Grado GC

Grado Golf Club is situated along the Adriatic Sea, Southeast of Udine, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Dogs are welcome to join you as long as they are well behaved. My wife and I brought our two dogs out for a round of golf for the first time here and we all had a great time. Before the round, we at at the restaurant and had amazing meals and drinks... maybe a couple too many drinks before the round of golf :) I got paired up with a nice couple from Germany who were very friendly. The course was in excellent condition and the greens were rolling at a medium speed. There were no major elevation changes which was beneficial, because it was a pretty warm day and we were walking. The scenery was great and there was plenty of wildlife on the course to keep my wife happy. There were beavers, frogs, swans, and ducks all over the course. Lots of water to keep your eye open for and plenty of intimidating shots over bunkers and water to reach the greens. The course was semi-challenging but is great for all skill levels. A bit pricey, but worth the trip. Staff was extremely friendly, which is a plus.

Excellent Course

Golf Club Udine is a challenging, yet fun course to play. I walked the course and it was a great workout with all the hills. The course is pretty technical, so course management comes in to play with all the doglegs and elevated greens. On the day that I went, it was early season so there was sand on the greens. It didn't really hinder my putting and actually helped me stick a couple of the greens a little better than how I might have fared. The front nine was great with the 1st tee rolling downhill to boost your ego off the bat with a long drive. The 6th is a sharp dogleg right that you can actually cut. The 7th is a fun par 5 with a blind dogleg left approach downhill. The back nine is when it turns into a roller coaster. The 14th is a tricky uphill dogleg right with 2 options. The 15th is a gorgeous, long par 5 that drops over a hill on your tee shot. Watch out for the pond on the left. The 16th is CRAZY! It's a par 3 with the flag on top of a hill about 20 meters higher than the tee box. The 18th is a great finishing hole with one of the largest greens I've ever played. Overall, this is a great course to play and I will highly recommend it to my friends.

Busy on Weekends

I was able to get a tee time on short notice since my local courses had tournaments going on that day. The receptionist was friendly and honest when she said that the course was a little busy. I didn't know that when she said busy, that there was a tournament going on at this course as well. I played the back nine first since the players in the competition were on the front. This course has a lot of different challenges with water hazards, thick trees, and strategically placed bunkers. I loved the 14th hole that was in the middle of a pond. Overall, this is a good course with a good price. Had to down star because I had to wait behind 4 groups and there were a lot of muddy puddles on the fairways. I would go back in the summer or during the week. Not on the weekends.

Great Alpine Course

I decided to play this course on one of the last two days of the 2014 season. I called the day before to set up a tee time. The staff was extremely friendly and gave me a great price. When I arrived, the parking lot was pretty full so I had to park along the entryway fence line, which wasn't a big deal. Since there were a couple groups waiting to tee off on the 1st, I decided to warm up at the driving range which was pretty cool because you hit your shots in to a big bowl . The first hole is a Par 3 down a hill, which was pretty nice. I ended up catching a threesome on hole 3 and made friends with them despite our language barrier. I was snapping pictures the whole day because the course has so much scenery to look at, being that it's up in the mountains. The greens were a little tough because it was the end of the season. They were a mix of sand and short grass, but the putts still rolled decently. The course was marked pretty well with the hole locations and was fairly simple to navigate. I will definitely be heading back to this course next year when it opes back up again.

Beautiful Course

Played this course while on leave, with my Brother In-Law. He got us on for a morning tee time even though there was a tournament going on. Pace of play was perfect. The course is cut out of the desert which was pretty amazing to me and the sagebrush made for some challenging rough. The back 9 had some beautiful views of the Yakima River. Next time I'm in town, I might try and get another round in here.

Great Course

This course beautiful, yet challenging. A buddy and I walked this course a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. Some of the tee boxes were matted, probably due to all the rain we've had this summer. The back 9 is very challenging with trees lining the fairways and blind water hazards, but that's also what makes the course so beautiful.

My Favorite Course

This course has got to be my favorite course I've ever played for reasons both sentimental and otherwise. My grandpa took me here when I was learning how to golf and whenever I'm in the area, I find time to get a round in. The course is gorgeous and like another poster said, you have incredible views of the canyon on some of the holes. There's even one dogleg that if you're brave, you can shoot it over part of the canyon. Sagebrush will assist you in losing some golf balls if you're not careful. The course is great to walk or ride.
