I booked online and when I walked in the pro shop, I wasn't greeted by the friendliest of people. After asking my tee time, the man quickly told me how packed they were, the range was closed, it was cart path only and there probably wouldn't be a beverage cart. The course took on a little rain, but no more than the two courses I played the day before...but the range is closed and it's cart path only?? Were they trying to keep me from paying to play? The marshals on the course came by several times and asked about pace of play, but never helped to speed the round up. The course was in great shape, which is the only reason this review warrants three stars. With all the courses to play (Craft Farms, Peninsula, Soldier Creek, Kiva Dunes) all in the same area, these guys better step their game up. Maybe they don't need the public's money since they do have members, but if that's the case, become private. Don't turn off the guests that want to give you more money than your course is worth to play.

Some reviews were mixed on this course. But for $45, it’s the best value and certainly a hidden gem on the Alabama gulf coast. If you’re in the area, play it. The course was nearly perfectly manicured, and the only reason I say nearly is because weather conditions didn’t allow the staff to do their jobs to the fullest extent.

Great layout. Always has been. My last few rounds, the course hasn’t been in the best shape. Saturday, the course was impeccable. Their biggest problem is one, for the money, there are better local places to play. Two, the marshalls are grouchy old men who ruin the experience. The starter walked onto the range 20 minutes prior to my tee time and argued with me about starting early. I still had a few clubs left to hit and told him we had 20 minutes. He threatened to put a foursome out in front of us or pair us with others. Not how I want to start my round. So rather than cause a scene, we packed up and headed to the tee box. Right before I started my backswing, he stopped me and asked for my receipt. Fortunately I let it roll off my shoulders and shot a 75.
The Bluffs on Thompson Creek
Played On 09/30/2017Great layout. Not so great condition.
The course has always been a great layout with great scenery. It hasn’t been very well maintained as of late. And for $70, there are plenty of other courses around that are in much better shape and surely a much better value. If you can get it on a hot deal I’d recommend it but if not, go to Beaver Creek.

Course was in overall good shape. Looks like they're fighting some issues with some rogue grass coming in spotty on a few greens but from what I understand the new superintendent is on top of that. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Wouldn't mind seeing them flatten out a few of the tee boxes. Other than a few small issues and a less than impressive pro shop and facility, there's not much to complain about. I will definitely be back.
