True gem

We rode up from St Augustine to play for my birthday. I played this course a lot in the early 2000s when we would drive down to visit family. I have always loved this layout and wanted to share it with a friend who had never played it.

This is a tremendous layout and gorgeous property. The greens were smooth, but a touch slow. There were some spots of weeds, but not bad. In all, we had a fabulous day and wish it wasn't 2 hours away or I would play it more.

Love this course

my only complaint of this course is that I would love to see the greens a bit quicker. Course is almost always in good shape. Fantastic layout. Not long, but makes you hit every club in your bag.

Greens had some sand on them but felt like they still putted true. Never felt like a ball went offline because of lack of smoothness and I am sensitive to that.

Slow play

Maybe this review is a bit unfair, but I will tell you the good with the bad. This rating may be skewed by the fact that I played with 3 less than competent golfers (1 hadn't played in 8 years, another whiffed 2 shots and topped 2 shots less than 10 feet).

I went out on a Thursday around 10:15am, hoping to finish in under 4 hours, and even with guys who weren't playing quickly or well, we still waited on most tee boxes. We finished in 2:20 or so, which isnt awful, but isnt great either. I think this course just has too much play.

The course was in good shape. There were a few cart path only holes that weren't as good, but that was to be expected given the amount of rain we have had. The greens were very quick and true, as always. The layout is good and many teebox options, so you can get a fair test. At 7200 yards and a 74 plus course rating from the gold, it can be a test.

I hadn't played here in a while, and wont be back for a while, unless I can find a less crowded day.

Great course/value

This is a great layout. It requires pretty much all the clubs in the bag. Greens are a bit on the slow side, but that is my only compliant on the course. Restaurant food is great.

The driving range lies are a bit fluffy and not representative of what you would see on the course. Chipping and putting greens are fine.

I love playing here because it makes me think. It is fair, but playable.
