The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
Played On 03/30/2018This course was in great shape
It was March in Reno, so the weather was cold and windy, but the course was in great shape. The older man working in the morning was not overly friendly, but when I returned to the clubhouse in the afternoon the gentleman working was more than helpful and courteous.
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2018Fun elevation changes
I really enjoyed playing this course! It was a cold, windy day evan a little snow, but I still enjoyed it. I had played Red Hawk Lakes the day before and really wanted to go back and play the Hills but was told by a buddy to check out Wolf Run. I did not regret it! Red Hawk might have been in slightly better shape, but I loved the elevation changes and the challenges that Wolf Run presented. The Par 3s are long, but fun! Watch out for the course mascots.....the marmots! They're everywhere, but they don't scream at you!
Royal St. Cloud Golf Links - Red/White Course
Played On 03/12/2018Unfriendly Marshalls
The course was well maintained and greens were in good condition. I did get stuck in the Church Pews bunkers after a terrible tee shot! The staff on the other hand was hit and miss. The folks at the desk were very friendly as was the starter who was sending people out to their first tee. We started our round late as we got a severe down pour that started 10 minutes before our tee time. We waited out the storm for 30 minutes. When we went to the first tee it was extremely backed up with all the people who also waited it out. Once we started we kept pace with the group in front of us, and never held up the group behind us, but the extremely old and grumpy marshall kept reminding us to stay with the group in front of us. I didn't understand why since we were a threesome in between two foursomes. The other staff member who was not in a great mood that day was cart girl who never smiled and complained that rain had dampened her sales that day.
The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 03/11/2018Too high priced
I'll start by saying there is nothing wrong with the course. It was decently kept up I just didn't believe it was worth the cost of green fees (I paid around $40 for an afternoon tee time). If it was $10-15 less, I would recommend it. Some of the fairways were in rough shape, but the greens were in good shape and rolled true.
I was in Florida for a golf trip and picked all the courses off of golf advisor and course websites, and I was just disappointed by this course.
Hyde Park Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2018Good for beginners
This is a good beginner course so I would recommend it for them, but if you are an experienced golfer looking for a challenge you might be bored. My biggest issue with this course was the man who checked us in. He never cracked a smile and seemed to be technology challenged. At the turn we ran into the cart girl. I wanted to buy a 6 pack, but she only accepted cash. She told me I could go inside and pay for it and she would put the beer in our cooler. When I went inside the guy at the counter got extremely mad and said she wasn't allowed to do that and if I was buying beer inside, I had to pick it up inside because they were different prices. That didn't make sense to me at all. In the end, he reluctantly let me pay for the beer.
Bent Creek Golf Course
Played On 03/10/2018Good value course
This course was in decent shape and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was a Saturday afternoon and was extremely backed up, so the starter gave us a hole by hole review with tips on how to play each hole. I was disappointed that the golf boards were not working.
Overall great value for the money and if I'm ever back in Jacksonville, I would play it again!
Cimarrone Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2018My favorite course of my trip!
I was on a 4 day/7 course Florida Golf trip. This was my favorite course that I played.....and I even played LPGA! The value of this course was fantastic as it was very well maintained and yet did not break the bank!
The pace of play was slow on our second 9 (we played the back 9 first) because they had a jr.golf event going on in the morning....for this reason, I was not upset about the slow pace.
There are a lot of houses on the course, so I was nervous that my golf partner might hit one, but luckily he only landed a couple in their yards!
LPGA International - Jones Course
Played On 03/09/2018Twilight Rates
I played the twilight rates so it was worth the money that I paid, but I wouldn't have wanted to pay the full $85 green fee. The course was in great shape and the staff was extremely friendly. I'm not a big fan of playing fancy courses as I don't like to have to tip a kid to put my bags in my car for me, but the kid who helped us out had a great personality, so he made it entertaining.
Overall I would play it again....but only at twilight rates.
Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
Played On 03/02/2017Sunrise Special
My recommendation for this course may be confusing. I am not a golfer who would normally play courses over $50 per round, but I found the Sunrise Special that allows you to play the back 9 HOLES for a discounted price of $35. This was a great deal, so I jumped on it. I was paired up with a family of three who played extremely slowly, so we were the cause of the slow play. The majority of the course was in great shape, but the greens were extremely sandy. I wasn't aware of any warnings that the greens had been recently sanded. The layout was fun, but not overly challenging.
Like everything else at Disney I thought it was overpriced. I would never pay $135 to play 18 holes on this course which is why I wouldn't recommend it, but I would recommend the sunrise special.
Indian River Preserve Golf Club
Played On 03/01/2017Hidden gem
The course was in good condition and I enjoyed playing it. The course has some unique holes that can challenge the average golfer (such as myself). We also got a great lunch added in for an additional $5.
The pro shop was nothing special, but the restaurant was nice.
Viera East Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2017Favorite course on my vacation
I was on a week long vacation in Florida and played 4 times that week. This course was by far my favorite course that i played. It was in excellent condition with very nice greens. The only negative thing I have to say about it was that the course marshal asked us to speed up play a couple of different times and could have been nicer about it (He was not polite....not rude, but not polite either). I was in a foursome, and there was a threesome in front of us that we kept within two shots of us most of our round. I would also note that the group behind us never had to wait for us as they were further behind us then we were of the group in front of us.
The Savannahs Golf Course
Played On 02/25/2017Tight little course
The course was in really good shape. Some of the greens could have been kept up a little better, but really nice for a municipal course. Fairways were in excellent condition. This course, like most FL courses is covered in water, which I donated my fair share of balls to!
Thank you for your feedback. We are always greatful for helpful tips to help us improve. We apologize for the experience with the front counter and beverage cart. We are working hard to bring everything up to speed including the ability to accept credit cards on the course. We hope that you give us another chance to earn additional stars!
