Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
Played On 09/18/2022Worst Golf Course in Vegas
This golf course needs to close. The greens were unplayable, sand traps were dust pits, and the rough so unkept in spots that you couldn’t find your ball. Not worth the drive or the money to play there.
Shoreline Golf Links at Mountain View
Played On 05/24/2022Course has seen better days
Gophers have taken over the golf course and have made parts unplayable. Rocks and dirt patches in the fairway. Greens were okay, but not much else going for this course
Airways Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2017One of the worst maintained courses in the Valley
Okay, so I only paid $15, but I've played nicer courses for a similar rate. Here's the rundown of this course
Fairways: Many consisted of a 10-15 yard wide strip of what could loosely be referred to as grass.
Rough: There is none, unless you consider dirt rough.
Tees: Flat and watered.
Greens and Bunkers: Probably the only bright spot. Greens and bunkers were well maintained when put in perspective with everything else. Greens are faster than a lot of primo courses I've played.
Staff: Staff was very friendly.
Place of Play: At least two foursomes stacked up on every hole. In credibly slow.
Overall: I guess if you're a beginning looking for a cheap place to play this course is for you, but I will not be returning.
Tulare Golf Course
Played On 12/26/2017Course has Improved Over the years
It has been several years since I have played this course and I have to say that the conditions have greatly improved. Given that I played it in the Winter the fairways and rough is all dead, but nevertheless it still feels maintained. Greens and bunkers in good shape. Looking forward to the scheduled clubhouse remodel next year.
Hunter Ranch Golf Course
Played On 12/23/2017Premiere Central Coast Golf Course?
I have heard so many good things about this course; how it is well maintained, challenging and one of the best courses in SLO county. I beg to differ. I found a good rate on GN at $50, but the rack rate is near $100. After playing this course I would have a hard time justifying $50 let alone $100. One the positive side the greens and bunkers were in good shape and the staff was friendly. On the negative side the fairways and rough were all dead. Many holes lacked significant rough entirely, yet I found multiple spots on the course where water puddled and I had to drop my ball. I enjoyed playing Hunter Ranch, but I would not classify it as a premiere course as they do.
Mather Golf Course
Played On 03/07/2015Slowest play in Sacramento
This course tries to pack as many people in it as possible. I teed off more than a hour after my scheduled tee time and was not able to finish before dark. This course does have its challenges, especially when it comes to avoiding being hit by some hacks golf ball.
Bass Lake Golf Course
Played On 01/31/2015You Get What You Pay For
This was my first time playing this course and it will definitely be my last. This course is not well maintained and the pace of play was excruciatingly slow. The layout is not designed to be a fair challenge to the golfer, but to be annoyingly difficult i.e. trees overhanging tee boxes, small greens with no grass to stop the ball from rolling 50 feet down the hill. I only payed $10 for this tee time so I am not overly disappointed. The only positive was the great view of Sacramento and the costal mountains from the 10th tee.
Eighteen at Bing Maloney Golf Course
Played On 01/30/2015Great Municipal Course
Bing Maloney is one of the oldest golf courses in the Sacramento Valley and is designed with raised greens, lots of sand, and narrow fairways. All aspects of the course are well maintained including the greens and bunkers. Pace of play is pretty good for how many people play there on a weekend and if you are a single the other golfers are usually very friendly. There is also an excellent 9 hole course that is great for working on the short game.
The Links at Everline
Played On 07/15/2014Bring Your A Game
This course is set at the base of Squaw Valley Ski Resort and offers sweeping vistas of the cable car tram and surrounding mountains. The layout is extremely challenging because the majority of the holes are surrounded by a marsh. There are not very many trees in play which makes the wind a big factor if you are playing in the afternoon. I would only play this course if your handicap is 12 and under otherwise you will lose lots of balls and have a bad time.
Links at RiverLakes Ranch
Played On 02/17/2014Not what I expected
The layout of this course is very good and will challenge you on every hole. The course was not well maintained at all. The greens were in good shape except almost every hole had a portion to the green that was unplayable. Bunkers had some sand, but the faces had eroded leaving for shots over two and three foot high lips. The green on the last hole was completely unplayable because it was covered in bird droppings. If you can get a good deal on the course (under $25) then I would play it.
Ridge Creek Dinuba Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2013Great Championship course, but over priced.
This is an extremely challenging course. from the tips it is 7482 yards. Everything is well maintained but not as green as it could be and there are weeds starting to pop up al over the place. Just needs a little TLC to get it back to pristine condition. The layout is excellent. I would go on Monday, if you wear pink then the green fee is only $35 incl. cart. Regular is $54 weekday $75 weekend. Not worth that much money.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 05/26/2013Great course for the price!
This course is situated right on the Pacific Ocean and could be considered the poor man's Pebble Beach. Front nine goes through the houses while the back nine is on the ocean and constructed more in the links style. Very challenging in the afternoon when the wind picks up. Bunkers could use a little more sand but overall a great place to play. You will have fun!
Sherwood Forest Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2013Great course
This course is set along the Kings River and winds through many trees. This course is very scenic and fun to play. Not extremely challenging, but there are some tricky holes.
Three Rivers Golf Course
Played On 07/17/2010Nice setting along the Kern River surrounded by hills.
Three Rivers Golf Course is a good course for the price you pay, but needs some work around the greens and in the bunkers. The course stays relatively green throughout the year as is in okay condition. I'm pretty sure this course has been closed for awhile it looks like for maintenance, but no one answers the phone when I call
Hanks Woodlake Ranch Golf
Played On 06/10/2010Waste of time and money.
Do not play here. Course is in horrendous shape. The bunkers are basically dirt patches where grass won't grow and the greens are the same length (if not longer) than the fairway. Oddly designed course with trees in the middle of greens on some holes.
Visalia Country Club
Played On 04/05/2008Great course if you have the opportunity to play it.
To play the Visalia CC you have to know a member and be invited to play. I think the green fee is around $50. Course is always well maintained, bunkers and greens are always in good condition. The course is not that long, but very challenging due to the trees and water hazards. If you are not a member do not expect the course staff to treat you with respect.
The fairways were seeded with bermuda grass, which requires less water, a few years ago and go dormant in the Winter. You might consider playing the course in the Spring or Summer if dormant fairways don't suit you.
