Rye Hill Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 11/07/2021Nice being out in the Sunshine
Course was in good nick considering the time of year. but it was very windy which you had to allow for.
Some of the Tee boxes were a bit rough, but it was nice to be out in the sunshine in November.

Enjoyed the chance to get back out again & were very lucky with the weather. Course in reasonable condition although some of the Tee’s were a bit rough.

Played On 05/01/2019Disappointed this time
Having played this course a number of times I was a bit disappointed with the condition of both the tee boxes & particularly the greens on this occasion. Despite the recent rain, the greens were rock hard & pitted quite badly, they need some serious TLC. Similarly the tee boxes were tatty, although I would suggest players should be more considerate, the replacement of divots does not only apply to the fairways!?
On the plus side, the staff & members are really friendly & the layout of the course is very good for the average golfer, although low handicappers would probably find it easy.
hopefully they can sort out the condition of the course & I will be back in flash.
Bicester Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/05/2018Its OK but not remarkable
I've played this course a number of times, it is the closest one to home, so convenient. Unfortunately it is very flat, & apart from a couple of tricky holes on the back 9 is fairly mundane & extremely forgiving for the most part
On the plus side it is kept in good nick, the greens are true & the staff always friendly. Unfortunately the bar is expensive for food & drinks, but it is part of a Hotel & Spa so to be expected I suppose.
Its OK for a quick knock, but I doubt I would consider it if I had to travel.

I know the weather hasn't helped, but the course was in pretty poor condition, tee boxes were bare & the greens not great. This course is very long green to tee so is only for the fittest of you, it was 31deg when we started on Sunday & our drinks supplies soon dwindled, it really could do with a couple of taps from halfway onwards. It also must be said that the signage isn't great, particularly when tees are moved, thereby extending the walk unnecessarily.
We were not impressed with the staff either, there was no-one on the golf reception so we had to go to the bar to pay & despite explaining we had booked through 'Golf Now' the guy was adamant we should be paying £20 each, we refused & just left the £30 (£15 each) & went off to play. We finished about 7.30pm & the bar was shut, so no drink after, & the girl who was there was less than helpful when we asked if there was anywhere else on site we could get a drink, this is a hotel / spa afterall. Not a great experience on this occasion & I think we will leave it alone for a while, shame, because we have enjoyed it in the past.

Played On 07/22/2018Great Fun
This is a cracking little course, & was in remarkably good conditions considering the recent spell of hot weather.
There are a great variety of holes, a lot of which take full advantage of a deep valley with a stream in it. For the most part you are able to play your way out of trouble, apart from the 12th which is a real card wrecker.
The greens are nice & quick, so you need to be careful with your chip, but again, great condition so its all down to you.
This course is fun, take your punishment, smile & move on.
