Hominy Hill Golf Course
Played On 09/26/2016Another great county course
I played Hominy for the first time last Monday. Our two some picked up a single who played with us for the first 9. Great course and great conditions. Price is great if you are a resident and certainly doable without a county card. Loved the layout and great conditions. Only let down was by the time we got to about the 14th hole we had two slow foursomes backed up in front of us. I did notice a large amount of people walking this course and the day was perfect for it. As someone who typically rides I was almost tempted to walk this one. Hominy is certainly one of my favorite courses in Jersey.
Howell Park Golf Course
Played On 09/13/2016Great County Course
I'm a county resident so I typically play Charleston Springs but my buddy and I wanted to start playing all of the Monmouth courses. We walked on and were able to tee off right away. No complaints to be had about the course. Like all Monmouth courses, the course was very well maintained. Lots of dog legs on this one and greens are very difficult in my opinion.
I will definitely be playing here again but I do prefer Charleston Springs and Hominy Hill to Howell Park.
Charleston Springs Golf Course - North Course
Played On 09/05/2016Great Public Course
Probably one of the nicest courses I've played in terms of conditions. I've played both the North and South courses and prefer the links-style North over the parkland-style South which tends to be a little tougher. Being county resident you can't beat the price and even for out of county its well worth it. They usually do a twilight special. I believe its $30 or something for 9+.
The only problem with this place is the unfriendly staff.
Knob Hill Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2016Knob Hill
I play this course from time to time when the other courses in the area are too crowded. Conditions are usually pretty decent. Only issue seems to be after it rains and the course doesn't drain too well. The par 5 7th hole is always challenging. Water to the left of the fairway and the green is also surrounded by water. A little bit overpriced in season which makes this course a better play during twilight hours and in the slower season.
The cart girls are always nice and the bar has great food and drinks.
Gambler Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2016Love this course
I try to change up the courses I play but I will always play Gamblers a hand full of times each year. Overall the course is pretty decent for a public course. Conditions aren't always the best but its never too expensive and they are always running specials on off days or during poor weather. The course plays pretty wide open and not very long. I do love the surrounding farmland here as well. The guys in the clubhouse are always great and the starter is the coolest. Nothing uptight about this place either. Food at the bar is top notch. I hope to play here again soon before the end of the season.
Cream Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2016Cream Ridge Golf
Cream Ridge is one of the local courses that I'll play a handful of times throughout the year. The course has a fair amount of water and a couple fun, interesting holes as well as a couple straight up and down par 4s. Best conditions are in the fall or early spring. It does tend to get a little chewed up and burnt late in the summer. Best time to go is in the spring during twilight hours to get a discounted price. Often the back 9 will get a little jammed up with slower groups, typically older guys. Then again, I usually play in a two some so we probably play faster than other groups. This is also a course for 1 or 2 local high schools so sometimes that'll get in the way but the starters will try to get you around them. Great food at the Roost and awesome staff and starter.
Thanks for your review! We're glad you're one of our regulars, and we hope you get back out before the weather gets too cold. Thanks again, and come see us soon!
