Old Bridge Golf Club
Played On 04/05/2024There’s a new gem in town, & it’s called the Roz
Let’s start with the positive and there’s plenty of it to talk about.
The Rose is a must play for anyone that likes quality golf. From the moment you pull into the property, everything is shiny and new. The folks in the clubhouse were friendly, as were the gentleman working outside.
The driving range, is beautiful, and the Range balls are also brand new.
Design of this course is outstanding. The site views from the tea boxes with the tall trees lining the fairways are breathtaking. It reminds me of being in the western part of Virginia, where the fairways are tight and the lined with tall pine trees.
The tee boxes are mint. There’s no sand for you to put in your divots, but I noticed diets were filled, which means people from the maintenance crew come by and fill them for you, after the fact.
The fairways are generous, making it possible for all levels of player to hit Fairways consistently.
The greens, although not lightning fast, yet, were perfect and consistent.
I didn’t hit any balls in the bunkers, however, I did take notice that they are filled with high-quality, excellent sand.
On the back nine I dropped a ball in the bunker, just to test them out, and I have to say kudos to this course because they are perfect.
The layout of this course, although not long by today’s standards, was fun and challenging
The layout with the wind blowing, along with the undulating greens, create an adequate defense of this course
Now, for the only constructive criticism of this course:
IT WAS WET!
The greens and the bunkers drained very well. The fairways, however, in much of the rough were soaked.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had a ton of rain and for what it’s worth this course drained very well. It was tough the walk however, with a pushcart because the ground was wet and soft. I’m also appreciative that the course was open considering I drove over an hour to check out this new gem. is a gem I look forward to warmer, dryer, weather so I can return and play this course under perfect conditions.
And if you don’t mind wet socks, after your round, take advantage of the current pricing and go check out The Rose.
Colts Neck Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2023Fun Course, Prepare to Wait in Every shot
There is a lot to like about Colts Neck GC. The staff is great, the course is in decent shape, and it’s get able to put up a score.
Biggest issues:
pace of play is almost always slow.
No use of inside facilities. Locker room is closed to nonmembers & the bar/restaurant off limits to nonmembers. Saw the cart girl on course on the 2nd hole then she disappeared so prepare to bring your own snacks & Gatorade .
Colts Neck Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2023Overall a Good course.
Course in good shape. Staff were great.
Pace could have been better. No ranger & for a Hot day No beverage cart service. Gatorade would have been welcomed.

Played On 05/06/2023Great Course, Needs a halfway house
Course was in very good shape & greens were quick.
They verticut the fairways recently making them uneven & soft in spots so compressing the ball was inconsistent but no complaints, the maintenance needs to be done.
Suggestion: LEAVE RAKES IN THE BUNKERS & maybe somebody would use them. It’s hard hitting out of a deep foot print.
Overall, good day. Starter was a nice guy & the cart person was equally polite & helpful.
If you play late, be ready to wait. There were two 5somes ahead of me.
Eighteen Hole at Holiday Island Country Club
Played On 04/16/2023Friendly staff, Golf Course needs work
For $40.01 really can’t complain. I was greeted by two very friendly staff members and was allowed to go out as a single.
I’ll start with the positive, the greens were well-maintained and fairly consistent.
As far as the fairways in the tea boxes, they were dry, lacking grass, and need some TLC.
Overall, it was a great day to practice in the wind. It was blowing steady, 15 to 2025.
Again, some of the friendliest staff you’ll find. If the course receives a little bit of upkeep, it will be well worth stop in to play.
LBI National Golf & Resort
Played On 03/18/2023Good day: Cold , windy & wet.
There wasn’t a ton of play and Starter allowed me to go out as a single so I could work on different aspects of my game. That alone made the day worth it.
It’s technically still winter and the course is in pretty good shape for being dormant. Some spots are very damp/wet and I lost a couple of balls on good shots that I assume plugged. That being said, it’s winter and the turf conditions are a bit inconsistent. Being wet and windy, the course played long & it was difficult to consistently compress the ball. The greens were good for end winter. Can’t wait to putt them in the late spring/summer months.
Anyhow , for being closed for a long period of time, the new ownership is bringing this course back nicely. It’s worth a visit.
West Pines Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2023Fun Course, good value, great condition
West Pines is a fantastic value for the price. It’s been rainy so I played up a tee box but I was pleasantly surprised how well the course played after days of heavy rain. Kudos to the Superintendent & his/her crew.
Pace of play was great(about 3 hours as a single with paths only).
I read other reviews that mentioned negative comments about the broken cart paths, and the tee boxes but I didn’t feel they were bad enough to detract from my rating.
The sand traps were sub par but anyone that plays a lot of golf knows that the extreme rain in the area as of late will keep the grounds crew from taking them properly. I didn’t notice any of them washed out, just not raked.
Greens rolled fairly again considering the amount of rain.
LBI National Golf & Resort
Played On 11/06/2022Inconsistent Turf Conditions, Cut the rough
I’ll keep it simple,
Great course but with all the leaves that are falling, cut the rough. It was bad enough that you could lose a ball that landed in play because of the leaves, but the rough was over 6” high in most spots. Add the leaves on top & it slowed the pace of play tremendously.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club - Ridge Course
Played On 10/21/2022Great Shape, nice day.
Eagle Ridge is the top of the class in Ocean County. Played the back tees and the tee boxes were MINT.
same goes for the fairways.
Greens were still recovering from Being aerated so from past experience I felt they were a little slow. They were also slightly bumpy.
The bunkers need some work, and I hope they put some effort into them over the winter. The few I was in we’re not raked. I do not mean by players, I am referring to the course did not write them.
The staff is always friendly there and accommodating. I’m a little disappointed in what used to be the best practice range for practice for public play in the area But it simply has not been kept well. Overall, Eagle Ridge Is a gem compared to other public courses in the area.
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2022Greens were in Bad Shape after Aeration
First let me say I I love the Vineyards golf course and I normally would recommend playing here and I would give better ratings.
But on this day, the Pace of play was so slow and The greens were so bad & bumpy that we should have played winter rules with automatic two putts.
Not to mention, two members of our foursome quit after 9 holes and got a partial refund.
I’m a scratch golfer and the group behind me gave me crap because I played the back tees and they felt the pace would pick up if I moved up.
They hit up on us twice but I refused to lower myself to their level.
The staff at the Vineyards is great. The starter, the bag guys, the inside help… all great.
We DID NOT SEE A RANGER/PLAYER ASSISTANCE person during the 5 /12 hour round.
This is an honest review of this particular day so please take that into consideration. THIS IS NORMALLY A GREAT VENUE & A FUN TRACK TO PLAY.
Golf courses need to have holes punched in them. I did not notice any top dressing on the greens and they did not seem to be rolled to make putting more consistent.
Pace of play issues can be remedied by having a competent ranger that helps find lost golf balls for players and enforces the no mulligans/practice shot rule when the course is backed up.
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2022Good Day, Noce people
Course was in good shape considering the recent dry & hot weather.
Vineyard National Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2022Great Day
Course Plus in great shape considering the lack of rain that we’ve had. Nice job to the superintendent and his staff.
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 04/15/2022Slow play but good course.
Good layout with awesome history( read the plaques).
Fairways in great shape.
Greens still recouping from Aeration.
Back tee boxes are in great shape. Whites on many holes are in rough shape.
Need a lesson? Stop by here and book with Jeff. You can’t go wrong. Good teacher, better guy.
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 04/10/2022Where’s the Ranger?
Good Course.. 5 1/2 hour round is a bit crazy. Waited on every shot.
Course was in fair shape due to aeration. There wasn’t a ranger to be seen and the two groups ahead of us were clearly playing the wrong tees.
Fairways were in great shape. Tee boxes need some love.I would shut them down in sections to give grass a chance to grow.
Seaview - The Bay Course
Played On 09/05/2022Great Course, a bit pricy.
Course is a classic & it is in good shape.
Kudos to the staff for being nothing short of outstanding!
The price is high, however the service is great.
Driving range & practice area could use some attention. Not great for a high end course. It used to be great.
Overall, good day. If you’re not a good sand player, practice those shots before playing here. There is A LOT of sand in the bunkers and as most of you know, many golfers need lessons that it’s their responsibility to take the trenches they leave when entering or leaving a sand trap.
Free drop from the DEEP heel marks!
LBI National Golf & Resort
Played On 08/25/2022After 2 1/2 years of being closed, course is on the rebound
After 2 years of closure and only being open for 5 months, this course is extremely playable.
Give it a chance. LBI National will be a top course in the area.
Cool logo too!
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 08/23/2022Not in the best shape or worth full price
The course needs some TLC especially for the top dollar being charged. Bunkers were not raked before the day’s play began and the rough around the was uncut. (Nutsedge was at least 6 inches high in areas)
Positive note, Staff is exceptional!
Heron Glen Golf Course
Played On 08/03/2022Beautiful views, Nice layout
I’ll start by saying how nice it was to pull into the parking lot to see a large group of jr golfers taking part in the First Tee Program. I found it tough to find an employee to help guide me to the pro shop or to cart my clubs but after a few minutes, I found my way.
The pro shop staff were friendly, welcoming & courteous. I purchased a token for range balls & was a bit disappointed to be hitting off mats when there is an extensive grass hitting area but that didn’t take away of my first impressions to offset my mood.
When I checked in with the starter, he moved my tee time up to “right now” with a splendid group of people. Bob, Gary & Karen, thanks for an enjoyable round. If every group I get paired with as a single player were close to the class of you, I’d never complain again.
As for the course, it was in fantastic shape. The tee boxes, fairways & greens were consistent . A bit on the slow side but my guess would be that the course was readying itself for the extreme heat that is arriving this week. I was only in two bunkers, but I took notice of how well they were manicured. All in great shape with only a few where players didn’t take them. The pace of play was consistent with what you might find at a private exclusive course. We didn’t have to wait on any hole. If this is the norm, kudos to the management staff for setting a phenomenal pace of play.
The sights at this course are breathtaking. Silos, hills, (ok minus the power lines) in the background actually gave me a reason to forget the occasional bad shot.
Being a longer hitter & playing the course for the first time left me in a few bad places after what I thought were good shots(blue/white tees are too close for me to hit driver on most holes but what fun is hitting hybrid or iron on every hole? So of course I hit driver and lost 3 balls).
I will return in the fall (I’m sure the changing leaves will only enhance the views and the measure this course offers) and I will play from the back tees to get the true test of what Heron Glen has to offer.
The off course amenities I gave a 4 for for one reason: food choice. Only hotdogs & ham sandwiches. No turkey or non beef/pork options left me a bit hungry by the end of the round sinceI do not eat hotdogs or pork. I’m sure those of you that eat what was offered would rate that a 5. The cart girl was friendly & she was around enough to make sure nobody became victim to the heat. I will say that the water coolers on the back nine were empty by the time our group arrived so that retracted from my rating too.
Do I recommend this course? Absolutely! This was as honest of an appraisal that I could give.
It was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive from the shore to play and as I mentioned, I will be back in the fall.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club - Ridge Course
Played On 04/20/2022Great Shape minus Aerated greens
Course is in GREAT SHAPE.
GREENS had holes punched a few weeks ago and their healing but still bumpy. Not worthy of bashing the place.
If you want to get better, schedule a lesson with Rylee. She’s top notch!
