West Bridgewater Country Club
Played On 05/11/2023Great last minute decision!
Was just in the area and decided to grab this reasonably priced tee time and enjoy the sun and breeze. The course was in nice condition. Greens had just been punched within the week but they still rolled pretty nicely. I was a bit baffled by the layout... front nine is relatively short with several par 4s that play less than 380 from the tips. The back nine is more tree lined and gets quite a bit longer, though not exceptionally long. I was surprised to see a few par 4s that played 420+. The pace of play for a single was great and I was asked to play through twice by groups of 4. Overall I really enjoyed this round of golf and would go back again, should I ever find myself in the area.
Patriots Glen Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2022New Management: Hopeful for the future
This course is under new management and the staff is positive and hopeful about the future for this track. A nice blend of holes: long and straight and niche' holes that make this a really fun afternoon. The grass on the greens was full and longer than golfers would prefer, but staff confirmed this is part of a process they are going through right now to rehabilitate the entire course. An outside company was hired to verticut and top dress the greens and it really shows. The tee boxes were long and fluffy - hopefully those will be mowed shorter soon along with the fairways. It was obvious that they are actively working to promote grass health so we played the ball up so as not to have unfair lies in the fairways.
I am looking forward to seeing this course rehabilitate and improve. I have a good feeling this is going to be one to check out in the future.
White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park
Played On 04/24/2022Shot Makers Paradise
This golf course is a nice track and as the conditions improve through the spring and summer will be a real treat for many golfers. I would start by advising if you aren't at least a moderately practiced golfer, this course might not be for you. The rough is truly rough and the greens are fast and unforgiving. There are lots of opportunities for shot making both off of the tee and approaching the green complexes. Local knowledge in invaluable, so if you haven't played it, plan one round just to observe the course and where shots should be placed so that you can come back and really score well in the future. Played the white tees on this visit. Tees played a solid 6500 yard round. Many of the holes are position tee shots leaving many mid and long irons into greens. Par threes all played over 160 with the exception of 17 (120 yds). Only hit driver 3 or 4 times. I really enjoyed this round and the challenges and loved the opportunities to hit some real quality shots. As a final note, I travel for work and can't carry golf shoes with me. I play in running shoes and that was a challenge as the tees and fairways are mowed rather short here and I struggled to keep my footing. It was damp on this day, so that provided a different challenge for me. All that to say, I will be back. Where is the first tee and what is the course record?!
Butterfield Trail Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2020Diamond in the rough!
Fun! That's the best word I can use to describe this course. This course demands accuracy off of the tee and shot shaping into the greens. The greens were rolling wonderfully! The only reason for the "good" rating on course conditions was a few dead spots that they appear to be working on correcting.
This course is truly a diamond in the rough at El Paso! Such a surprise to play a desert style course in such wonderful condition! I will be back!
The Resort Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2020Could be great....
Not the first time I've reviewed The Resort - Maybe the staff will read this...
This could be the greatest track in the Fort Worth area, but the greens remain average at best and it doesn't appear there is any watering happening on most of the fairways. There are multiple opportunities for beautiful water features in the ponds, but they remain empty, or only puddled with murky, stinky water.
This isn't my departure from playing the resort, only a heartfelt evaluation of what I wish I would see happening as that course becomes an aged course in the area. The mix of challenging holes and very accessible holes is great; the tee box options allow for wonderful options based on your skill level.
Definitely worth the drive out to Eagle Mtn. Lake if you want a reasonably priced round of golf in a nice, resort style setting.
Lone Star Golf Course
Played On 08/31/2020Unexpectedly Wonderful!
Last minute opportunity to get a quick round it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this course played.
The tees, fairways and greens were all in great condition. Putt read true and rolled well, even for late in the day. Several summer heat spots had died and had to be played around. The course is tight with lots of trees. Even though it is not terribly long, I was able to hit driver on several holes. Penalized for mishits. Rewarded for good shots.
I will definitely be back.
Whitestone Golf Course
Played On 05/19/2020Great course - Needs a marshal
Played Whitestone for the first time. Really enjoyed the course and the conditions were good. Greens were filling in but mostly rolled true and with moderate speed. We played from hole 3 to 18, however, behind 3 two-somes and 2 four-somes. We saw what looked like a marshal coming out and watching us several times, but they never moved the foursomes (who didn't appear to be very competent golfers) and we trudged along. After #2, we never played to shots in a row without a wait of around 2-5 minutes each time. A two-some in front of us quit at #14, but that didn't really help out the pace any.
Thank you for visiting us at Whitestone Golf Course. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Patriot Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/24/2019Beautiful Course on a Beautiful Day
Being from Texas, I was over joyed with the beautiful views and wonderful course layout at Patriot. The course was busy and we barely got 18 in under 5 hours. Pace was great until 11 and then there was rarely a hole with less than 3 groups on it. This is not a hackers course as shot making is rewarded and shot placement is crucial. I hit several great shots that ended up only marginal, proving the benefit of course knowledge in having a successful round of golf. The course was in beautiful condition; fairways cut close and greens were fast and true.
I will definitely be back to play this course again when I'm in the area. Look forward to bringing experience back for shot making and placement.
Rochelle Ranch Golf Course
Played On 09/28/2019Amazing Course - Never would have guessed!
Was on a work 4 day trip to Saratoga and had to stay in Rawlins. What a gift that was!
I was absolutely astonished at this beautiful course with an amazing layout and incredible scenery in south central Wyoming. If you are traveling I-80 or visiting in the SC WY area, you MUST go play this gem of a course.
5 different tee box selections made it new experience every time. I played the tips in 20+ MPH winds but was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it was. Many long clubs came out of the bag - the 693 Yard Par 5 on the back is a super test of accuracy and distance. I don't recommend the tips if you aren't confident in your driving distance and accuracy.
Played one round for the middle box which I would suggest is a great option for an average golfer (10-20 handicap). Had I had another day, I would have played the front boxes to see a completely different perspective on this amazing golf holes.
Course staff was kind and I enjoyed hearing the history of this golf course and the legacy of Mr. Rochelle
Arrowhead Golf Course
Played On 12/02/2019Good Value
Nice layout with a few interesting holes. Not a driver off every tee which is refreshing. Greens were a bit long and bumpy but not horrible. Still could make a few putts.
The Golf Club at Champions Circle
Played On 08/15/2019Great track and potential for greatness
First time playing here and I enjoyed the round. The greens have been aerated in the past month or so; they were slow and unpredictable. This is a temporary setback for this course, I hope. I played on a hot day when the course was wide open. I played my own pace and had plenty of great chances for birdie. This course has some interesting holes and nice views. I particularly enjoyed the final 5 holes.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 07/04/2018Great course for the price
Mystic Dunes didn’t disappoint. The greens are being fixed up after some damage has been done in the past. Pretty typical Florida summer greens. It looked like they were leaving them a bit long to try and fill in... maybe. The fairways were mostly great and the tee grounds were closely mowed and in good shape. We enjoyed the layout and were challenged on several occasions.
For first time players, the scorecard map and map of each hole doesn’t necessarily do any justice to what you will actually play. Several holes I hit a specific club and got to my ball to find out I should have played a much different shot. Do some research before you come out here.
Overall, I would and will play this one again and would recommend anyone who likes a few good challenges to play it again.
Willow Springs Golf Course
Played On 06/13/2018Could be great
We live less than a mile from WSGC so it’s disappointing to see the course in the condition it is. The greens are under par, the tee boxes are decent but some were soft and thick so teeing up the ball was a challenge. I’m a bit stickler for aesthetics, so I noticed they apparently don’t own a string line trimmer....
The layout of the course is great. It’s not long at all. Leave your driver in the bag if you’d like. It requires some shots be pulled off due to short holes where you can’t see the green from the tee... sort of old school golf at this fin... no, mediocre.
I don’t think there is irrigation in the fairways, so I’ll give them that one. It’s hot.... like 100+ in the afternoon. A few of the greens were under par, most par bogey. That made putting only a small hopefully portion of the round. Biggest issue with fairways is the lack of a cart policy for staying on the path or away from certain areas of the course. Carts are everywhere all Willy nilly and no one seemed to care.
I think as long as I can catch some good GolfNow deals for tee times, I’ll probably take my business elsewhere and hope they figure something out at WCGC. Could be great, but no longer a destination golf course, even for the locals.
Hi Gorilla99. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at The Golf Club at the Resort!
