the old girl is not what she use to be...

played as a single on 10/8/2018 in the afternoon...have not been there for at least 6 months,I knew that the friars course had been let go to keep mission/presido in good shape..or at least I thought that was the idea.Alot of the times the putting green is not a good repersentantion of the actual greens but this time it was..very slow/furry(needed a cut) and full of bare spots/different grasses growing in.The fairways had alot of bare and thin areas and to be fair Presido was in better shape than mission..for the money I paid 35.00 could have gone to cottonwood for better conditions of the course though the clubhouse and carts and driving range are far superior but if good golf conditions are what you are looking for ...I would look elsewhere at this time...it is a shame because there was a time when riverwalk was high on a players list.

challenging course with very good conditions

played as a single, joined by a twosome at 715 am on friday morning (pop was 4 hours)...very little wind and plenty of sprinklers...overall fairways very good coverage...waste bunkers are being taken care of(weeds pulled/dirt tractor raked)tee boxes good..green bunkers could use more sand but playable..the greens were very good and the putts were rolling very smooth(players just keep fixing yours and others ball marks while you are waiting to putt)the resturant and outdoor patio make for a great spot after your round to tally up those scorecards...this is a course that is tough in the morning and very very tough later in the day when the wind picks up.I would also point out there are about 2 cold water stations on each nine and a full bathroom on each nine..saw the cart girl twice.6 sets of tee boxes...GO PLAY!!

the bunkers are overflowing ...with sand

played as a single on a very busy friday morning at 737 tee time...pro shop started our foursome on the back 9 to ease up a crowed morning backup...staff very helpful/quick check-in and go...tee boxs good with plenty of room to find a flat area..fairways still pretty good coverage even with the high heat we have experienced in the last 2 weeks...greens were surprisly quick even though they felt spongy...new management is acting on their first priority, to re fill the greenside bunkers with sand but maybe too much ..when I entered the 2 bunkers I was in it was like walking in a foot of snow, just starting to get good at hitting out of hard dirt(haha)...overall the course was in good shape and would recomend getting out NOW..by the end of augest with the combition of salt water and the type of grass the fairways will be thin...so go play 1

hit the jackpot in vegas!!

the course winds through a gated community but the houses are never really in your playing field..fairways are like lush carpet , you can't find a bad lie. the rough is about 2 to 3 inches deep but the landing zones off the tee are wide/ bunkers are numerous but have plenty of sand..greens for the most part are quite big but you must be on the correct side or it can be very fast and downhill.the holes are quite interesting but what makes this course are the par 3's/all from 160 to 200 and the pin placement were all behind a bunker, they were some of the hardest and best par 3 I might have ever played.the course is about 20 mins from the strip...the only negitive is the world class driving range with free range balls and a huge chipping and putting green that is wonderful but closed on wed from 12 to 2pm..which is the time and day that we visited. highly recomend!!played the blues

greens in need of repair

play here at least once a month, was here 3 weeks ago and they had 2 greens in bad shape(14,4)but since the heat wave and high salt content in the water table, over half of the greens are unputtable .as bad as I have ever seen in my 6 years of playing ,will wait at least til October to visit again,in their defense they had a 3 man crew working on the greens(airerating and punching and light sand) but it is a huge uphill battle!

resort golf at its best

overall conditions were better then most courses, large and soft greens ,lush fairways and not to many fairway bunkers...a little bit of a drive but well worth the time and money.now for the negitives, greens were puched about 3 weeks ago and you really could not tell except they needed to be cut and were super spongy(slow and bumpy)only one or two greens had the same speed as the practice green.you really feel one with nature on this course, will be back!!

beautiful views/good conditions...worth the drive!!

played this course on monday nov 12th(holiday),10:22 tee time, started around 10:40.seemed like the first hole was our longest wait to play, after that things moved pretty well/fairways are in good condition(going a little brown)but plenty of grass, greens were in good condition and rolled well except for the 10th(spots of dying grass and browning) bunkers have the best sand in the county!!the lake on hole #5 was completely dry and the creek that runs through the ninth and eighteenth was dry...figure that when we get some rain those features will be back.the front nine is a good challange but the back nine is a must play and must see.the 11 th green is one of the hardest in the county and the tee shot on the 15th is one of the largest elevation drops to the fairway.five hour round but well worth the drive out...no gps but course is marked with 200 and 150 poles in fairways and yardage on sprinkler heads.large putting green and matted driving range...only a few homes on the course, only a few back to back fairways(front nine)this one course where you can get away and just be with nature.

greens in very good shape

escondidio is a great deal for the money...not the longest course (6100 from the tips) but it is in good shape. the greens were punched over 2 weeks ago and have healed nicely, fairways are in good shape(#8 was begining to brown out but still plenty of grass)a couple tee boxs show the affects of being in the same place to long...overall the course is well worth the 25 minute drive san diego.this was a privite course so it has alot of older members(husbands ansd wifes) so some time play can get a little slower especally on weekend afternoons,no cart girl during the week.

player friendly course

chula vista is a very forgiving golf course as long as the wind is not blowing, if the wind is up then so will your scores. The par 5 's are good scoring holes and on the par 3's you should be happy with a score of par.the course is pretty flat and not to many fairway bunkers and fairly nice sized greens, a great course for the average golfer to feel good about his game.not to many homes on this course but plenty of walking trails and parks and roads surrund the golf course/fairways go side by side so keep an open eye and ear.great course for the price!! replay with cart was 10.00 dollars!!!!

very few homes, great views, elevation changes, a hidden gem!

love the course.great elavation changes from tee box to greens(9,11,14)always in top form, not really any blind shots.greens are fine, most are large and firm, they roll a little slow in the early morn(dew) but by 9am they are good.as with all course in so.cal the sand could be better in the bunkers but then you never want to be there anyway. Its only 10 minutes from the freeway(I-15) but it feels like you are the only ones out there.staff is always friendly and helpful, marshalls are nice guys.course is marked 200,150,100 on the course and the cart path and the sprinkler heads also give the distance.if you make it out there once, you'll want to go back.
