Mauna Kea Golf Course
Played On 11/13/2019My Favorite in the World
I've played a lot of the best courses in the world, including Pine Valley, Pebble, Cape Kidnappers, etc. This is still my favorite course. Great conditions, great views and every hole is interesting. There is some local knowledge required on the greens, as is typical, especially for courses with a lot of elevation changes, but this is a don't miss experience.
Hapuna Golf Course
Played On 11/04/2016Wonderful Golf Course
You can spend hundreds of dollars to play Mauna Lani or Mauna Kea or less to play some relatively average courses or you can pay a reasonable amount (for a Hawaii resort course) to play Hapuna, a wonderful course and first class operation. It has interesting terrain, wonderful views and a very interesting golf course that challenges you on the fairways and on the greens. While reasonably challenging, there are safe areas on every hole if you want to play safe. It is well conditioned with excellent greens. A fun course to play.
The staff is helpful, range balls are included as are a well iced up cooler with bottled water for each player. They do not nickel and dime you for the extras.
My only criticism is that they could have a few more options on the tee boxes. a few combo tees would help. 6600 yds is a little long for some while 6000 could be short. Then you go down to 5000 yards.
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 08/31/2016Great Course in Tip Top Condition
We played this course last year and it was just as good. Despite heavy rains in the evening and morning, the course was still in excellent condition and the greens were almost flawless. The only real issue was the traps, which were very gravelly and very hard after the rain. This is a terrific golf course in great shape. It was well rangered and pace of play was excellent.
Raven Golf Club - Phoenix
Played On 02/04/2016Nice Fairways-Bumpy Greens
The course was in excellent condition and pace of play was resonable. This is a very good course, not an exceptional challenge but interesting. My only issue is with the greens. While I like it when they cut the greens down so that you get a decent speed (vs. resort courses that leave then shaggy because many people do not fix ball marks), these did not have enough grass cover to warrant cutting the greens that short. The result is a lot of subtle bumps. You can roll the same putt 3 times and get different results. If they would have left another 1/4 inch, they would have rolled truer. Still an enjoyable round.
West at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 11/01/2015Great Round of Golf
To start with, the course is in great shape. Fairways and greens lush and well cut. Then, as twosome, on a Sunday morning, we played in under 4 hours. Good staff, well organized.
Thank you for the 5 star review! We're so glad you enjoyed your twosome round and the overall experience at the course. We hope to see you again soon!
Ravenwood Golf Course
Played On 08/22/2015Course Still Plays Great
We have played this course many times when we visit. The course is in excellent shape, the pace of play was good and there is a good variety of tees to play. Varied and interesting holes.
jkavazanjian,
We thank you for your recent post. Rain measuring 1.5 inches in 20 minutes did our bunkers no favours last week. Course is back in top condition. A good test for the field participating in the 2016 Men's Sr Amateur- hosted by Golf Canada. Round 2 being contested today.
