Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2019No escape from Power Lines
Visually, the course is hurt by power lines all over the course and a couple of busy, noisy roads. Too many of the green are uninteresting. Two have significant tiers and one has a nice ridge to consider. Tee boxes need work. The rest of the course is in good shape for September (still 105 degrees or more and very little rain or humidity this summer).
Challenging approach shots on most holes due to mounding and dropoffs. Generous fairways.
Somehow, it took almost as long to play the final six holes as it did to play the first twelve?
Minimal staff this time of year.

Great layout. Plays easier than it looks. Lots of hidden fairway and green areas challenge a first look golfer. Green were well maintained, fast, and not a bump all day.
Very hot, no wind. Appreciated the drink cart.
Staff was great. Well run golf facility.
Fort Belvoir Golf Club - Gunston Course
Played On 04/28/2017Nice layout, Weak Management, Not for Women?
Course in OK shape. Lots of poor conditions around the greens with weeds and bare spots. The layout is tough, but it has many holes with beautiful vistas and nice contrast of bright white sand and lush green fairways. Back nine was very quiet once away from the road (#10).
Management is lacking...had to wait for golf cart keys even though there were dozens of carts sitting at the starter's shack. Never saw the drink cart close up, only at a distance.
Played with my wife and we agreed it was the least ladies friendly course seen to date. Many holes had no red tee markers and several had markers in the middle of nowhere or on unmowed tee boxes. Irritating and maybe intentional?
