Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Course
Played On 08/03/2013Overrated Course
I am not a fan of this course as some others are. The course layout itself is very odd in some holes. The first and 9th hole has a shared fairway with hackers slicing and hooking the ball into each other. Many of the hazards are hidden on this course. Hole 2 you cannot even see that there is a creek to the left of the green, another hole on the front I believe hole 6 is a terrible design ,it is a split fairway and the tee boxes are not built up enough for you to have any clue where to hit the shot. The pace of play is slow, the conditions were rough due to the amount of play. I also was not a fan of the heather in the middle of the fairways around the bunkers. Okay course but my favorite course in the Lewiston/Youngstown area is still Niagara Frontier, I recommend you try that course.

The course has a nice layout and is fun to play for golf outings. Problem is it gets so much play from tournaments that the place is usually beat up pretty bad.
Niagara Frontier Country Club
Played On 05/31/2013Hidden Gem in WNY
Niagara Frontier is a "hidden gem" of WNY. I recommend any golf now user to try to get up to play this course. This course has a ton of character with the rolling hills, and mature trees which on some holes make it extremely tight. Each hole has something unique to it, every hole on the back nine has water in play other than the last hole. What I love about this course is you can play it multiple times and it could play much different each time. The course also plays longer than the yardage, especially from the blue tees. The pro shop staff was among the most friendly I have seen.

I have always known Niagara Falls Country Club for the porter cup tournament, but when I finally got a chance to play this course I was not impressed. The layout was uninspiring. Many holes are just flat and long, most of the challenges of this course come with length and bunker play. I was surprised as well to the condition of the course. Many of the greens had burnt greens from the winter months, talking to some of the members, apparently this is a regulator occurrence in the spring/early summer. Quite a shame for an exclusive type club.
This is Devin from Seneca Hickory Stick Golf Club. I am sorry for your negative experience here at my course. If you can please reach out to me, I would like to hear more about your visit and if there is anything we can do. I can be reach by email or phone located on our website. I am the Director of Sales & Marketing and I can ensure that your next visit here will be better. Although I cannot change the course layout, the heather around our bunkers have been trimmed and Hole #6 was voted the Best 6th Hole in Buffalo by Buffalo Golfer website. I look forward to hearing from you.
