Coachwood Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/25/2022Good value
The staff was friendly, efficient and very accommodating. The course is in good shape. The rough is very playable. Greens were a bit slow but in good shape. Definitely good value for the cost of the green fees and will definitely be back.
Dunham Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/23/2019Great Course Trouble With Greens
Dunham Hills is one of my favourite places to play golf. The greens at Dunham are usually extremely quick and roll really well. The adage "do not hit it past the pin" applies to Dunham 100%. Unfortunately it seems the greens at Dunham have been severely impacted whether by the weather or some other factor I am not sure but they simply are not in good shape and it appeared that it may be some time before they are back to Dunham's norm which is terrific.
Blackheath Golf Club
Played On 08/04/2018Fun Track Links Look
Have played Blackheath several times. It has a links look with some fescue but minus the pot bunkers. I played the blue tees. Challenging par 3s. #7 and 15 have more room than it appears in front of the greens. #8 is a par 5 whose tee shot can be a bit confusing if you have not played the course. The fairway goes out well to the right and then bends back to the left. #11 is a tough par 5 with a couple of bunkers on the right that you do not see from the tee. There is lots of room left. The 3 finishing holes are challenging. 16 is a long par 4. #17 is a par 5 that forces most of us to lay up off the tee and plays uphill to the green. You can see almost all of the course from the 17th green. #18 is again a long par 4.
Whispering Pines
Played On 07/29/2018Nice Course Beaten Up a Bit
I like Whispering Pines and always look forward to playing the course. I like the variety of holes and they are all fair but challenging. I really like the different length par 3s ranging from about 135 to 185. Normally the course is in really good shape. Unfortunately it was not the case July 29th. I can live with tees being kind of sparse and beaten up but for the first time the greens were not in good shape. It was like there had been a couple of large outings on the course and nothing had been done to the greens since. There were a lot of ball marks, the area around the holes was really worn and scuffed and the edges of the holed were really chewed up. That said it will not deter me from playing W.P. again and often. I fully expect the course will be back to its normally good condition the next time we play there.
Washtenaw Golf Club
Played On 07/08/2018Oldie But Goodie
It is easy to tell Washtenaw Golf Course is more than 100 years old. Short walks from greens to next tee, parallel fairways and trees that look to be hundreds of years old. This was my 1st time playing it but will not be my last. It is a course with character. Short, mid and long par 3s. Testing but fair par 5s and a variety of par 4s ranging from under 300 yards to over 400.. Greens were good. Very few ball marks. My only complaint would be this... There are 4 sets of tees. They measure 6500+ 6200 5660 and 5415. There is not enough difference between the 2 shorter tees and 5400 yards makes for a very long course for a lot of ladies including my wife. It would be great if Washtenaw found a way to put in a set of tees that measured around 5000 or 5100 yards. I think the ladies and perhaps some juniors would enjoy the course much more. That said, I think Washtenaw is an oldie hut goodie.
Golden Hawk Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2018Good Solid Course
Golden Hawk is a good solid course. The layout is relatively straightforward with a couple of interesting holes such as a driveable par 4. Staff is very accommodating.
Sugarbush Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2017Good and Not So Good...
First, Paul in the pro shop was terrific. He was super friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately, the pro shop was virtually bare. We were hoping to get hats or shirts from Sugarbush but there were no hats and very few shirts. As to the course it was in good shape. Based on reviews I read, I am going to be in minority, but I was a bit disappointed in the layout. There wasn't a hole that I thought was unfair but none of the holes really stood out. There were no holes that were "memorable." Would I play the course again. Yes but only if I find a great deal on Golfnow.
Whispering Pines
Played On 10/01/2017Always Good
Always like playing Whispering Pines. Enjoy the variety of holes. Course is always in good condition. 9th hole is tough uphill par 3. Definitely add 1 and maybe 2 clubs. 12th hole has water completely across fairway about 110 yards from green. 16th hole tee shot is blind over hill. Stay a little right.
Dunham Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/24/2017One of My Favourites
My wife and I always enjoy Dunham Hills. I really enjoy the variety of holes. 4 par 3s that require different clubs for each. A couple of short par 4s and a couple of really testing ones. Par 5s where birdies or double bogeys can be made. My only complaint this time was Dunham usually has some of the fastest greens we play on all year but this time the greens were mulch slower than Dunham's normal. Will definitely be back lots. Just hope that the greens are back to Dunham's normal speed... lightning fast.
Moose Ridge Golf Course
Played On 09/03/2017Great Course But...
Moose Ridge is a great course with some terrific holes. It is usually in great shape. The greens are fun to putt. So why the but in my title? Moose Ridge is a frustrating course because more than half the golf course is cart path only every day. You expect the par 3s to be cart path only but several other holes are cart path only as well. Some holes have cart restrictions in certain areas and others seem to keep you far away from greens. GPS on the carts is helpful but for short hitters and women this course can be frustrating. They have to take several clubs with them because they cannot be sure how far they will have to the green after the initial shot. You will enjoy the course but be prepared to walk more than normal.
Metamora Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/26/2017Challenging Course
Metamora is a course where course knowledge is really beneficial. It is a course where knowing not only how far you hit your driver but how far you carry it in the air is crucial. There are tee shots requiring carries over water so knowing how much to cut off is important. A range finder is valuable. Water is a factor on several holes starting on the very first hole. The par 5 3rd has water all over it. The 10th hole has a very sneaky creek cutting across the fairway that is not visible from the tee or much of the fairway.
Fox Hills Golf Center - Golden Fox Course
Played On 08/20/2017Nice Course Fairly Wide Open
First time playing Golden Fox. Enjoyed the course. Some room off the tee on most holes. 4th hole is severe dog leg right. Definitely want to aim at black and white marker in fairway which is only about 165 yards from white tees. Easy to get blocked out right and plays long if you bail left.
Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2017Wonderful but Tough Course
Otter Creek is a wonderful course that is very very challenging. Drop the ego and play the right tees for your ability. It can be very challenging for ladies. This was the second time playing the course. My only complaint was the greens were not quite as good this time as the first time we played it. Good still but not quite as good. This time we arrived early enough to have lunch at the course and it was terrific. A+ for the food.
Pine Knot Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/19/2017One of Our Favourites
Thoroughly enjoy playing Pine Knot as does my wife and that makes Pine Knot a hit. It was in great condition. Compared to other courses, the greens had very few ball marks etc. to deal with and they were smooth and quick. Pace of play was good. Pine Knot is about 2 hours from our home but it is definitely worth the drive in our opinion.
Thank you for making the trip Doug, we are happy that you see the value that is being noticed by many others! We love having you at the club and look forward to the next time!
Marysville Golf Course
Played On 07/30/2017Nice Mix of Holes
Was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised with Marysville. Course is relatively flat but creates variety with a mix of straight holes and dog legs. There are a few water hazards to deal with but nothing too difficult. Course was in good shape. Greens were fast enough to be fun to putt but not so fast to be unfair. Bunkers seemed to be good to play from. Two minor complaints. Tees were very very hard and there is no range. Neither is enough to keep me from returning. Definitely on my play list now.
Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 06/18/2017Hidden Gem
Did not know Otter Creek existed until 2 days before we played there. This is a course that lives up to its accolades. Loved every moment except for the 20 minute downpour on the 12th. My only "complaint" is that Otter Creek is 2 and a half hours or so from my house. This is a course I could play everyday. We get to play a lot of great courses in Michigan including some in northern Michigan and Otter Creek is as good as any we play. In fact, give me the choice to play Otter Creek or infamous Arcadia Bluffs and I will choose Otter Creek without hesitation.
Moose Ridge Golf Course
Played On 05/28/2017Wonderful Course
A friend raved about the course so I was going with high expectations and wasn't disappointed. Very fair but challenging course in great condition. First time playing the course but definitely one I want to play a lot more times. Really enjoyed the layout. Great greens to putt on.
Black River Country Club
Played On 05/20/2017Hard Greens
Overall course condition was just fair. A little sparse on some tees and fairways. Biggest issue were the greens. Very firm, balls rolling a long way, often hitting short of the pin and rolling across and off the greens even when hitting wedges.
Shenandoah Country Club
Played On 04/23/2017Challenging Course
Challenging course. We played middle tees. Course would be very challenging from back tees. Quick greens. Lots of elevation changes with parallel holes so one would play uphill and the next downhill. Nice balance between holes requiring left to right and right to left shots. Will be playing the course again in mid June and definitely looking forward to it.
Timber Trace Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2017Good Layout
Nice course with a bit of an up north feel. Some construction going on creating one temporary green. Definitely worth playing especially at price we paid on GolfNow.
Thanks for the 4-star review dougtrudell! Glad you noticed our up north feel, something we strive for here. Construction is over and we are currently in the regrow process. Hope to see you back at the course again soon. Thanks for playing!
Hi, Doug. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Dunham Hills. We hope to see you again in the future.
