Whitetail Golf Club
Played On 11/7/2013Definitely Not Impressed
I am genuinely mystified at the large number of positive reviews for this course:
The course is rough, unsophisticated and amateurish in design. Too many annoying natural obstacles that take the fun out of playing. First hole is a par 3....go figure.
Many bare and rocky sections on uneven or undulating fairways. Far too many ditches, bush, trees and swamp on narrow fairways which take the fun out of playing. It's almost like the owners cut corners to save money when designing the course. Greens cut way too short. Putts rolled as if on concrete. Rough areas are unkempt.
There are much better, more refined courses in the area. I do not recommend.

Oaks of Cobden Golf Club
Played On 10/25/2013Well maintained and picturesque.
Very impressed with scenic beauty and overall conditions of this course. Management seems to take great pride to ensure the Oaks is in top condition. Greens especially were in super shape this year. The efforts of the grounds crew has certainly paid off.
A couple of very tight holes in the back 9, but overall it's a fair but challenging course. Staff is friendly, professional and flexible. I like this course very much. Recommend.
Island Brae Golf Club
Played On 6/05/2013Nothing fancy but serves the purpose in cottage country.
Nothing too fancy.
Greens were in excellent condition.
Fairways generally okay but a fair number of bare areas where grass should be growing.
Some nice views of the Ottawa River.
9-hole course that can be very slow when it's busy.
Kings Ridge Golf Club - Kings Course
Played On 8/1/2012A nice little course with good value
Course was in excellent condition. Fairways and greens in great shape. A short course. Good as a warmup for longer and more challenging courses but there can still be difficulty on some holes. There are more picturesque courses in the area but at a higher price. Good value.
Hi Corgitoy,
We here at Whitetail Golf Club appriciate every review that is posted on this site. I see you played here on November 7th last year and you were unhappy with the experience. When it is that late in the season we do have a any maintenance staff anymore and the course is not up to par as the winter approaches. We would like to invite you to experience this wonderful course in prime time when the conditions are dramatically better. There is a reason why everyone writes great reviews about this course and why we were voted the #1 Public Golf Course in Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec 2 years in a row. Unfortunally when it is time to shut down for the year the course standards do fall short of what they should be but that is the nature of living in Canada. Please respond to info@whitetailgolfclub.ca and we can make your next round here a pleasureable one.
