Great course

Played on a weekday afternoon. Not very crowded. Would have finished in 3 hours except for the multi-group stack up starting on 16.
Coming from Phx, this was a pretty easy day trip. The course is in great shape, not too expensive and a nice layout. I could easily be content to play here every day.

Great value

Played saturday morning. Walked in less then 4 hours.
Course conditions were decent. Teeboxes and fairways nice. Greens are pretty good.
Layout is a good challenge from the back tees.
This has always been a favorite course because it is more traditional and definitely not a desert course. Reminds me a bit of San Marcos.
Will always come back when I need a reliably good and economical round.

One of the best in the area

This is one of my favorite courses in the valley. Conditions improve every year. They work hard on keeping the course in good shape and, while it is not perfect, it is far above average.
The staff is top notch in all areas- clubhouse, food and beverage, outside staff and marshalls. Staff turnover is low.
The practice facility is superb. A huge range means you are always hitting from decent turf. The chipping and putting greens are large and well maintained. During peak times they have range attendants keeping things in order.
I hear they also have a very active mens club.
The Bear course is challenging when played from the correct tees. Many holes are deceivingly difficult.
The Cub course is one of the best short courses you will find.

Getting worse

While this is my 'neighborhood' course, I stopped playing here years ago due to many of the reasons cited in other reviews here. However, this has been my main practice facility for ages so this is written from that perspective.
I used to love this range because they had a ball machine that would dole out the exact number of balls you wanted. Insert your prepaid card and press a button until you got what you wanted. For someone like me who has limited practice time on the way home from work, this was ideal. But the machine kept breaking so they switched to punch cards and you now have to get balls in the shop. Far less convenient as you often have to wait in line. I also now end up paying for far more balls than i actually want to hit.
The quality of the range has gone downhill significantly the last few years. Many days during the week are on poor quality mats. When it is on grass, good luck finding actual grass. The chipping green is poorly maintained and the putting green, while large, is only in decent shape a few months a year.
The range is lit at night but many other ranges in the area are too.
Sadly, i will be moving on to greener practice pastures. I'd love to have a high quality course nearby but that course won't be Kokopelli in the near future. Ownership has changed many times. Maybe it needs another one.
