I've played the National a few times but haven't played the International since they shut it down and redid it. At least that's what I recall them telling me a few years ago. Anyway, the course was in perfect condition. Pro level tournament ready. I live in Tampa and have played the Copperhead course where the Valspar is held. This blew it away. To be fair the Copperhead wasn't in tournament condition and I just played the Island course there today and it was pretty d@mn good condition. Not as good as the International. It was extremely windy with gust well past 30mph. It wreaked havoc with the natural draw on my tee shots. I can't hit a cut reliably. I should have never teed off with more than a 4 iron since I can't not hook my hybrid. I would have shot around 80 instead of 90. The greens were super firm and you had to hit them with enough spin to stop the ball. Otherwise it would roll down to a collection area from the elevated crowned greens hopefully on the non short side. More than once I would ended up short sided in these area and hit my pitch a touch long and would end up 30 to 50 feet off the other side.

Staff was super friendly, especially the starter, rangers and pro shop. Range and practice areas were in great shape also. Only nit pick was the bunkers. It did rain the night before and they were the only thing that seemed to hold moisture. That could be design though but I hated them. I'm used to nice dry fluffy sand. Cost me some strokes.

Course always seems to be in top shape. We were the first two off and played in 3 hours. Would have been quicker but the first couple holes it was real misty/foggy and couldn't see our tee shots. Plus it was cart path only. Luckily the started came and found us on hole 4 and said it was changed and only about half the holes were cart path only now. He gave us a new score cards with them highlighted and they were marked on course as well.

This course is a bit of a drive from Charlotte but depending on where you're at it will be faster than heading to Ballyntine (sp?).

The clubhouse is nothing much and no place to hangout after. Just really not much more than a shack but has the necessary stuff ... basic snacks, drinks, and golf balls, etc. Really no bar or dining area. Just restrooms and the previously mentioned stuff. Never seen a beverage cart either.

The course and the staff are great though. I'm from Tampa and play weekly and just played a week in Hilton Head. Still like this course probably better than courses I've paid at least double if not triple.

I was late as Google Maps took me via a new toll road that I didn't know opened and I had no cash or toll pass in the rental. This was no problem for the staff and they had me hurry up and get out before a bunch of groups teed off. Even the group on the tee waved me to hit first. Played the front in 1.5 hours or less. Back was a little longer.

I'm not used to playing in the summer on HHI. Not sure what the normal prices are but seemed ok for not staying there. Usually play mid fall but I'm from Tampa so I'm used to the heat.

The course was in great shape except for a few burnt areas on a couple greens but that's to be expected this time and the pins were well away. There was on hole that was cart path only and one had minor drainage issues but no big deal.

I played decent from the blue tees but with some course knowledge or a yardage book probably would have shot an 80. I'm mainly talking about target lines for driving over trees, etc.

Staff was all very friendly. Could have been more frequent water coolers on the course but the cart girl was around frequently.

Course was mostly in great shape. The greens were in great shape for the most part except a few small areas which seems be unavoidable this time of year. With all the rain, a bunch of holes were cart path only which became a pain in the later part of the round when the heat became brutal and slowed play down a bit.

The course was in good shape and some of the greens that seemed to have damage a month or two ago seemed to have recovered. Overall, a good value.

The course is out in the middle of farmland but it well worth the drive. I drove from Matthews and it was a pleasant drive. The course was in great shape with lots of elevation changes and great views of the surrounding area. Greens rolled true, maybe a bit slower than I'm used to as I left a number of putts just short. The had a nice range but no clubhouse to speak of. The had chips, pre-made sandwiches and a cooler full of drinks. The is fine for me as I rarely eat during a round but there's no real place to eat lunch and have drinks after on premises nor likely nearby.

Booked the night before. Staff was friendly. Didn't hit at the range but looked ok. Apparently, they are rebuilding the club house after it burned down but the trailer used as a pro shop works fine for now. Course was in good shape. Not too hard. Shot a 79 the first time with 3 penalties. I was paired with others who warned me on where to hit or not hit the ball. Not a long course. Even from the tips, you can't hit driver every joke unless you are super precise on turning it where you want. I like that you need to think on some holes and there are a few risk/reward holes.
