I enjoyed the round. There is a good mix of difficult, moderate and easy holes. The greens are in great shape.

In every catagory this course is the best. We really enjoyed the challenge in fantastic conditions. The Superintendent is to be congratulated on getting this beautiful course playable after 4 inches of rain the previous 24 hours.

This is one tough layout. Several 400 plus yard par 4's, subtle and huge greens (did I mention 3 putts?), rarely a level lie all await the adventuresome.

This course has a really nice layout. There are many tee to green challenges...huge bunkers, lateral water hazards, beautiful, tall trees. The holes on the south side of Hwy 98 are the best in all of Destin for pure golf challenge. There are large greens that have many gentle curves. They also have a set of "Family Tees" with holes that range from 80 to 200 yards with no forced carries over water. This is a course to take the grandkids to!
Windswept Dunes Golf Course
Played On 2/08/2013Worth the drive to Freeport
Windswept Dunes is about 30 minutes from Sandestin and worth the trip. With 750 acres there is lots of room for a big golf course, and it is! Generous landing areas and very large greens are the standard here. The rye grass overseed keeps the tees, fairways and greens - green. It also adds a bit of a challenge with no or very little roll and greens that are difficult to putt accuratly. In short a very nice golf facility. Oh, I had the area's best pulled pork sandwich for lunch. It was the special of the day!

Played On 2/05/2013Tough course, play the correct tees for you
This course has challenges that go beyond the yardage. Make sure you choose the tees you can handle. The guys I was put with had no fun struggling to 6, 7 and 8 every hole until on the fourth hole they moved up a set and enjoyed the round more and played much better. We were on our way to a 5 plus hour round with groups right behind us until our move to play it forward. This is a wonderful course, well maintained and worth the expense.

Choose the correct tees and keep the ball straight. You will have a blast if you play it forward on this course. It has lateral water and water to carry on 14 of 18 holes. The out of bounds is also tight due to the homes and condos that line the course. Don't get me wrong there is ample room, but there is a premium on "straight". As we arrived at every hole we commented on that holes unique beauty. Several holes play along the "back bay" with many others having their own interesting features. I'd be leaving something out if I didn't mention the BUNKERS. All are well placed. I was in 8 of them. On 5 occasions they kept me out of a water hazard. We all had a blast. The staff was gracious and delightful!
