Owl's Nest Golf Club
Played On 7/7/2013Best course I've played.
Played Owl's Nest today and it's the best course I have ever played. Some of the holes are tricky but are fair test if you hit the ball in the right spot.
The few downsides were that on some of the holes with houses out of bounds is very close to the fairway and greens so if you are offline slightly you won't know you're OB until you get up to the ball.
The par 3 14th tee box for the whites were in very rough shape and basically just dirt.
My biggest complaint is that there is no marker on the flag pointing out the pin location. Some of the greens are slightly up hill so you can only see half the flag stick and it was difficult to figure the location unless you went up to see.
Other than that the course is in great shape and I will be back as soon as I can.
Fox Run Golf Club
Played On 6/3/2013Challenging but fun course
Played Okemo for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. Booked a hot deal for $25 instead of the usual $85 to play. I told my friend later in the evening and he managed to get it for $19.
The course is under 6000 yards from the white tees, but it is still very challenging with the placement of bunkers and water hazards. The fairways were in great condition. We had a storm come through the day before so the bunkers were packed down and were tough to play out of. A few of the greens must have been burned by frost as a few holes were brown in spots and damaged. The 10th pin position was put 4 inches from a dead spot which had a 3 inch strip of no grass and naturally my ball ended up in it after I missed my 8 foot par putt.
We were the 2nd group out and followed a single player so we had no problems with pace and only took 3 1/2 hours. The electric carts are very nice so you dont get distracted by the noise.
Ended up shooting 100 as I had a few blowout holes from poor tee shots resulting in a 10 on a par 5 and an 8 on the last as I was too excited about possibly shooting under 100 on my first Okemo visit and never kept my head down through the swing....D'oh!!!
Overall it was very enjoyable and was a steal at the price. You'd pay more at a couple of other courses in the area that arn't even 1/5th as good as Okemo.
Will definately be back for that deal.
The Golf Club at Equinox
Played On 6/2/2013Great course
This was the first time that I had played Equinox and I was very impressed. My brother in law says it's his favourite course and after finding the golf now website I saw there was a hot deal for $38 which was $100 cheaper than the regular price. Couldn't resist that offer so booked it up.
I usually shoot in the mid 90's to 100 as I don't play too often. Upon arriving the staff were extremely friendly and had a greeter on the first tee to welcome me. The course is in great condition. Fairways are immaculate and the greens have a constant speed. The bunkers are prestine, light sand and no stones.
The only negatives I had was a few holes have out of bounds on the right hand side of the fairway so if you have a slight slice like I do then you may lose a few balls. It's not the courses fault I sometimes slice my tee shots, just seems a bit harsh that the tee box is just a few yards from OB. Also the 5th green had alot of debris from the trees behind it. Made putting a little bit harder and having never played the hole before didn't know the line it would take. Ended up hitting a few of the buds and moved the ball a few inches off line.
One of the par 3's is only 110 yards long and straight downhill which feels a little cheap, but I managed a par after a good birdie attempt just went wide....so can't really complain.
The biggest downer which was no fault of the course was a severe storm came in whilst on hole 15th and the course got flooded so had to end the round short.
Other than that I had a real good time and played with two other players who had booked through golf now website.
Will definately be going back if a weekend tee time is around the $40 mark again.
Hi crashbird. where did you find the "hot deal" for Okemo. much appreciated
