Fieldstone Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2015A course to live off of
There may be nicer courses in the area
There may be more famous courses in the area
There may be more expensive courses in the area
There may be better maintained courses in the area
But anyone who would choose any other course in New Castle County as the their only course to play for the rest of their life hasn't played this one.
Chisel Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/15/2015best value in the area
Simply put, this course offers the greatest value in the area and it's not close. Course can go a bit brown in dry summers, and when the wind is calm she is exposed. But the course is amazing for what it is. She gets a bad rap from people who just do a drive by and see the first two holes as nothing special and lined by houses, trust me, it gets better. From the island green par 3 to the blind downhill par 5 18th this course is amazing after those two warm up holes. Billy Hackett has done an incredible job with this gem that features incredibly crafted complex greens and bunkers. Not long, especially in low wind, but plenty challenging when she wants to be, this gem of a course is worth every penny. And most importantly, being that it resides in a dry township, they encourage you to bring in your own beers!
Delcastle Golf Course
Played On 10/24/2014Billy Casper's Least Value
The course, specifically the greens, have been better this year. (Great weather and no drought helps) But the greens are still slow and don't break but the faintest bit, half of the holes have rings and the course is so left so roughly manicured that the difference between rough and fairway is blurred.
By far the least value of the three "competitively priced" Billy Caspar courses in the area, but the only one that has enough length to make long hitters take a driver out of the bag if they're playing smart. Avoid if possible.
