Regulation Eighteen at Scherwood Golf
Played On 07/13/2014Wet
First time playing this course and we played after heavy rains the day and night before. The course was still in decent shape but there was a lot of water and different spots on the course which did affect some play. Staff was friendly. Facilities are nice. Food and beverage is a good value. Will definitely go back.
University Park Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2014Much better now
I played this course a couple of years ago and my friends and I said we would never go back. The course was under construction. There were piles of dirt and mud with standing water everywhere. After passing by it a few times years later the course looked in good shape. We tried it out and have done a 180. Very nice course. Very well kept greens. Some t boxes could use some attention. The course can get crowded. We had 8 carts waiting to go on the 1st t at our scheduled t time. Pace of play was pretty good. My friends and I will definitely be back.
Eagle Creek Golf Club - The Pines Course
Played On 05/04/2014Well maintained beautiful course
Course layout is fun. It's not too difficult. A lot of holes play fairly straight. The greens are in very good condition and are not too fast. Good pace of play. Would definitely go back.
Woodbine Golf Course
Played On 11/29/2013Cold weather golf
We played during the winter season so there was hardly no one out there. The course is a little quirky in spots in regards to lay out and there we no signs for what hole you were on until you hit the flagstick on the green. Thankfully staff gave us a description of the tricks to navigate which was very helpful. Course was in good condition. The green were as hard as concrete which made it tough to stop the ball. T boxes were all hard so I gave up trying to put a tee in the ground and practiced hitting my 3 wood off the deck. It was fun. Best of all on hole 4 I was saved a ball dropping in the water as my ball bounced 30 feet of the frozen pond and dropped on the fringe.
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club
Played On 11/9/2013Great use of golfnow hot deal
It was a very nice course. A lot of water on almost every hole. A lot of bunkers. Greens were fair and not too difficult. Fairways were in very good shape. It was very challenging. GPS carts were a big plus. Regular green fee rates are way too high but getting the golfnow hot deal to play this course made it possible for my twosome. We were both happy to have been able to play this course.
Old Oak Country Club
Played On 11/2/2013Solid traditional style course
A very nice course. It is very well maintained with groundskeepers out there in November keeping things cut. Beautiful scenery and golf environment. Pace of play was just right. The course was challenging for the short game as it seemed like every pin placement was perilous to get at and required you to putt on some type of break.
Woodruff Golf Course
Played On 10/27/2013Two very different 9's
The front 9 is very basic. Each hole is a short par 4 that walks you back and forth. Trees line the fairways for each hole. Very much a beginner style course set up. The back 9 is a totally different experience with undulating fairways and doglegs. It was more challenging and more fun to play. My twosome did get stuck behind some very slow players who never let us play through. So we were waiting on these guys every hole. The ranger did come out to talk with them once but it didn't seem to help. The course as a whole was in very good condition. I would play it again just for the back 9.
Lost Marsh Golf Course
Played On 10/26/2013Scenic Golf
A number of really nice holes. Playing around the lake on the front 9 was really fun. Greens were nice and soft. A number of long par 4's made the course challenging.
Nettle Creek
Played On 9/25/2013Liked it so much we played it twice
Pace of play was great. Our threesome finished the first 18 in under 4 hours. The course was very well maintained. The greens were in great shape. Holes 2 and 15 were very memorable. Couldn't beat the value either. Can't wait to go back.
Odyssey Golf Course
Played On 9/21/2013Needs a greens keeper
Good pace of play. The back 9 was the highlight of the course. It had some nice hole designs, especially hole 16 with the island green and 18 coming into the very impressive looking clubhouse. The front 9 was okay. My foursome was immediately turned off by the state of the greens. They were filled with ball marks, gouges and dry spots. My buddy had a 6 ft putt hit a ball mark, pop up into the air and stop dead. With the golfnow hot deal the course was average value. I definitely wouldn't pay more. There are other courses in the area that are nicer and kept in better shape for the money. Also we were looking forward to a cart girl but instead got a cart boy?!
The Links at Carillon - Red/White
Played On 8/3/2013Nice course
Not a long course. Lot of shorter par 4's. Course was in good condition but more than a few greens had non repaired divot marks. Staff was friendly but we didn't interact with them too much. My only complaint was pace of play. My twosome was stuck behind people all day. We would wait at each tee box for 3-5 minutes just waiting for the players ahead of to tee off. They were waiting for the people before them. It didn't seem like there were a lot golfers there but we were all bunched up. Seemed odd this would happen at a course with 27 holes.
Manteno Golf Club
Played On 7/20/2013Makes for a nice round.
Not too crowded. Great pace of play. Course in good condition. Greens are pretty flat. Some greens are a little burned but it is to be expected with the heat lately. Hole 11 is a very unique hole with a narrow shot off the tee to a 90 degree left dogleg. A hard hole but fun. Staff is great.
Lincoln Oaks Golf Course
Played On 7/5/2013Good mix
The front 9 is a fun mix of par 3's and 5's. Some holes are side by side on another which caused a lot of people playing in each others fairways. This slowed pace of play. The greens are small but generally well maintained although one hole had deep gouges taken out of it. All in all a nice course with friendly staff. Better to play when it's not busy.
Tuckaway Golf Course
Played On 6/23/2013Requires precision
Tough course. A number of the fairways are like pendulums swinging left and right. There are also a number of blind shots over hills. The fairways are often tree lined which poses a lot of shot difficulty if you stray from the fairway. The greens are small but mostly flat and not too fast. Fun and challenging course.
Oak Springs Golf Course
Played On 6/23/2013Nice course
Well maintained fairways and greens. Some really fun par 3's especially the 200 yard hole from the elevated tee over water. Each hole is spaced out enough so that You don't run into others golfers coming across your fairway too often which is nice. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Deer Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2013Crowded
Good course. Kept in good condition. I've played the course a number of times and more often than not it is jam packed. Pace of play is very slow.
Minne Monesse Golf Course
Played On 6/4/2013Fun course
Each hole is unique. The course winds up, down and around hills with elevated tee boxes and greens.
Kankakee Elks Country Club
Played On 5/12/2013Favorite course to play in the area
Not too much water or sand hazards but the course still plays tough. The greens are very fast and many are elevated with a lot of contour. It's a great value. It is the favorite most challenging course in the area for my friends and I.
