The Plantation Golf Club - Otter Creek Course
Played On 07/10/2021Summer rains, slow greens.
The back nine were closed due to the past several weeks of heavy rains. So we played the front twice. The greens were cut kind of high and though they were dry the day we played, speed was slow. Lots of putts left too short by thinking it would roll out. Fairways were fairly groomed, rough was still playable. A very hot and humid day made for a lot of liquid needed to rehydrate.
Water Oak Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2020Last round of the year.
Played here a few times., since it’s very close and a good price.
A few challenging holes to you think about shot placement. Greens were a bit dry and therefore a bit fast and if you came in hot, you are chipping back on.
Fairways were dry, but we are in the dry season.
A fun round.
Shady Brook Golf & RV
Played On 05/23/2020What a shame....
Played this course several times over the past few years, unfortunately the grounds have not been maintained for reasons unknown. There is work from the Power Co. putting in new High Power lines, but the front nine was just as bad.
The Fairways were not defined nor tee boxes. The greens, or shall i say what USED to be greens....are all dried up and burnt. Ranger swung by as we were on 17 and said it was "Summer-Time" and they'll come back in the winter...I doubt it! Shame, because the course has a fun layout. Front Nine is Florida woods and the road trip through the woods from 5 to 6 is awesome! and Back Nine has a "Links" feel to it with the undulating hills parallel with the former fairways.
I'm not sure if I will play here again....Ill keep an eye on the fairways and green from the road.
Good luck!
Mount Dora Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2020First time this year.
For a municipal course, very good conditions. The newer carts are awesome! Thank you! GPS on the cart plus music....nice! Course is in good shape. No big problems. We will be back.
Thank you also for the Military discount, not that I qualify but its a nice gesture.
Kudos to the pro shop for being considerate and allowing each golfer to have their own cart. It helps at this social distancing practice that is going around.
Country Club of Silver Springs Shores
Played On 11/28/2020A thinking man course.
5 sets of tees to choose from. If you think you hit a long ball, you better be on your A game. Challenging shots over water, long holes, and plenty of traps to try and grab your ball as it makes its way to tbe green
And then there's the greens, all in good shape, no burnt or dead patches. Undulating greens that give you a trying par attempt.
We will play here again
Clerbrook Golf & RV Resort
Played On 09/12/2020Water, tight fairways, deep rough
The width of the fairways is always the fun and challenge here. But with the recent rains, the water was a bit higher and fairways were a bit higher. Lost a few balls in the grass in the middle of a couple of fairways. Greens were not too bad for central Florida. Pace was fine, played with m6 nephew and we were done in 3 hours.
Swiss Fairways Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2020Typical summer day
Tarzan Hot! Played here with my nephew and was paired up with another twosome. One guy was supposedly teaching the other, a long hot round leads to a very long hot day.
Tee boxes were in good shape, fairways were cut, but if you go into the rough, jus5 drop a ball and play “winter rules”. Greens were not too fast. Traps were well maintained.
It’s a fun course trying to avoid the water skiers! I guess that adds an extra distraction. LOL
Will play here again, nice fun layout. Typical central Florida course.
Mount Dora Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2020Full summer heat
Played early and it quickly got warm. Didn't have a problem with pace. Greens were in good shape, well manicured.
Fairways groomed. Traps were smooth. Will play here again. Great quiet course and a good round.
Water Oak Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2020A.C. ( after Covid)
Course was in pretty good shape. Last year was kind of burnt ( greens) but looks like the covid down time allowed them to water the greens and remove a few trees.
Tee boxes were usual trailer park with not much wear and tear.
Fairways were groones and able to define rough from fairway.
Greens were a bit fast but not bad.
Will visit again. Nice layout and a fun course to play.
And you might even get a complement frkm the 'Regulars' who play from the gold tees instead of the tips.
Stonecrest Golf Club
Played On 05/13/2020Had to get out and play s9me golf!
Love this course. Nice layout, usually well cared for. But I think someone forgot to water the greens. Some bald spot that I’m not sure will recover. Fairways needed to be mowed as well . But maybe the staffing is less during this media crap. I will play here again as I love the layout and views. Close to home and a good value.
Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/02/2020Last day b4 shutdown
Had to play before tge state closes. Course was in fair shape for being the dry season. Greens were fast, fairways alittle burnt. But the course is always a fun round. Challenging holes and a few that make you "Go for it!"
Hopefully we can play again before summer.
Zellwood Station & Country Club
Played On 11/22/2019Been a while.
Haven’t played here in a while, living in central FL. , there are numerous courses to choose from. This is a fun course that has a few blind shots and the trip around the crater could be a problem for those that play “army” golf, (left, right, left, right). The other two guys I played with were afraid of the 16th with the pond and decided to play it safe. And I chose to play it straight across and that made all the difference. Greens were in good shape, fairways were fine for the dry season. Snowbirds, this is not a course for you, leave it to the locals!
Continental Country Club
Played On 04/06/2019Enough of the shotgun starts!
Booked the ro7nd for 8:04 and got there around 7:15 because of the stalling effect of gett8ng everyone out. Then we found out they weren’t starting until 8:30. Pace of play was very slow due to the snowbirds. Kudos to the elder gentleman in the 4some ahea$ of us....but it would be nice to pick up the pace. Haven5 played here in 3 or 4 years, probably won’t play again for a few more. Not a fan of the shotgun.
The Lakes Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Quick round before the end of the year.
A fun course for a warm up round or just to get out and play. I play from the blues, and my Dad from the yellows. Only one 5, the rest are a few 4's and mostly 3's so it plays fast. I played by myself and was done in 95 minutes.
Stonecrest Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2016Great Links style course
To find hills in central Florida is rare. This course is laid out to showcase the natural beauty. The uphill and downhill shots, blind greens and tons of bunkers, both pothole and freestyle make for a thinking round of golf. Shot placement is a must. For winter conditions, greens had a few spots, but everything was well manicured. I one I'll be back again to play here!
Zellwood Station & Country Club
Played On 11/05/2016Golf in the fall.
Geeens were very fast and fairways were a bit dry in parts, but then again we are in the dry season. Not bad pace of play for a Saturday. Keeping the ball in the fairway is a good idea on this course, avoid the crater junction. LOL
Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2016One of my favorites
Played here with my dad. Temporary greens on a few of the holes, but they were puttable, compared to some of the course I've played this summer. Fairways were in good shape as well as the tee boxes. The staff was very nice. Played from the blues, and the options to play other tees was nice. I'll play here again for sure!
Mount Dora Golf Club
Played On 06/03/2016The heat is on, but doing good
Played here with 3 others. I was happy to get a discount for 2 veterans in my foursome. Thank you! Course is in good shape, tee boxes not too bad, greens are coming around, I've been to orher courses and everyone has aerated the greens causing poor putting, but not here.
Lots of up and downs. Not that much water. Bunkers could use some attention. I'll be playing here again this summer.
Deer Island Country Club
Played On 05/14/2016Second time was no easier.
Played here on New Year's Day, 30 degrees and 40 mph winds! Loved the layout and the challenge. Had to try again, I thought the price was fair with the aeration alert. It will be awesome when the rain season brings the grass back. Like I told my partner, " Bring Lots of Ballls!" It's a water course with some tees and greens floating on the lake! I'll play again and again!
Meadows/Oaks Golf Course at Pennbrooke Fairways
Played On 02/27/2016Mid winter play.
Played Santuary and Meadows. Meadows has no 5's and played very fast. We played from the black tees and was not too difficult. We usually play from the whites. Sanctuary did have. Pair of 5's. Par for both nines was 67. Greens were not too beat up. It is winter and seemed to be surviving the Florida cold. Fairways were maintained and groomed nicely. Tee box were not too shabby either. The price is a bit steep, we played for $26. I'll play again if the price is right.
if you play this course after 2 pm you pay 25.00 unlimited play til dark...
Hi Kenneth. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Zellwood Station Golf Club!
