Lexington Oaks Golf Club
Played On 02/27/2024Very nice for the money.
Played the course while visiting from IN. The greens were in good shape, fairways were a little rough (a lot of bare spots, but I suspect that’s common around here this time of year). We started early (before 9 am) and the pace of play was outstanding. We were a twosome, playing behind a threesome, and finished in less than 3.5 hours. The amenities are pretty basic, but adequate if you just want to play golf.
Gulf Shores Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2022Nice course
The course was wet from heavy rains the previous 3 days and it was pretty early in the season, so it would be unfair to judge the course. The greens were really fast. There were a lot of areas in the rough and fairways that were bare, or had very little grass - not likely to improve during the season. I appreciated that range balls are included in your greens fee. FYI, you can only hit from mats on the range and long hitters probably can’t hit the driver. I would play it again. Greens fees are probably fair for a vacation town. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Surprised that they permitted a five-some in front of us, but the ranger did make them let us (twosome) play through when they slowed down.
Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run
Played On 05/10/2019Nice layout, course needs work
Overall it’s a nice course and we enjoyed our round. My Nav system in my car took us to the wrong place, so double check your route. We had a quick lunch because we had an early afternoon tee time. $13 for a burger and fries seems a bit high, but it’s Hilton Head. The starter was nice and very helpful. The course is straightforward, layout is easy to follow. Greens and fairways were in good condition, however the tee boxes and rough were not; a lot of bare dirt/sand. Greens were a bit slow, as you might expect on a resort course. We played 18 holes in about 4:15, about what the starter told us. For Hilton Head it’s probably s good value, just keep it in the fairway.
Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/07/2019Some things to know
We enjoyed our round, the course was beautiful and fun to play. There are some challenging holes, but the course was fair for us (20 handicappers). Some things to know: 1- the clubhouse is being renovated, so there is no food or drinks other than some snacks and drinks in a small refrigerator, 2- limited access to rest rooms in the clubhouse, 3- staff seems to be all retirees who play there. Friendly enough, but more volunteers than staff, 4- no pro shop, you check in in the cart garage in what looks like a storage closet, although I’m sure that’s just until the clubhouse is done. Some Tee boxes and fairways are a little rough, but playable.. No practice range. So a nice course, but not a resort experience, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Plum Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2016One of my favorites
I've played this course every year but one since it opened. I used to play it regularly when I lived in Carmel. The pace of play was fast, probably because of the rainy weather, but the course played well despite the wet conditions. It's a gorgeous course (especially when the sun's shining). The amenities are great, but the course has gotten pretty pricey.
Hey "magregory" thank you so much for the 5* review! We are glad to hear you were happy with the course despite wet conditions. Come see us again soon!
The Fort Golf Resort
Played On 9/7/2013Excellent condition, tough.
This was our 3rd time to play The Fort, probably in the best condition we've seen. The greens were very fast, and the course is tough if you don't hit it straight, like me. When out on the course it doesn't seem like Indianapolis.
Thank you for your review! We're pleased that you enjoyed our course and that our staff left a great impression on you. We appreciate your feedback and we hope to have you back again soon!
