Course conditions are as nice as most Twin Cities area high end private courses. Great practice facility. Treat yourself to a round here and stay after for great food and drinks on the outside patio overlooking the 18th green.

Wow. Prestwick was in better condition than any other high end public course and better than most private clubs I have played this year. Great layout that is enjoyable for all skill levels with a nice variety of holes. Stay for dinner afterwards in their Pub. Outdoor patio overlooking the 18th green is the perfect spot for dinner and drinks. Can't wait to go back.

Play here a couple times a year and love the layout. Friendly staff and conditions are always great. Fantastic practice range and putting green with chipping area.

Fantastic new management. Ken in the proshop goes out of his way to make you feel welcomed. Enjoy playing and got 5 star service with a golf outing. Course conditions were among the best of the 30+ courses I've played this year (including private clubs). Highly recommend

Treat yourself to a round here. Even in first year, already one of the premier public golf & banquet facilities in Minnesota. Every hole is unique with plenty of scoring and birdie opportunities. Greens have more undulation than most public tracks but that's what contributes to it's uniqueness. Have played over 100 different courses around Minnesota and Royal is in my top 5. Food in the restaurant Arnies is excellent, too, with amazing patio views

Played for first time while traveling through the area and was glad I stopped. Played in September 2018 and course was in good shape. Staff was friendly. Hung out after the round for a beer and won $100 in pull tabs! If playing for first time, ask the proshop for guidance on getting to some holes as some cross a road and can be a little confusing. Overall great experience. Live an hour away but will go back for sure.

Gets my vote as a top 10 public course in Minnesota. One of my favorite places to bring golf events. No houses. Fun layout and always in great shape.

Haven't played here for 5-6 years and wow has everything improved. Some of the best greens anywhere and proshop to restaurant to course conditions are top notch. Fun elevation changes and great views. Love bringing golf groups to Red Wing and Lake City area, such a fun town and better weather than "up north". New manager Paul was especially welcoming and friendly. Will be back again soon!

Was blown away with how nice this course was. Every detail from teebox to bunkers to greens were fancy country club condition. Glad it's open to the public. Seriously this place is like Lil' Augusta. Food in restaurant after the round was excellent too!

One of my favorite south metro area golf courses. Always in good shape and playable holes makes for an enjoyable day. Play it more often now that it's part of the Public Country Club program. Try it, you'll like it.

Hands down the best 9 hole golf course in Minnesota. Great design, extremely well maintained and super friendly staff. Glad they joined the Public Country Club program. Wish they would expand this into 18 holes...has potential to be a top 5 course in the East metro with 9 more great holes.

Played here for the first time this year and really enjoyed it. Greens were in excellent shape and layout was fun and fair. I don't live close but will play it a couple times a year.

One of my favorite courses in the south metro. Always in great shape with friendly staff and a fun layout. Live 45 minutes away but make sure to play it a couple times a year.

I played here on July 4th and was very impressed with all the course condition improvements they are doing.

Will go back - fun layout and staff seems to also be improved.

Was pleasantly surprised by the friendly new staff and course conditions were good for early spring. Can tell they care about this place again. Look forward to returning many times this season. Great value and fun layout.

One of the coolest courses I've ever played. Great course conditions and extra friendly staff. If you're in Tucson, this is a must play.

I play more than 20 different courses each year in the Twin Cities and Deer Run is still my favorite place to play. Good variety of holes, best public greens I play on all year, not too hard, super friendly staff (including rangers), fast pace of play and the BEST burgers I've every had at a golf course OR restaurant.

I saw a comment about their fairways being in tough shape in May 2013...they are GREAT now. Spring of 2013 was the WORST weather in 100+ years and even private clubs had spots on their fairways in May this year. It is now in perfect shape again (as usual).

Bottom line...try it, you'll like it...and it's only 15 minutes from 494 and Highway 5.
