Eagle Chase Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2024Just about perfect.
I love this course: nice layout although my playing partners said that some holes were "tricky".
My suggestion would be to improve the food options.
Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course at Revolution Park
Played On 10/26/2023Don’t underestimate this course!
After checking in with the friendly, helpful staff, drive in your quiet electric cart past the three green practice area (and home of The First Tee of Greater Charlotte), you pull up to the first tee of this 9-hole course and think “meh”. Straight, flat, and long, the First Hole looks boring. However, the rest of the course offers subtleties that challenge experienced players without giving up the playability necessary for new players. The course gets heavy play, but it holds up with good conditions and pace of play. The historic significance of the course is told with plaques on each tee. If you’re looking for an enjoyable 2-hour round convenient to Uptown Charlotte, consider Dr. Charles T. Sifford at Revolution Park.
Eagle Chase Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2023Best course I've played in the Charlotte area!
Every green, every fairway, every tee box, every trap was perfect. Scenic views from several elevated tees. Pinetree lined fairways reminded me of Augusta National.
Call the course directly to get the Senior Rate.
I can't wait to get back to Eagle Chase!
Thanks so much for the great review, hovelandj. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Eagle Chase Golf Club.
Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
Played On 05/24/2023More than the river is Rocky!
Challenging layout with excellent greens for putting. Well appointed pro shop, nicely merchandised with competitive prices.. Electric carts with built in GPS are a big plus - you can even listen to hip-hop, Mozart, or cool jazz using the Bluetooth option (Wha?!). Large rocks come into play on several holes, particularly #3.
On the downside, this course is carved out of lowland woods so your ball is easily lost just a few few feet off the fairway (but you can usually find someone else's ball!). Some holes are cart path only due to soft fairways, negating the cool GPS carts. Grill room is okay, although during slow season the menu is very limited. Probably would be better if more golfers (and non-golfers) stayed for sandwiches.
All-in-all, a very good golf experience - one of my favorites in the Charlotte area. I highly recommend this course and please stay for lunch and a draft beer.
Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
Played On 09/07/2022Great vakue
Perfect greens, true and fast. Fairways, tee boxes great too. Special call-out for the sand traps - all were raked and plenty of sand ( if only we can get our fellow golfers to rake after their shot! What do they think those rakes laying there are for?).
Staff friendly and professional.
Great carts too
Carolina Lakes Golf Club
Played On 06/01/2021Beautiful but beware!
Greens are great, true and soft. Fairways close cut and firm, lots of roll, even when you don't want it. Sand traps are plentiful, full of soft, fluffy sand, difficult. Tee boxes were too firm. If you can get your tee into the ground, it almost always broke, even plastic tees.
Bring your best game or you will have a long day. This course is beautiful, well designed and challenging.
Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Played On 05/11/2021Big improvement
The greens are SO much better this spring than they were last summer. And, unlike most of the other courses in the Charlotte area, these greens are soft and can hold a shot. We had avery enjoyable round today, and a nice lunch afterwards.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
Monroe Country Club
Played On 04/20/2021A good value but not what it once was
The greens, although recently dressed, putted true. The dressing affected the "bite" ability somewhat. The sandtraps had plenty of sand, although others failed to use the rakes provided as common golf etiquette dictates. Tee boxes were worn and thin.
The course itself is a nicely laid out and challenging for a wide range of golfers - not too easy, not too hard.
Too bad one can't buy a sandwich and a beer, only packaged snacks and soft drinks, etc.
Cougar Point at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Played On 10/09/2020Always a great experience
Played nine holes late in the day on Cougar Point. Perfect time to play. Nice to have the nine-hole option any time during the day, especially if you are on a family beach vacation.
As always at Kiawah, the course was in perfect condition. Greens were almost perfect, marred only by inconsiderate "golfers" who fail to repair their ball marks. Greens putted true and surprisingly slow compared to other courses I've played recently. Good shots checked up quickly on these lush greens. Fairways, traps, tee boxes were perfect.
The beauty of Kiawah Island is revealed by all the courses. Some courses take you out near the ocean, others into the marsh, but always surrounded by the wonders of nature. It's easy to be distracted by the beauty of the course and it's surroundings. Errant shots are subject to out of bounds or into natural hazards.
Love the these courses; love the whole place for that matter. Can't wait to go back.
Fort Mill Golf Club
Played On 09/16/2020Always a great experience
Fort Mill is one of about a dozen courses we play regularly in the Charlotte area, but we play it more often than the others. The reason for this is that Fort Mill GC is always in good condition, plays fast, has electric carts, and a great Senior rate.
The greens are very good, fast and true. Maybe it's me, but they seem a little too hard. You seldom see a ball mark. Chips and short pitches just seem to run and run. Even a well-struck full shot will end up in the back.
Love the course though.
Your feedback is important to us, hovelandj. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Fort Mill Golf Club.
Tega Cay Golf Club - The Cove
Played On 09/10/2020Great First Impression
Under threatening skies, my friend and I played The Pines/Grande View combination at Tega Cay. We were immediately impressed with the club house, the friendliness of the pro shop team, and the brand new electric carts.
We were fortunate to be paired with a long time member, Don, who helped us with the strategy of this challenging course. There is a premium on position and shot making at this course. It seems like half the holes have a beautiful Vista from the tee. Fairways are narrow and the rough is not too punitive.
But the layout is not the only thing that is excellent at this course - the fairways, tee boxes, fairways and sandtraps were all in excellent shape. What really stood out for us was the excellent greens. Very fast and true, the greens held a well hit shot, unlike many of the greens in our area.
We can't wait to get back to Tega Cay.
Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Played On 09/03/2020Terrible greens
Great rate, but the worst greens we've on this year. They have to do something. Some of the blame goes to the players who fail to repair their ball marks. The rest of the course is in great shape and the layout requires thought and shot making. A lot of potential, but until they solve the greens, we'll play somewhere else.
We apologize for the condition of our greens. The bent grass greens have suffered recently due to a combination of increased play, heat, and rain. We are working hard to have them back in great shape over the coming weeks. Thank you for your understanding and hope to have you back out this fall when the greens have healed up.
Waterford Golf Club
Played On 08/27/2020Exceeded all our expectations
We had a very enjoyable round of golf at yesterday. Except for #10, all the tee boxes were in good shape. The shorter par 3s were heavily divoted of course, and #10 looked like it had been eroded by a flash flood from a nearby creek. Fairways were in great shape as were the sandtraps. The greens were amazing! Lightning fast and true, the slopes from Irwin's original design. We played in less than 4 hours but did not rush. Definitely on our short list of places to play in the Charlotte area!
Monroe Country Club
Played On 08/20/2020Challenging greens
Enjoyed our round at Monroe CC yesterday. We found the greens and pin placements particularly challenging, sometimes tucked in corners of the green, almost impossible to get the ball close on a chip or pitch. The course was in great condition and play moved along quickly. We finished our round in 3 hours 40 minutes.
The cost for separate carts during Covid-19 was somewhat excessive. The club has been challenged to have carts available for everyone so they have raised the cost for individuals to $18/round. So instead of sharing or paying the cost, we took turns walking with the other driving. Worked out great!
We look forward to our next round at Monroe CC.
Note: This course only offers gas carts . Ugh.
Springfield Golf Club
Played On 10/29/2019Country Club Experience for the daily player
My friend and I played Springfield GC for the first time yesterday and we were delighted with our experience. A cloudy Tuesday so the course was not busy. We played in 4 hours but we were in no hurry and even stopped for an awesome chili dog after nine holes.
Although the greens had been recently dressed with fine sand, it didn't seem to adversely affect our play. The layout is tight and demanding but the golfer's aid card described helpful tips and strategies to navigate the course.
The course conditions were perfect in the fairway and around the greens. Any ball off the fairway was often in deep trouble. Some areas were designated environmental areas where golfers were prohibited, with good reason.
Springfield touts great electric carts, plenty of on-course water coolers, ballwashers on every hole, yardage plaques on the tees.Use the extra key that comes with your cart to gain access to the pristine restrooms on the course.
We can't wait to play Springfield again soon.

Fort Mill Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2019My new favorite
My friend and I were so impressed by this course. Everything surpassed our expectations! I read some reviews about Fort Mill GC on Google and I was a bit sceptical. The first thing we saw was the fleet of beautiful new ELECTRIC golf carts. Then things only got better : registration was smooth and efficient with plenty of staff to assist us. We started on-time and even on a busy day, play moved along with little waiting between shots. The Donald Ross layout on the front felt like Carolina CC or Myers Park CC. The back was good too with an interesting layout with tight tree-lined fairways. The greens were firm, and fast, and true. Fairways and traps were in good shape (I was in 4 traps!). The tee boxes showed some wear due to the traffic the course gets. Frankly, any condition issues were more a result of player negligence than course maintenance. Golfers should fix ball marks, fill divots and rake traps. If you haven't played Fort Mill yet, give it a try - you won't be disappointed.
hovelandj, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Fort Mill Golf Club.
Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course at Revolution Park
Played On 09/18/2019Just right for a convenient low cost round
It's not Augusta National, but if you want to play nine on an interesting but not too challenging course, then Sifford is a good option, especially if you want to walk and carry. Quiet electric carts are available too.
Friendly staff, and great practice facility round out the amenities.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Eagle Chase Golf Club.
