Dead Greens

The greens were dead; you were basically putting on dirt. The employee who checked me in was unfriendly and discourteous. I emailed the course the following day informing them of my unpleasant experience and, to date, have not received a response. I won't be returning.

Disappearing Golf Balls

This was my first time playing this course. The dormant Bermuda rough was so unbelievably HIGH that balls were sucked down to the bottom and literally disappeared. Gone. If you weren't on the fairway, your ball was lost. I mentioned this after the round to the fellow working in the pro shop. He told me that the rough mower was broken and didn't know when it was going to be repaired. Even at the crazy low price I paid for the round, it wasn't worth the annoyance and frustration that came with losing 6-8 golf balls.

Response from on 12/14/2017:
Good afternoon Shermanesque - Thank you for your feedback. It is comments like these that help us improve going forward. I do not wish to offer any excuses for your experience here at Emerald Lake. I would like to try and offer an explanation. First off, the information you received from my employee was incorrect. Our rough mower is not broken, nor has it ever been. I spoke to him regarding his actions and he has been reprimanded. In actuality, for the last 10 years, we have made our final rough cut the last week of October in anticipation of the cooler weather, which stops the Bermuda Grass from growing. We cut the rough to 1.5" and let it remain that height all winter long. This year was no exception. On October 30th we made our final cut down to 1.5". Since that time, we have seen warmer than usual temperatures, prior to these last 2 weeks. That warmer weather, along with decent rainfall, caused the rough to grow slightly in the last 4 weeks when typically it would not. We have been waiting for the course to dry out from the heavy rains of the last 2 weeks to begin the process again of cutting the rough down. That process started today. Again, I sincerely apologize for your experience. I would love for you to give us another chance once we finish cutting the rough this week. Please email me directly (Justin.morin@emeraldlakegolfclub.com) if you would like to play. I will personally set the tee time up and make sure your experience is much better than last time. Thank you again and I hope to hear from you soon. Justin R. Morin General Manager Emerald Lake Golf Club
