Need Rangers

The golf course was in great shape and would have been a lot more enjoyable if the groups ahead of us let faster play through or were held accountable by a ranger or golf shop staff. Two foursomes held play up for everyone behind them from our third hole on. There were open holes ahead of them and they never let anyone through. I confirmed that with the beverage cart and a member of the outside staff who drove by once. I would've definitely left had it not been for my brother playing with me from out of town and was leaving that evening. When you pay $60 to play you should be able to enjoy the experience but when you don't have rangers on the golf course or the golf professional staff making rounds, it's impossible to ensure that for everyone. The groups took near 5 hours to play - waited minutes on EVERY. SINGLE. SHOT. It was miserable. The golf course itself was in very good shape and worth the $60 we paid had pace of play not been a major problem.

you get what you pay for I guess

I know it's a public course, and is located in an area of town that proves to be most convenient for public access, but it's tough to enjoy. The biggest reason is lack of attentiveness to the pace of play. We played on a Friday afternoon at 2:00. How do you not have a Ranger on duty during one of the busiest times of the week??? Or at least one of the golf shop staff occasionally taking a spin around? Nope, nothing....not one time. And it's always this way here. I spent most of my adult life as a staff professional myself, working in the private country club sector....so I believe I know what I'm talking about. You can't go without on course management, at a public facility, during one of the busiest times of the week. There are logically too many inexperienced golfers to not attempt at all to manage the pace of play. Additionally, the carts aren't as clean as they should be...ours was filthy. This also comes back to the management of the cart staff. "Details make the difference". This could be done with more effort and oversight. The cart guy was helpful and attentive to myself and other guests. The beverage cart girl also provided timely and friendly service. Check in was easy, and the range was in overall good shape as well. If they would pay more attention to the pace of play and cleanliness of the golf cars, it would be much more enjoyable. Obviously, pace of play is the real killer here.
