We've played several courses around here lately, and this course is in better condition than the others...including some of the resort courses. Fairways, rough, tees and greens in good shape.
Only downfall was the 19th hole. Service was horrible from the restaurant. Food was good but had to chase down the server to order drinks, to get menus, to get refills of beverages and to get our bill. No one managing the shop. Probably explains why the only other customer in the place was at the bar.

course is in great shape considering the amount of rain we have had lately. the rough is overdue for mowing. Holes 10 and 11 are extremely noisy due to the new housing development being built. You have to put up with loud music, nail guns, heavy construction beeping, etc. Last time we played here, we had 3 construction workers walking up the cart path with a wheelbarrel as we were teeing off. This time, on hole 11, construction workers were purposely harrassing us with shrilling screams and shouting during every shot we took: tee, fairway and putting. i know the course can't control this, but someone shoud. very annoying and hurt our game on these 2 holes. not the relaxing back 9 it used to be.

course is about a 3.5, not a 4. most tee boxes are in horrible shape as they have no grass, and the rough is also mostly dirt. fairways still fairly decent though drying out and turning brown fast.

What a difference a week makes! Played this course last week and all tees, fairways and greens were 'green' with grass. the tee boxes and fairways are now mostly brown. Still a fun course to play.

although they had a ranger on duty and driving around the course, a particular SLOW group of 4 would not let people play through. we had to jump them on hole 3. when we were on 18, this same foursome had only made it to hole 13! another twosome behind us also had to jump this same group of 4 on hole 7. i am sure we were not the only groups that had to skip holes to get around this foursome. ranger needs to let people know to let faster groups play through!

Tees, fairways and greens are all in great shape right now. Nothing to complain about.

Pace was excellent as we only saw one other person golfing......most likely because their rates are too high for this area, for this course and in this heat. Rates have been high all summer.....i really don't think they want players who will rack up their rental cart count. They're already drying out and shaving the fairways in preparation for overseed. Greens and tees were decent and fairways still had grass, though brown and low.

The greens are doing the same stuff they did last year.....around the perimeter of nearly every green, the greens are dead or just plain dirt. The first 1 - 3 feet of greens at the edges are this way. They clearly don't know what they are doing and should have never fired their golf course maintenance consulting firm last summer. So if you need to putt from just off the green...good luck! Better hone your chipping skills. Also, to the previous reviewer who complained they made him wait until his exact tee time even though the tees were empty during his wait....we had a similar experience a couple of months ago. This course and it's sister course need to hurry up and sell, as the current management team is destroying this course's reputation for professionalism.

This course is our "go to" summer course, but not this summer. Course conditions are very poor. Many greens are damaged with bare spots and you can tell a mower leaked fluid and damaged greens. Fairways have many areas of basically just dirt. Don't know what happened here, but the courses in Green Valley are in MUCH better condition.

Played this course several times over the years but had never gotten to play the Otero 9. What a hidden gem. They should pair this 9 up with Anza more often. Can skip Rancho 9 any day. Greens in great shape: rolled well. Fairways and roughs in decent shape.
