Old Hickory Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2020Greens were worst I have ever seen at this course
I have always enjoyed this course but today the greens were in the worst condition that I have seen not only at this course but any other in the region. Some may be lost entirely. Avoid this course until the greens are playable again.

Greens have been punched, not rolling smooth, fairways had no roll, tees missing a lot of grass. Overall this is the worst condition I have seen for this course. Very disappointing. Course just looks unmaintained everywhere. Seems that in the fall and early spring they would have seeded the tees and fairway areas where grass is sparse.

Played On 05/14/2017Good course overall
Fairways are tight and tree-lined on most holes. Course condition is above average for this time of year. Greens rolled pretty good but a few were bumpy. Strangely enough, the course does not have a viable driving range, can only hit irons, otherwise can only hit woods into a net. Not well kept in driving range area for a high-end course. Long distance from clubhouse to first tee is very strange and not well marked. There are things to live about this course, but it needs some variety rather than every hole having tree lined fairways. Overall, pretty challenging. Last hole plays over 600 yards from second set -- birdied it for the first time.

Don't waste your time. This course is in the worst possible condition. Starter advised that a couple holes had some ground under repair. Truth is that the entire course is "ground under repair". So bad that it looks like sabotage by the former greenskeeper. Nearly every hole has major sections of fairway where there is no grass at all. Most tees have no grass. Most greens are ok, strangely enough. I used to love this course, but it will take at least 12 months to get this course back anywhere close to playable.
Forest Greens Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2015Fairways are horrible
Nice layout, but fairways don't have any grass at all. Mostly dirt. Greens will be fine once temperature warms up to help overcome aeration. But I repeat, the fairways are totally unacceptable. I have played other courses with dormant bent grass but this is not dormant, it is non existent.
Thanks for playing Forest Greens and thanks for the review. The fairways are certainly not where we would like them to be. Unfortunately, with the cold, late spring, the Bermuda grass has been slow to start growing. We currently have decent turf coverage on the fairways, estimated to be around 90%. In the areas that are bare, grass is starting to grow. Believe it or not, based on history, the bare areas will be mostly filled in within 2-3 weeks now that warm weather has arrived. We hope you'll come back then to give us another try. Thanks again.
