Hernando Oaks Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/02/2015good layout,needs a little work
a very nice course that needs a little work on the greens.they were a little slow due to recent hole punching and some poor spots, but this course has great potential.not overly hard just using your head will get you around without trying to kill it.front nine built around residential area, back nine in wetlands and tree lined areas.close to suburban area but secluded enough for wildlife to view.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 05/18/2015only bad part confusing layout
this is a course that is not difficult but you need to play a couple times to figure out layout and club selection.the gps is helpful just a little slow to catch up.i have a hand held gps that did not correspond to layout,i guess routing was changed.many narrow greens so accuracy more important than getting exact yardage.nice course good conditions
West Orange Country Club
Played On 05/15/2015fine country club for the public
good conditions, fairways were arriated but you could find areas to get good lie,i played this course when it was an out of the way place to play, now urban sprawl has encroached but at least it hasn't spoiled the course make-up.for the price i recommend it greatly.only down side was not pairing up twosomes to move things along.once member shotgun cleared out pace was excellent
The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course
Played On 04/30/2015nice course in residential area
i had played the sister course many years ago and heard good things about this course and wish i had played this course earlier.there's parallel water on most every hole with doglegs and traps to keep you on your game.many interesting holes that do not require length as much as accuracy.greens are in good condition, only a couple with spotty areas, but overall good.houses line course but are on other side of water so they do not come into play, very nice community.
Miona Lake Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2015fun older course
this is an older course with small greens and tight fairways.the course was redone last summer and the fairways are still a little rough but not bad.the greens were good but it looks like the machinery needs a little fine tuning.this course doesn't get alot of play so getting around is enjoyable, just make sure there isn't a foursome of villagers in front of you.
The Country Club of Mount Dora
Played On 04/14/2015a nice course
it's been awhile since i've played it and it still is a nice course, well kept.there are a few holes where it was wet in spots but overall it is in good shape.not an overly long course but placement of shots is more important than length.the houses on some holes are a little too close to the course but if you keep it in play shouldn't be a worry.not busy for mid-april,so getting around course is a pleasure.very much recommend this course.
Bella Collina Golf Club
Played On 04/08/2015just another name on a course
nick faldo's name is associated with this course but i can't see a pro or designer coming up with a gimmick course.yes i know this is a hilly part of florida but do you really have to move earth to try to make it as difficult as possible.a lot of money went into designing this course and a ton put into clubhouse and the extra amenities put why don't they use it to maintain the course, the greens were bad.too many blind shots and to top it off too much slope in fairways to layup on many holes or to hit to a preferred yardage.as for scenic views only the ninth and eighteenth gave a desirable memory, the rest of the course was too many sights of traps and undeveloped property.if you get this at 30 ok but i wouldn't pay more again.it took 3 holes for the gps system to kick in,i was supposed to get range balls,no one to direct you to where to get carts, where to park or directions to first tee.there's a course in north lake county called harbor hills that is just as scenic and a much fairer golf course at half the price.that is where bella collina should have sent their designers to show what you can do on a hilly piece of property and not come up with goofy golf.
Harbor Hills Country Club
Played On 04/06/2015still a great place to enjoy the day
although the course is showing its age this is still the best place to enjoy a day on the course even if you don't play well.the course has toughened up since the trees have filled out where shaping of shots comes into play.the greens were mowed close and were quick as they had a mini tour a couple of days earlier.a little out of the way to get to but well worth the drive.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2015not worth the hype
first i thought this was at an out of the way bustle of a resort.it's near disney and in the resort district and the resort is looks more like an apartment complex. .front nine was cramped, back nine more of a winding nine.the course is tricked up with too big mounds in middle of greens and many of the greens are odd shaped with many spots on greens unable to put fair pin placements.short holes with huge bunkers and railroad ties makes the holes look like mini golf architecture.some crazy hole designs. yardage not thought out well by different tees, too short par fives and too long par fours depending on tee you play.expect 5 hour rounds because of overbooking and short holes on front nine. i played through golfnow and i sure wouldn't pay what they charge to outside lay and guests.finally not told what pin placement was,had to golf proshop on second hole to get number because hole 1 and 2 didn't correspond to what it was and didn't get much better after because many placements were not in where they were supposed to be.
Juliette Falls
Played On 02/03/2015not a course to play in the dormant season
first this course probably is in better conditions in the spring.greens were not up to the conditions one would expect for a course of this price and reputation.tough to figure what was green and what was fringe.no score card on cart and only lucky ranger had one, every flag was blue no pin placement numbers so you had to guess what part of green hole was located.front nine a little cramped close hole by hole ,back nine more of a winding layout.will probably go back but not in the winter season, seems they are trying to pass this off as an exclusive country club on a municipal course budget
Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 01/27/2015nice resort
the course starts and ends a little cramped, but it opens up on the 4th hole and is very open until the 16th hole.greens were very good and fast conditions.not overly long but driving the ball straight is important.course knowledge helps on the shorter holes.located at a resort so you have to leave car with valet and pro shop not close.expect to pay for the small things
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Played On 01/22/2015great course,poor extras
the course was outstanding, fast greens well kept up.the off course amenities poor.no parking near clubhouse,i had to park quarter mile from clubhouse.hey disney if you're going to build to make more money in areas that were not intended then make sure your customers can use what was originally built for that purpose.used golfnow but pro shop employee chided me because i didn't live close enough to disney.i've lived in florida for 23yrs.now(probably longer than the pro shop employee)and i supported their courses and the old disney tournament for years.if you don't like my money i'll not spend it on any more disney or arnold palmer properties again
Dunes Golf Club
Played On 01/20/2015bad fairways and greens
this course is a fine course if it was in good condition.sparse conditions on fairways and greens on back nine are iffy.this is pine barrons meet rolling oaks from world woods, lots of waste areas with rolling faiways and undulating greens.like many courses on golfnow cheap rates but not enough money put into the course upkeep.
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 01/02/2015great shape
good course,i do prefer pine barrons more this is more of a traditional florida course rolling fairways ,undulating greens.greens were a little on the slow side and it didn't help people not dragging their feet on the greens.
Twisted Oaks Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2014good course bad greens
everything was great except the greens, many sparse areas on greens and very slow, but everything else was in good shape, overseeded fairways and chipping off the greens was ok because the rough wasn't cut too low.when they get the greens back in shape and up to speed the course will be fun to play
Citrus Springs Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/26/2014needs some tlc
a nice course that i have played in the past but it seems they have cut back on costs and the course looks it.many greens have bad areas and are on the slow side also it seems there is no mechanic because you can tell greens mower is not cutting properly.fairways are thin on grass.a shame because this is a nice hilly picturesque course, with houses set back and out of bounds hardly comes into play
Deer Island Country Club
Played On 12/17/2014beautiful course,very senic
difficult course if you don't keep it straight.with all the rain in the past 6 months water level is up on the water hazards so accuracy is a must.great views all around you're on an island.well worth the extra drive to get there.
Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/14/2014good course for begginers and intermediates
6 or 7 greens were not up to the condition of the rest of the greens.spotty and sanded so they were slower than the rest.played on mid-day sunday in under 3 hrs.was rushed when i got there a half hour before tee time.
Sweetwater Country Club
Played On 12/12/2014nicely kept facility
the course is well maintained with wall to wall overseed.play was a little slow with a 4-some holding everyone up,if a ranger was employed this would have helped in getting faster groups through.great price in the middle of day.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 12/09/2014this is what golf should be
great challenging course, great conditions.paired up with a couple that didn't play the right tees but that was the only down side but they were very friendly.pone barrens id the better of the two courses.if you can get this less than $30 jump on it
We thank you for choosing to play Bella Collina, we are sorry to hear that the difficulty of the course provided you a less than desirable experience. The golf course can be a little difficult the first time you play, but after the first time you get a sense of direction to hit it off the tee and approach shots. When you visiting our greens had an agronomic condition that partially damaged some of our greens complexes. Fortunately, the condition was quickly diagnosed and successfully treated before any further damage could occur. We are currently recovering rapidly and expect to return to outstanding conditions very shortly. We thank you in advance for your understanding and we hope that you will choose to visit us again very soon.
