see a reason for me to drive an hour to the city, then 2 hours back home.
For a local with a resident card, I'm sure it's a great deal and can help your driving and iron game. But for a non-local it's simply overpriced and far less enjoyable than so many courses in the bay area that have true character and still provide a challenge with good course conditions. Also, their range with toptracer cameras is great!
Blue Rock Springs Golf Course - West
Played On 01/24/2023An easy but enjoyable course in good condition
greens are currently rolling well, fairways are lush, minimal slosh throughout. Course is currently in great condition. Pace of play was the only concern, but afternoon rounds here are generally not quick. Glad to have come back with good conditions. Friendly folks too.
Yocha Dehe Golf Club at Cache Creek Casino Resort
Played On 11/14/2023Still a top favorite of mine
Overall conditions were very good, a bit soft from recent rain and greens were a bit slow but overall high quality course maintenance. Only real complaint is the pace of play being slow even with the Marshall explaining to us twice that there was a slow group ahead, no change in pace and I suggested the slow group let some other groups through but the Marshall inexplicably dismissed that very simple idea.
Still this place is one of my all time favorites in CA…
Corica Park - South Course
Played On 03/27/2023Continues to be a solid course in the bay
Forgiving but no pushover, Corica South continues to be a solid offering in the Bay Area. Greens rolled quick and true, fairways mostly good, bunkers good, tee boxes good, rough good.
The overall length plays shorter than the number I’d say since every hole is flat and the fairways are firm (even despite all the recent rains)… but the course has some teeth in places and certainly requires some decent shooting to stay in the mix.
Make sure your putting/chipping is on point since this is likely where you will gain or lose the most strokes out here.
A bit pricey for a flat course that is pretty straightforward however conditions are always good including greens, so it feels worth it to me.
I also like Jim’s on the course, good breakfast burrito and club sandwich… friendly staff throughout today which was nice to see.
The Reserve at Spanos Park
Played On 10/05/2022Cool Course - quick greens!
Hardly anything to complain about here. Tee boxes, fairways, greens and amenities all were great. The only one thing that needs some work are the bunkers. It's maybe a bit far from home so I won't be a frequent customer, but this is certainly a nice course. Easily walkable and while it isn't a terribly long course, plenty of hazards come into play and make for some tricky shots some times.
