Rufford Park Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/29/2022Lovely course but the 19th hole needs improving
Course was good for a damp late October afternoon
Only complaint was that we finished about 5.20, got to the bar for 5.30, and they had turned the beer pumps off
& didn’t really have much of a choice of bottled beer to compensate
Would recommend the course but get to the bar early
Ballycastle Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2021Lovely course if the conditions are good
First few holes ease you in before the links grab your attention. Pros; course well maintained, greens ran true, clear directions from green to next tee, beautiful scenery, challenging holes with great variety. Cons; be prepared for changeable weather throughout your round, some greens very small targets when the wind is up, from green to next tee some holes criss cross and are a bit of a walk to get to. Would recommend for the confident golfer, however if you are a casual golfer it might be a bit much. Even though the weather was rough throughout the round, the stunning views & variety of holes made it worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoyed it & am glad I played it.
Whitburn Golf Club
Played On 09/13/2017An all year round gem
As it had rained heavily overnight, I was expecting some standing water. It was also very windy on the day so we didn't think conditions were conducive for a good score. After getting acclimatised to the wind, by about the third hole, we started to relax and I have to say thoroughly enjoyed the round. The course was amazingly dry after all the overnight rain and played beautifully. I play off 18 and had never played it before. My partner, 25 handicap, was a local so had played it many times. We both ended up with 34 points which, with the gale force winds, felt more like 40 points.
Stunning views and a really challenging well kept coastal gem.
