Great course

I’ve played this course multiple times in the past. It’s always a good challenge. Today was no exception. All was very good and enjoyable. My only “sub-par” comment was concerning the greens: very rough in spots.

RTJ Would be Ashamed

Given my previous experience at playing other RTJ courses [and this course being a RTJ Design] I was expecting much more than I received. Recognizing this course had just re-opened (2 weeks) out of "Overseed", it was in very poor condition for play: the greens were in "horrible" shape....bumpy and patchy. The locals had implemented the "automatic 2 putt rule"! Fairways were very spotty with only clumps of grass areas; many times you had to move your ball to find a patch of grass. The traps were in wet and sometimes "puddled" condition. The best part of the day was "the company" and no wind (this course has a reputation for a lot of wind). I'll probably not return to this course, given the other choices available in the area. Even with the "Hot Rate"...it was not worth the experience.

Not the Country Club Course

This golf t-time was advertised as Arroyo GC at "Red Rock". If you do not know there is two courses at this venue, you think you are playing the CC course at RedRock. NOT!! There is a CC course (members only) and a Public Course for the general public, Arroyo. The Arroyo Course is the Public course, which is not a quality course as far as condition and quality. The GolfNow listing was a bit "misleading" and dependent on you knowing the facility had two courses and the listing was for the lesser quality "Public" course.

Completely disagree with your assessment that this course isn't a quality track and has poor conditions. I play there regularly and it is a fair course- good shots are rewarded and bad ones usually punished. Also, the conditions are better than almost every other area golf course in the same price range. Sounds to me like you're just angry that you didn't get to play the private course.

Rough "Winter" Condition

I have played this course multiple times previously where it was in excellent shape each time, hence my desire to play it again. This time, not the case: very thin fairways, and very bumpy greens (looked like some sort of fungus maybe). I t was not the same course I had played before. If I return I will make sure of it being in a very much better playing condition. Until then, I cannot recommend this course for playing.

Very enjoyable round of golf

Great customer service for such a low key course. For winter time, the course was in very good conditions: fairways firm and rolled out nicely; greens were in very good “winter” shape with each green 50% sanded (which they did not tell us about). Overall, a good experience and I will play here again.

Secluded and Quality

Located back in the deep woods of Valley Center/Woods Valley I was surprised at the quality and difficulty. The 2 nines are "extremely" different and a very nice change. Make sure you are up on your "target golf"....this course demands accuracy. Very fun and enjoyable day. The pace of play would be my only criticism.....but then again it was Saturday morning, Still not a good reason for a 5 hr. round!!

Spectacular Views, Excellent Course......BUT

This course is a very well maintained course with excellent City of Vegas views. This was all lost in the lack of Customer Service (nobody at Bag Drop.....had to carry my own bag from parking lot) and the pace of play (5:20) was horrendous!! Staff Customer Service INSIDE the Pro Shop was good. Re: pace of play, marshals were on the course and visible but no actions as to pace of play. They looked very nice in their carts dressed in official blue shirts........but they didn't do anything (that we could determined necessitated their need). The course was a little "tricked up" and difficult in spots.......very deceiving with many forced carries!! Overall, the course is fun to play with spectacular views, challenging golf, but very slow play.

A Great "Challenge"

This course is a great test of your overall game with many aspects of ones game tested. The variety of types of holes is very good and doesn't allow for any boredom. It is very visually intimidating and difficult to judge, but a very enjoyable round of golf. The scenic beauty of the course up against the desert mountains is very stunning and impressive along with the big horn sheep roaming the course. Play it, and you'll truly appreciate the perspective of PGA difficulty through a public golf course. This is a "winner"!!

Short but "Difficult"

This course is very nice with very pleasing scenery. At only 6250 yds from the tips the slope of 137 tells you what you're in for.....It plays long with pine tree lined fairways, undulating greens and a lot of visual intimidating shots. Fun course (I will play it again) but difficult!

A "Beautiful" Challenge

This course is very challenging given the length and the greens (grain and undulations). It is a very beautiful and fun course to play with very nice views. I visit this course on each time I visit Monterey, for it is one of the best for the value. Definitely not for the high handicapper; if you are a 15+ handicap, it might be a very long day......but a beautiful place to spend your day!!

Good experience.... very pleasant course

This course is a very nice experience. The slope ratings are very indicative of the difficulty. You need to have a pretty good measure of direction in your game. A lot of trouble is waiting for the "sprayer" of the golf ball. Customer service was very good..... You feel very welcomed by the staff. Overall, I will return to this course.

Just Average

The greens were extremely bumpy and very slow. Sand traps were laced with rocks. Beyond the course conditions the wind blew very hard making the elevation changes add to a very difficult day. I had played this course 7-10 years ago and remembered that I was not impressed then either.

Nice for Troon, but not Excellent as expected

This was a very enjoyable day, but then again playing a Troon course is always an enjoyable day. The course and facility were very much as expected. My only comments (and absolutely not a big deal) would be regarding 1). They do not provide a towel with your cart for cleaning clubs, balls, etc. (they do not have club/ball washers on the carts); 2) the carts did not have GPS; and 3) maintenance crews did not stop their engines when close to us when we were hitting.

Again, not a big deal, but I look at little things as this as part of the Customer Service aspect of a club.........and this was below what I normally find "standard" at Troon Courses!

Tricky and fair

Very tricky and "target" golf course to play for the first time. Must be accurate and precise with some drives; Not a lot of margin for inaccuracy on this course. Overall, fun day and enjoyable. Would I play it again....yes!......Just because I now understand the course and where to hit (place) it. This could be a very frustrating course for a high handicap golfer 18+!!

For a Troon Course.....just "average"

This course is average as far as Troon Managed is concerned with open fairways and minimum rough. First of all it is 30 minutes outside of town in a newer housing development, so it is still in its infancy and also plan on a little bit of a drive. You can tell it has the beginnings of a Troon experience, but not quite the experience of a Maderas, Indian Wells, Troon North, or Princeville. For the $49 Golfnow Price......it was an average value at best. I guess since it was advertised as a Troon Course, I was expecting a little "more"!

Slow greens surrounded by "Attitude"

For such a "remote" location, this course was very surprising regarding the good playing condition and fairness. The drive out was doable and enjoyable. Very low key environment (i. e. The road signage for the turn off leading to the course was very weathered and somewhat unreadable) with not much play this time of year. My only criticism would be the greens we're very, very slow (I'm guessing 8-9 STMP). The Pro shop staff member (only 1 working) was very dismissive and lacked any personality......bordered on interacting with me with an"attitude"! Once on the course though......enjoyable day! Glad I made the trek out to this little community.........would not recommend to a Handicap of >8

Enjoyable day

Nice track that offers excellent risk/reward opportunities. Some fairways need some work as to grass evenness. Not real long for 10> handicap......requires good accuracy and smart play/course management..
