Fox Chapel Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2017Play if Possible
This course takes the best golf out of every person. Playing from the tips, I shot a 94, which is respectable considering that only two golfers broke 80 out of 20 golfers in a high school tournament. If you get a chance to play, do it. Even in pouring down rain, the course is absolutely beautiful. Be sure to stay out of the rough and greenside sand, as both take an effort just to get out of.

Beautiful Course. I am there with my HS golf team for practice and play, and it is always in immaculate condition. The rough is not as tough as expected, considering that the course is often regarded for a lack of forgiveness. Anyhow, I would recommend playing this private track if anyone has the chance to.

I love this course for the price. Metroparks always does a good job maintaining the fairways and greens. Staff is always friendly and helpful. A few rough spots here and there on the course but other than that the nines are pretty straightforward. Forgiving course, so breaking 80 should be attainable, even from the back tees.

The course was in perfect condition, except for the aeration to the tees, fairways, fringe, and greens that had taken place just a few days before. Other than that, everything else was spectacular. Ran into a co-worker from another job who was very nice in telling me directions to the first tee. Love the design of the course and the clubhouse is very nice. Play if you get a chance.

Good course, other than a few spots here and there like sloped sprinklerheads or misplaced branches. I would recommend but wouldn't die to play here, as it is a par for the course country club.

Around Christmastime of last year, I bought a junior membership for only $270 that allowed anytime during the weekday and after 2 on holidays/weekends. Totally worth it. Played 50+ rounds (Between 4 and 45 holes each time) and loved every minute of it. The course isn't a country club, you can't expect that. However, it is one of the nicest manicured public courses around. It is fairly easy, once you get the feel of the greens, which are slower than the country club but faster than a badly-maintained public track. The only request for this course would be to lengthen the tees. I can only drive the ball about 220 yards but I put up multiple rounds in the low 70's and only two scores over 90 all from the tips (6400 yards). The renovation of 5 and 6 was badly needed, as many of my younger friends would complain about the layout of the old design on 5. I befriended a few of the usuals, and may I say, they may not be the best golfers, but they are very nice and they all play the appropriate tees, so I couldn't think of anyone better to play with. The staff is always very nice, especially Nick, who would always recognize me and find me a time to go off. The driving range is simple, but it has plenty of targets and there is never a wait for a hitting bay, so no complaints there. The course was in especially good shape for most of the year, except for one very wet spell during the month of July, where there was standing water in the fairway of 14, making the rough a more desireable landing spot for the tee ball and the second shot. The women at the bar are always very nice and they sure know how to cook a good burger, so be sure to tip them well. Larry Manski, one of the coaches there, is perfect for beginners and advanced golfers alike. He and Connor McCauley helped me drop 30 strokes off my handicap this year alone I am hoping that the price of the membership stays the same, as I would be willing to purchase it next year.

This course is completely out of shape. Terrible conditions. Dead spots on greens. Played tips 3 straight days for HS tryouts. Shot 242 total, 80-81-81, because the back nine is completely trash. Broke 40 on front side each time but the back is a weird design. Tips are only 6200 yards, which is weird. If somebody is just looking for a weird design and a place to have a good time while playing golf, this is it. Otherwise, stray away
