Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2022Very pleased
This course is surely one of the nicest public courses I've played. We had an early morning tee time and the weather was perfect. We found the course to be fair but challenging. Even from the senior tees, we still were 120-150 yards from the green when hitting our second shots. The greens held well on approach shots, the putted fast and true. As expected, they did get faster as they dried out throughout the morning. The traps, as many reviews had stated, were sometimes unplayable having rocks from the size of pea pebbles to softballs in some areas. That is simple enough--just pull it out if not playable. Otherwise, it was a great experience with friendly staff. I would not hesitate to play this course again--on a weekday that is. The weekend rates are a bit much for my budget and psyche.
Green Tree Golf Course
Played On 09/12/2022Be cautious
We are vacationing and wanted to get in a quick (cheap) round early in the week. We decided to go here because it fit the bill. We were charged $40 and given a senior discount only when I asked about it. We could have waited 20 minutes for a GolfNow price of $26, but paid and played. The course was in the worst condition of any course I've played in my 50+ years of playing golf. The guys in the pro shop said they were hit hard by a local drought. The conditions we saw were more than would be caused by a recent drought. Much of what we saw was from long-time neglect. Crabgrass abounds at this course, so, if you like playing on crabgrass, this is the course for you. The fringes of EVERY green were ALL crabgrass. You could not putt effectively from it and it was difficult to chip from it as well. There were NO good tees on the course. Most were in some state of repair; all had been lost from the drought or neglect. The fairways were horrendous. The majority of the fairway surface area was either dirt/sand or dead grass.
All this said, I would like to play this course if they ever get their grass back. It is a nice layout with plenty of challenges. There are lots of doglegs that require a player to use something other than driver from the tee. The greens were slow but puttable despite some damage on the greens as well. Frankly, I don't know how one would know if their conditions have improved, but I'd be willing to play again if I knew they had. Until then, $10 for a cart and golf is more than enough to pay,.
Stonecrest Golf Course
Played On 10/11/2013Great deal
Having grown up playing Stonecrest, it was fun to go back and play it again. I had not played the course for several years, but found it to be in great shape as expected. The price paid was more than reasonable and I'll definitely do this again.
