While I've played this course many times in the past today was my first time at Bull Run this year. Last year they had a lot of thin fairways but this time the course was in excellent condition. It looks like they did some good work restoring the course to prime conditions (of course all the rainfall we've had this Spring couldn't have hurt). The greens were in good shape as well, rolling a good speed and very true.

I hadn't played Algonkian in many years due to being disappointed in soggy, almost unplayable conditions. A marshal at South Riding said it had been much improved, fairways replanted a few years ago, etc and I should give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised at the conditions, much, much better than I'd expected! Everything about the round was good including the pace of play. I would definitely play here more often. My only complaint is that the greens were running a little slow, seemed like they had been cut but not rolled.

Having played this course many times over the past 10 years or so, I'd say it was in average condition today. There has been a lot of rain recently which certainly affected the fairways and rough. The greens had been recently aerated and were incredibly slow, the slowest I've played anywhere in years. I don't mind when courses aerate their greens; BUT they should let you know in advance when you are booking. Many courses do this; apparently Prenderbrook does not.

After reading recent reviews of the conditions at Bull Run I wasn't expecting a good experience. However, the course was really in pretty good shape given the lack of rain the past few weeks Yes, several of the tee boxes were closed and played from temporary tees, but overall the fairways were in pretty good shape and the greens were in great condition. and rolled true. A very enjoyable round at just under 4 hours on a Friday on one of Northern Virginia's best layouts, and a great value at $54!

On a cool to cold blustery December day the course was still in great shape. And the staff treats everyone as if it's your own private club, very friendly, they make it a great experience.

I've played this course many times over the years and cannot recall another time when the bunker conditions seemed so poor. Many, many holes had bunkers with hard ground / pebbles instead of decent sand. No. 17 is undergoing a renovation of the greenside bunkers and the ones with new sand seem fine. The entire course needs a bunker renovation! Otherwise, fairways and greens were oin good shape.
