Prairie Trails Golf Course
Played On 07/27/2014Has improved in recent years
I last played this course a couple of years ago and wasn't at all impressed with the front nine. The front, which is the original course and about half a century older than the back, was not in great shape wasn't much fun to play.
After a couple of years, however, they've brought that nine up to par with the back to make a complete 18 hole experience that is much better than before.
A couple of greens were a little rough but they were running a consistent speed.
Overall, unless you are getting a good discount on Golfnow (we were) it might not be worth passing up other area courses (I'd rank Sand Creek and Hesston ahead of it, and probably Quail Ridge as well, though I haven't played there in years so can't attest to it's current state.) It is a nice change of pace and, with the improved conditions, somewhere I'll be heading back to as long as I can find good deals on tee times.
One more note: Despite incredible weather, the course wasn't busy at all and had a great rate of play. Although we had booked 18 holes we were really only expecting to get in 9-12 due to only having less than three hours to play, but we got through 15 holes in that time.
