Excellent greens and superior Drainage systems!

After all the torrential rainfall we experienced lately, plus the additional heavy rainfall the night before my round, I did not expect much. However, the course was in fantastic shape. Most of the holes played well. There were only two or there wet areas that negatively efffected my ball. Furthermore the greens were in excellent shape -- no water problems at all. All public courses should strive to be like Southwind The cost was ok. I usually play Durham lakes. I could play there for around $25 most of the time. However, Durham Lakes is closed until spring. So I will be playing here all through out winter. Even if it rains, I know they have superior Drainage systems. Come play this course. Yep, it gets crowded sometimes. And some folks that go here either don't know anything about Golf etiquette or they simply don`t care. Also, the pace of play get slow. I had to simply drive past a foursome because they never would wave me on. I don't think the concept of what waving someone through even occurred them. Once i got ahead of them, I was free to advance. Go and Play Southwind!

Good Course

I played The Links over a year ago. That was my second time playing the course. the links was the first 18 hole course I ever played -- that was a couple of years ago. It has a very laid back feel. The staff (a nice Lady) was very "down to earth". I went during the week so there were no crowds. Since I had not been playing long, my pace of play was very slow. I was not hurried or pushed in any way. If this course was closer to my house I would play it all the time. This is a good Georgia, country course. Nothing special but a fine challenging course none the less. Very scenic and enjoyable. I'd like to revisit it a soon as possible. The cost of a round is very reasonable. It was less than 30 bucks. If I remember correctly, the greens were in pretty good shape too. It definitely worth playing.

Good local Course -- On the rise...

My buddy and I played Southwind for the first time last Saturday (4/26/14). Our tee time was 10:40am. We had to wait in line behind 2 groups of 4 players before we could start -- not a big delay at first. Unfortunately, they held us up for the rest of the day. We finally finished our round at 4pm -- that's over 5 hours folks -- way to slow! The group behind us were our spectators for most of the day. I personally could have done without an audience. The place was crowded but it was a beautiful, warm, spring day and it was a Saturday so I kind of expected it to be a little crowded. I would like to go back on a week day when it's less crowded. The Course was okay. The tee boxes were okay; however, some had uneven areas -- but I was able to find a good flat spot on most tees.. The bunkers were excellent and had really good sand -- better than any others I've played in South Fulton County. The greens were good and some were very challenging. Watch out for the green on hole #1, it has steep angle, starting at the hole and going down hill and to the left -- it got me good (I had a 4 putt to start the game). The fairways need more grass. We had to hit off tight lies many times. However, with all that said, this course was in really good condition. The fairways and golf cart paths are surrounded by towering, majestic hardwood trees and assorted green hued vegetation -- a very beautiful course. Also, I met the owner(s) and they were super nice guys. They are really doing everything they can to get this course into top shape. I will definitely be back to play this course again. You should come out and give it a try yourself -- you wont be disappointed.

Good local course

For a beginner like myself, this can be a challenging course. However, that does not mean you should not play here. My friend and I had a wonderful time. The fairways were pretty well maintained. The sand traps were okay -- some were hard surfaced and needed more sand and some were just fine. The greens were real fast. Some area's of the greens had a few bad spots but for the most part they were okay. We played on the weekend and the price we payed by using GolfNow for booking 18 holes in advance was very reasonable. I did loose a lot of balls but I also found a lot of balls so it kind of evened out ("ballwise"). If you keep it in the fairway, this is very good course. Seeing that it's only 5 miles from my house, I'll definitely be back.
