The Club at Venetian Bay
Played On 03/27/2016Looks can be deceiving.
The website makes this course's fairways look lush and green with white sand traps. However, many of its fairways have areas with more sand than turf and the traps are in real need of a good grooming (and the greens could use some TLC). The layout is nice with bunkers in strategic locations in the fairways. The course maneuvers its way through some unfinished housing development. The GolfNow price made the course worth playing a round while on vacation.
Amana Colonies Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2014Oh man Amana!
This scenic course is for the serious golfer who enjoys accuracy and precision in his shot selection. The fairways are narrow but the greens are long and wide. The course's natural beauty can also be enjoyed by the novice player who brings an extra box (not sleeve) of balls!
Grinnell Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/18/2014Precision and picturesque
A short course that requires precision in club selection. Not much difference in yardage between the blue and white tee boxes. Tree-lined rolling fairways are narrow.

Selected a great deal on GolfNow while vacationing on the Palm Coast. Hands down a High 5 round.
Honey Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/5/2013A course carved out from the canyons and bluffs amidst corn fields
A beauty to behold. So unusual for central Iowa.
The front nine is a classic links-style course with strategically placed bunkers. The back nine is more complex as the course descends into the canyon and then ascends each bluff requiring precision and placement in play.
You'll need more than one sleeve to succeed. Pause between the holes on the back nine and take in the view!
Otter Creek Golf Course
Played On 9/6/2013A great links style course with beautiful bluegrass fairways.
Scored an outstanding deal on Golfnow to play a challenging links style course on a sunny afternoon. Despite the seasonal drought condition and its affect on other area courses, Otter Creek was in exceptional condition.
The rolling bluegrass fairways and the mounding with the tall grasses accentuating every hole made our round. The pro shop staff was extremely friendly. The starter and the rangers kept play moving along at an expected pace. A must play course in central Iowa!
Tournament Club of Iowa
Played On 11/15/2012Great shape for the fall!
Overall in great shape -- except for aeration on three holes (to be expected at this time of year) -- no leaves, not even in the fairway fringe. Greens were in excellent condition.
A lot of meticulous maintenance makes for an enjoyable round of golf in a picturesque setting. Great job ground crews!
