Desert Island Country Club
Played On 03/20/2023Nice Little Track
Desert Island is a nice little track. Very well maintained, great staff, and great pace of play. No GPS on the carts, but not a big deal.
The course itself is somewhat tight. It has some very nice water features, including the signature island fairway on Hole 9. Greens rolled true but not too fast, bunker sand was good. With enough challenges to make it interesting, but not oppressively difficult, you'll enjoy your round at Desert Island. Add it to your list of fun tracks in the Coachella Valley.
Palm Desert Resort Country Club
Played On 03/15/2023Meh
Fairly pedestrian course within a gated block community. Fairways and greens were in decent enough shape, Rough was dormant and mostly brown. Waste areas near homes are sand/desert. But they're not well groomed, giving the course an overall shabby aesthetic. For similar money, I'd recommend Woodhaven CC—which is right next door.
PGA WEST Greg Norman Course
Played On 03/12/2023A Fun and Playable Course!
Paid $114 on a GolfNow HotDeal to play Sunday, 3/13 @ 1:48pm—1st day of daylight savings time.
Another awesome day at PGA West. This place really is a golf mecca, and it’s always a pleasure to tee it up at one of these beautifully designed and exquisitely maintained courses.
This was my first round on the Norman Course. Teed off at 1:48pm, paired with a twosome. Pace was great. Plenty of daylight to finish (in just over 4 hours).
Many say this is one of the most playable of the public courses at PGA West, and that may be true. The desert surround leaves room to recover from errant tee shots and approaches. Several times I was able to chip and pitch out of the desert and find the green with a chance to save par.
But there are a lot of bunkers, so expect to find a handful, as I did.
And there are a few challenging Par 3’s. Hole 13 is a tricky one!
With a multitude of tee boxes to play from, golfers of varying skill levels can find a yardage here to suit their game. Do yourself a favor and play this course if you get the chance. You wont regret it!
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 03/11/2023Little Rough Around The Edges
I suppose you "get what you pay for," but this facility is not up to par with the quality of courses in the Coachella Valley. My day started with the saddest bucket of range balls I've ever seen, Total trash. Driving range is off grass with desert targets. It's bare bones, but sufficient.
Played with a lovely Canadian couple—Don and Pat. The course itself is in fair shape. There are some rough patches on the fairways as well as the greens, making it feel like a low-end muni course. Overall, it feels like this place is suffering from some management neglect. Don't see the pride of ownership like other areas courses.
As is often the case here, the wind was blowing hard all day, with gust up to 25-30 mph. 2-4 club wind depending on the direction. Very tough to score.
The pace was fine, despite an apparent 8-some in front of us, who we passed at the turn. Beverage cart was out and available.
If you're on a tight budget, Desert Dunes might be an option. But for a few more dollars, I'd recommend places like Tahquitz Creek or Cimarron.
Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course
Played On 03/08/2023Great Value in the Valley
$87 is now a value in Coachella Valley! Got paired with a threesome and we teed off at 1:20 pm. Wind was blowing a bit, so a little more challenging. But everyrhing is right in front of you on this course. Only challenge is the wash that runs down the middle and comes in play on many holes. But the course was in great shape, and pace of play was good, Finished 18 in 4 1/2 hours. Great day on the course with playing partners
Rustic Canyon Golf Course
Played On 01/07/2020I've played Rustic about a dozen times over the past few years, and it never disappoints. It's one of the best public tracks in LA County. A Gill Hanse gem, it's links style greens can be tricky for 1st timers. Conditions are always above average and pace of play is usually pretty good. I've always played from the blue tees, but today I joined 3 seniors on the white tees. It made the course much more playable and the round more enjoyable. I highly recommend this course.
We're glad you enjoyed your 5-star experience with us, PeteSingle. Please comment or reach out to our team in the golf shop to let us know more about your round!
Angeles National Golf Club
Played On 12/20/2018A bit underwhelming...
Finally played here on 12/20/18 after hearing mixed reviews from other golfers.
Checked in the pro shop, and the guy at the counter chastised a player checking in behind me that he couldn't bring in his Starbucks coffee because there are "no outside beverages allowed." --That seemed a little over the top. I might have walked right out if he said that to me.
Practice range is grass which is nice and there's a good chipping area, but no practice bunker that we could find.
Teed off on 10 ...
I know it's "winter" in SoCal, but the fairways were brown and dry... not my favorite surface to play on. Every approach felt like a tight lie.
Greens were quite fast but rolled very true, and had some challenging undulations.
Hit 6 bunkers on my round and found loose stones in all of them.
It also seems like the place that attracts players who don't feel obligated to rake bunkers or repair their divots. Must have repaired 4-6 fresh divots on every green. C'mon people, golf etiquette!
The surrounding scenery is quite nice as you play back into the canyon. It has that high desert feel. There are several "blind" tee shots, so it can be challenging to know where to hit as a first-timer.
Played as a duece between two foursomes in 5 hours.
Overall, I was a little underwhelmed by the round. For the price, there are better options in the area, IMHO. But I see how some golfers could find this a fun and challenging track.
Los Robles Greens Golf Course
Played On 01/27/2018Slowest Round Ever! (6+ Hours)
Normally one of my favorite go-to courses, they had 3 tournaments stacked back to back to back. Our tee time was 11:36am but didn't get off until 12:15pm. We we're 90+ minutes after 5 holes, with a 4 group back-up at hole 6. My buddy and the group in front quit after 9. There was no enforcement of pace of play. Felt like the course got greedy and overbooked tournaments. Total turnoff. Sadly, Los Robles is off my list for now.
Number One at Brookside Golf Club
Played On 12/27/2017Course is in bad shape!
This course is in rough shape. Not worth the money. The LA Muni's at Griffith Park or Encino are in better shape than this course. Brookside is now officially off my list.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
Played On 03/09/2016Great Desert Course
Love this course. Started on the back 9 and the course was in fantastic shape. When we turned to play the front, we discovered why we started on 10 ... they were punching the greens. So the front greens were a little sandy and bumpy (but will be back to excellent in a few weeks).
Some fun elevation change holes on the front. Lot's of fairway and green-side bunkers that make strategic tee shots and approaches a must.
Great staff, friendly starters and marshals on the course monitoring pace of place. Teed off at 6:52am and finished in just under 4 hrs. Treat yourself to this desert gem.
Thank you for making our day with this wonderful 5 Star Review. We try our best to ensure that every golfer has an enjoyable time at our course. We hope to see you again in the future!

Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 03/04/2016Top-Notch Resort Golf Experience
From the pro shop, to the starters, to the on-course staff, you will feel very taken care of at either the Palms or Valley Course at Desert Springs. Took my retiree parents here and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
The courses are in impeccable shape. Not a patch of brown to be found anywhere. Carpe-like fairways, true rolling greens, and some very scenic holes.
Rough isn't too punishing so the courses are playable for even high handicappers who suffer from accuracy issues off the tee or on approach.
Great place to go for a top-notch resort-style golf experience at pretty reasonable price.

Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 03/25/2015Immaculate & Playable
Great course. Condition of the fairways and greens was impeccable. Friendly staff and a great pace of play. Views are spectacular. Not a terribly difficult course. Very scoreable. Players of all handicaps should enjoy this track.
Los Robles Greens Golf Course
Played On 03/23/2014Well Maintained Track
Great course for the money, especially with GolfNow hot deals. Overall has an almost semi-private feel. Grounds are well groomed. Lot's of mature tress. Fairways and greens are in great shape. GPS carts. As a par 70 its not super long or challenging even for a bogey golfer like myself. Pace of play is pretty good. Played on a Sunday after a morning scramble tourney and still came in around 4 hrs.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing us.
