It was a good day to play

The weather was nice in the afternoon. a lot of sand on the greens so putting was fast. Fairways were in nice shape even after the heavy rains. My lies were tight but using my hybrids instead of irons and woods allowed me very good hits all through out the course.
My bag is full of Warrior Customer Golf clubs fitted for me so I do well on this course. With the proper course management.

What a muckup on the greens

Played four weekends ago and they had just cut new pin wholes. Must of used a chain saw, never saw or played such terribel wholes. Looked like someone blew them up rather than cut them out. Played the next weekend the the green wholes were great!!!! they had replaced the land minds from the previous week.
Thank you very much made my game less challanging in an area it is challenging enough.

Wonderful Time

The course played well after reseeding. The greens were in very good condition as were the fairways. I would be hitting well but then hit fat. The fairways were still moist and instead of bouncing my hybrid across the ground I would dig in just after hitting the ball getting half a shot. My fault for not thinking about this until after the game, Had a very good time.l

Beautiful Course to play

We have played the cours seven or eight times now and always enjoyed the experience. The course is challanging if you don't pay attention to the fairways lay outs. Enjoy the long par 4s.

Beautiful course to pay year round and has some very interesting holes to play.

We jumped the gun!!

Book our tee spoit early in the week hoping for a little cool weather around 105. Well that didn"t happen it was
111 degrees when we fihished the 8th hole and called it quits. We love the game and get overly excited about playing.
We did well plenty of pars and enjoyed outselves.

The course was in good shap. Fairways a little long in the grass so my bump and runs fell short sometimes. The grees were a bit slow so it took a couple to adjust to them but the course itself was beautiful!!

Lovely Par 3 to Play

The course was in very good condition. Greens were very nice to putt on and the fairways were covered with nice carpets of grass giving you a nice lie to hit from. Much different than later in the season when the grass starts to die from the heat. But this course usually has nice grassy fairways year round.
The course itself is fun to play because it is not flat and boring like so many courses here in Vegas. It has nice small hills not too high to work with, making the drive interesting. Each hole is different and requires selective clubs if you are a shot maker.

The course was ready for me.

I enjoy this course very much and so I often challenge myself by playing around with my woods only, including a 7 and 9 wood. Then I play my hybrids with a 2 wood to tee off with and only using either the 7 and 9 wood or 7,8 and 9 irons. Then I play my irons only, all my clubs are from Warrior Custom Golf suited for me and this has allowed me to play much better. With my iron set I have a 1 Diving Iron that is use off the tee and off the fairway. Yes that is right a One Iron. It gives me so much roll that I get a good average of 148 total distance off the tee and 130 to 140 on the fairway. At age 73, I do not have a lot of speed in my swing so I have to play with accuracy and position to get my pars and a few birdies per round. I know how to play long irons and my 2 wood and 2 hybrid very well so I have a lot of fun on this course as it is challenging but playable with the correct mind set. The conditions of the course will dictate how well I play my irons because often the playing season is dry and the lies are very tight. But I sweep the ball in such a case and get good results with my irons.
I have included another photo of my Hole in One moment I shot Jan 4th of this year. If I can get lucky and do it so can you on this great course.

A good course to learn course management!

This course has some very interesting holes to play on. If you pay attention the lay of the fairways and different approaches available to use to arrive at the green or on the green you game skills will improve. Some courses I play are simply a hoogepause of fairways with not so designs to allow you to.work the ball to the green and a good lay up position. WILDHORSE is a course course management because you have difficult holes that require understanding course management if you are going to birdie or par the hole.

Long ball hitters may think that the only way to play the course like so.many is hit the bomb. I have play with them and scored better for one reason. I have a very good short game from 130 yards out and usually par the hole if not birdie it with a very good approach shot and one putt.
Long ball hitters think that is all they need but what I see from thses players is ball out of bounds and wasting strokes getting into the cup. WILD HORSE is a great course to study and learn from.
Another area I like to practice on is the Las Vegas course on Las Vegas Blvd and Sunset. The putting green is an excellent green to practice lagging balls close to the cup. The green is not level at all. It is very hilly makinge it difficult to hit straight to the cup. You have to work the ball to the cup. I like the green because I developed a good feel for my clubs in placing the ball.close.to the.cup. In every round of 24 balls I will sink 1 or 2 but my purpose is to lag tje balls around the cup for an easy putt in.
The green is is far from being in good shape now but learning to lag balls close to.all the cups has really cut 3 to 5 strokes or more off my game. LAS VEGAS DUFFER. I HAD A HOLE IN ONE JAN4TH 2020 AT WILD HORSE HOLE 4. May you all be so lucky this year!!

My First Hole in One was made today on a very difficult Par Three.

What in the world could go wrong today?? On the 4th holes a Par 3 with a lot of water protecting the green and a slanted green that often rolls your ball off it. I struck a Hole in One with my new Warrior Custom Golf 7 Iron. What a way to break in my new set of irons? I need not say more about this day or the course. All was perfect.

Okay I have to admit I am not the pro I think I am after that Hole in One. I ate some good crow two weeks later when I shot a seven on the same hole. In the trap and out nicely but the ball kept scooting past the hole each time I putted. This course fools me quite often and I like it because I have such different experiences playing the course. It is not one of those courses that you seem to master after ten rounds and things get boring. Not here, I can tell you. The degree of challenge is always changing. Always fun for me and my wife who had had two very close Hole in Ones on two other Par threes. I think she is going to catch up to me and keep going! Gad I better polish my 7 Iron and treat it well!!

A perfect day to play this course as the game went very well.

The key to playing well on this course for myself and wife is course management. You need to understand the fairways and how they can run your ball up to the green or away from the green.
We did very well today as the course was not too windy and the greens were holding balls better than the previous four weeks. A lot of good pars with a few birdies mixed in.
We often are paired up with one or two players to make a foursome. We have always had fun with these individuals . Seems the course brings a lot of like minded people like ourselves out to play.
Good Fun today.

Speedy greens like glass did me in!

I play this course very often but there are times in the season where the greens are like glass. They will just not hold a ball and as many are build on slight slopes it is difficult to putt well. But that being the case I still did well with my approach and bump and run play enjoying myself.
The time keeper Al is great to work with. He will make sure you get off on schedule. The cart fellows to a great job in greeting up at the unloading area and then when we come in, cleaing our clubs and escorting us out to our vehicle. I have come to know these fellows well and take care of them as they always take care of me if I let them do their jobs

Great Day for Golf on a course that challenges me every time.

I have played this course many times and enjoy each round. Each hole is a challenge in itself as no two are alike. Being a former tournament course you experience the same challenges the Pro’s played against back in the day.
The GPS that comes with the cart can really help in your play on this course. Course management is essential for a good round so study your fairways before teeing off. And how to make a good approach shot based on how the fairway leads you to the green. Doing this on Wild Horse will really improve your game and you will come to like the course very much.

A really good day for golf with a course that was ready for me to perform well on.

The key to playing well on this course for myself and wife is course management. You need to understand the fairways and how they can run your ball up to the green or away from the green.
The carts have GPS on them and this is terrific in understanding your distance from the front, center and back of the hole.
Once problem we constantly have is having players who think they can hit 240 to 260 once in awhile and so they play off the Green tees in the back. Where they actually they only hit 140 to 190 yards off the tees. I wished players would look up tee positions and see what tee they should be hitting off to match their drive lengths. This would speed the game up for them and make it more fun. If not interested in doing this, have the courtesy to carry a lot of balls with your and just drop one where your ball disappeared and get on with the game.
Today we had a lot of fathers and sons and some daughters playing so this slowed the game a little but it is enjoyable watching them play and try to improve. I was there once myself when Palmer was just getting going as a Pro. My hats off to the parents who need a lot of patients with their kids. So let’s have a little patients when we are behind them.

Wind in the face, wind on the ball, interesting shot results!

If you want a good round of Golf that is challenging this is the course for many players.
Not an easy course to play unless you have knowledge of the fairways and know how to manage your ball well. A lot of hills and dales to contend with and some fairways that look level but actually will run your ball off into trouble. Greens were good to play on. They would hold a good approach shot most of the time.
No GPS on the carts so a hand tool is recommended to get the proper distance to the flag.
An interesting course to improve your game with.

Goffer Hill Challenge

The course can be extremely challenging to golfers who hit over 76 per round. That is because the course is in good condition but the approaches are hindered by difficult approaches and in times the grass slows the ball down so there is not the expected roll from it. An enjoyable course to play by some course management and it may take a few rounds to learn enough to get a good score that you expect.
The course is hilly and hinders long low drives and low fairway strikes. So you need to learn to adjust your hits to the terrain.

I just finished a wonderful round of golf at WildHorse. I have been hitting mid 80’s but have now new fitted clubs and a few tips in my pocket to improve my game. I have played the course over 70 times now and really enjoy playing there all year round. You can see that I rated everything “excellent” on this time. The only thing I often give a 3 or a 4 to is the condition of the course and mother nature has more to do with that then the ground grew. This weekend, I had two birdies in a row and on 12 (320 yards par 4 for me) an EAGLE. I had a second shot of 122 yards according to the cart GPS which I use to great advantage when playing here. I ball hit on the left bunker rolled un and upward on the green then over to the cup and IN! Shot a 70 which is par. The greens were really in good condition so I suggest you get out and play as the course is in lovely condition. Las Vegas Duffer.

The Course that challanges me and I like it!

Here is a course I really enjoy. I play it 40 to 45 times a year and that means in the hot 108 or more summer days and in the cold winter days. The course can offer some challenging holes to play on, especially NO: 9. But with good course management you can shoot a great game. I have moved from the high 80’s to the high 70’s on this course and it is due to learning how to play given the seasonal changes. The condition of the course is good or very good given the weather. The greens are in good condition now and are faire conditions in the later winter early spring. For me playing golf is accepting the challenge the course gives you at the moment in the season and weather. If I want to play on perfect conditions I go to a indoor golf range. In the 1880’s the Scottish and English played in fog, rain, hail, snow and freezing weather. I believe they still do pay in all weather conditions today. So I have nothing to complain about given the fine weather we have here in Vegas year round. A bad course is one where you can hardly reach the green without having to shoot over a gully 125 yards wide or more. Otherwise give me what you got and let me figure out how to play the hole. I enjoy what Mother Nature does to a course in different seasons and Wild Horse is fun because it changes as the weather does but it is always a lot of fun to play for me.
The GPS system on each cart is what I really like about the course because it has helped me select the club I need to play well. You don’t get this nice amenity on other course that charge more. The driving range is set up well with distant markets and usually you play off grass. The putting green is large and wide with a good shady areas to putt in. The chipping area is a bit difficult to work with as it challenges your skills in the sand bunker or the large deep bunker on the east side of the green. The other three side approaches have typical green conditions that will help you sharpen your chipping.
Another enjoyable thing about Wild Horse is the staff. The cart fellows do a great job of coming out to the bag loading area and fetching your bags, getting you off on time and cleaning your clubs well when you come back in. And then they escort you to your car and load the bags. Please remember these fellows work for tips. They do a fine job of taking care of me every time I am there. They inspect the carts to be sure they are always clean. The pro-shop staff and restaurant staff are always friendly and quick to serve you and assist you when you need attention. Go out and play the course, learn how to manage each hole and your score will fall nicely. Hit the ball well my friend, Las Vegas Duffer.

Want a fun course to play than there it is!

The day was a little windy but because of the many trees lining the fairways the wind only effected play three times.

A challange to my fellow golfers!

The course has some challenging holes but once you learn how to play them you will score well. The unfortunate things about the course is the amount of men who think they should play off the black tees then spend time looking for their balls 170 yards away. Golfers should learn what tee box they should use to make the game much more fun for them and faster for those following. Tip, Average drive less than 210 yards use the front tees. Between 210 and 250 yards use the middle tee box. Only a suggested guideline but a good one to make your game more interesting and lower scores achievable.

I totally agree. As a senior that now has a drive of about 190 yards, I learned this past summer that moving up to the gold tee boxes makes the game much more fun. I much prefer getting on a par four in two and having two putts for par than on in three and leaving one putt for par.
